Epiphany

Happy Epiphany!  The 12 Days of Christmas are now over and today we celebrate the coming of the Magi (or wise men or kings) to the baby Jesus.  Who might have been the toddler Jesus by the time they got there.  So...Epiphany...kings...royalty...purple.  Yep, I'll take my themes however I can make them up:

Sparkly!  Or, if I want to attempt to stretch the Epiphany thing a little further, the sparkles are like the star that the Magi followed.

I don't think I can stretch the theme for everything, so I'm not going to try.  But these are pretty, and I like them.

I'm not terribly fond of the detailing on the toe box, but I love the purple plaid.

Polka dots!

Of course the PB needs some Epiphany shoes.  How sweet are these?

And the hubby can have some Epiphany shoes for his imaginary shoe closet, too.

I hope your Epiphany is lovely, and possibly involves random strangers bringing you gifts.

Epiphany

Today is Epiphany, the day that is traditionally celebrated to commemorate the time the wise men followed the star and found the baby Jesus.  I did an image search for "king shoes" hoping to find something related to the 3 kings, but instead I found these:

These are images from 2013 and 2014 calendars by an artist named Sally King, and I can't say that I care that they don't have anything to do with Epiphany, because they are really really cool.  You should click the link and check out more of her stuff.

Epiphany is all well and good, but just as important, I flew to MONTANA today for 11 days of vacation!  Both of my flights went well, and I even got in about 10 minutes early.  Unfortunately as Dad and The Bean were driving to the airport to get me they got rear-ended.  Thankfully they, and the car, were fine, so happy ending.  Also thankfully, my mom called me to let me know they were waiting for the highway patrol to get there and would come get me as soon as they were done.  So thankful no one was hurt.  YAY family time and niece spoiling!  Oh man, Laughter is hilarious and she is going to wear me out.  She bounced for 5 minutes straight when I got home, and then followed me everywhere, shrieking with hysterical laughter.  Good times.

Epiphany

I took a picture of today's calendar (which also happens to be yesterday's...turns out I don't get 365 days of shoes because Saturday and Sunday are on one page.  Rude!), but it does not appear on my phone, so I must not have actually captured it.  I'll say my phone is possessed, but it was really probably something I did.

Good news is that I have other pictures for you.  Today at church we celebrated Epiphany.  The 12 days of Christmas last from Christmas day until January 5th, then the 6th is the day when the church celebrates the visit of the Magi to the baby (or toddler) Jesus.  We celebrated at church with a brunch between services, king's cake, and the blessing of chalk for people to do house blessings.  I celebrated by taking pictures of adorable shoes.

These are my feet and the feet of 3 of the awesome kiddos at church.  Love the sparkles, love the fuschia with flowers, and love the 22 different colored stripes (I love stripes as much as I love shoes!  I also just made up that number).

These are adorable AND they lit up!  And considering that light is one of the themes of Epiphany, they seem like the perfect  choice.
