Summer

It's June 1st, and it was in the upper 90s here, today.  I guess that means that summer is officially here.  I like summer.  I'm not so fond of the crazy heat we have here.  I like somewhere in the 70-80 range, but we're more likely to be in the 90-100+ range.  Despite the heat, the hubby and I spent a good chunk of the afternoon in the backyard.  I read, he played on his ipad, and we both sweated.  And now my eyes are gummy and I'm sniffing like crazy.  But it was nice despite the sweat and the allergens.  So, summer feet...what does that mean for you?  Flip flops?  Fun pedicures?  Toe rings?  I did a quick search and found some fun pictures.

No shoes in the first pic, but some definite summer feet.  As you know, I'm not a huge fan of flip flops, but that doesn't mean they don't make me think of summer.  I like the 2nd picture because of the fun colors, and the 3rd picture looks like one I would take.  The last one is my favorite, though, because it looks like my feet looked all summer long.  I went everywhere barefoot, even wandering around town, to the pool, to the library.  I'm sure my feet were constantly filthy, and way tougher than they are now.  In my Birkenstock phase I constantly had striped feet in the summer from the tan lines.  Aaaah...summer memories.

Giggle Endorphins

Today was a fairly laid-back kind of day.  We had brunch at the Bistro with the parents (joined later by AA, The Bean, Laughter and my brother-in-law).  Later we went to The Bean's softball game, where we alternately sat in lovely sunshine and shivered in horrible wind and rain.  Then it was up to my sister and brother-in-law's house for dinner.  The hubby and BiL watched basketball and my sister and the nieces and I played a game called Pandamonium that was absolutely hilarious.  We all giggled a ton.  Everything just kept getting funnier and funnier.  But then again, I have highly witty and hilarious family members, so what did I expect?  AA won twice, but only because she cheats. :-)  After that I went to the movie again, this time with AA and The Bean.

In shoe news, I let Flower choose the shoes she wanted on the blog since I hadn't taken a picture of her feet yet.

I wish you could also see the fun, pink flowers these shoes have for a lining.  Flower was very cute with the choice.  She picked 2 pairs and then had me pick the one to wear for the picture.

Then we took a group picture of feet:

Starting with my pink tennies at the bottom and working clockwise, we have:  Flower, my seester, Laughter, AA, and the Bean.  Seriously, where does The Bean get all of her adorable tennis shoes?

Arts Camp, Day 2

Day 2 is going very well.  The kids are a little wound up, but not as bad as they usually are on Wednesday.  It's calmer for me, too.  The first day there are always a million details to straighten out, and then things calm down as the week goes on.  I still run a lot, but not as bad as that first day.  The kids have some great shoes, though, so I took some pics today while we were outside for lunch.  They all thought I was crazy when I asked them if I could take pictures of their shoes, but no one told me no.

The color didn't come out great, but I loved the contrasting turquoise zipper on the gray tennies.

The pink and black belong to the feet of one of my favorite kiddos of all time.  I know I shouldn't have favorites, but on this one I just can't help myself.  She is awesome on mulitple levels.  Her friend in the boots is awesome too.  Who wouldn't be with great boots like that?

I love feet in circle pictures.

Oh, and here's my favorite quote of the day so far:

3rd grade girl:  "Pastor Sarah, we were just talking about a cookie in the shape of a witch that my grandma made me!"

Me:  "That sounds really cool."

3GG:  "Yeah, my dog ate it.  My dog's dead now."

Whoa...knowing this child, I'm pretty sure those 2 incidents aren't related, but dang, kid!

Adventures in Wine Tasting

Today a group of us went to Amador County for a friend's birthday.  The last trip to Amador was more of a casual outing, but this time we went specifically for wine tasting.  We hit 5 wineries and tasted some really yummy wines and some not-so-yummy wines.  I prefer white to red, so tasting for me is an exercise in the various faces I make while drinking red wine.  On the plus side, since I don't like reds, I don't tend to drink enough to get tipsy.  Anyway, it was a fun day with a very nice group of people, and we came home with a couple of bottles of new-to-us wine.  Here are the shoes that went wine tasting with us (well, the women anyway).

The brown sandals look flat in the picture but they actually have fairly high cork heels.  My flowered sandals have been on here before.  And the birthday girl was wearing the cute brown shoes.  She tried to protest by saying they were just on-sale shoes from Target, but hey, I love Target!  And on-sale is even better!  Shoes don't have to be fancy to be cute.  Everyone's favorites come in lots of different styles from lots of different places.

Party Shoes

Mondays are my day off, which means I'm not at church today.  My shoe calendar lives in my church office, so no picture of today's selection.

Instead, here are some pictures from my last day at my last call.  For my going away party everyone was asked to wear their favorite pair of shoes.  The tables were even decorated with vintage shoes from some of the older women's collections.  It was awesome.  A friend of mine then went around and took pictures of people's feet.  Here are some of the pictures:

You probably already figured out from the cross tattoo that mine are the red shoes with the double straps.  These were my favorite shoes at the time.  I bought them for my ordination.  I still like them very much, but I tend to be fickle and have moved on to new favorites.

Cute flats!  Something I'm not always good at.

More cute flats.  The photographer is wearing the pink shoes to the right of mine.

I love this one!  The red are a friend of mine, the boots are her son.  I love that he wore corduroy pants and green rain boots with faces on them to my party!
