Cookies

I was very Christmas-y today.  This morning I watched Santa Claus is Coming to Town while crocheting Laughter's Christmas present.  This evening I decorated Mom and Dad's big tree in the living room.  In between I spent the afternoon in the kitchen making Mocha Truffles, Mocha Pecan Balls, Coconut Pecan Praline Cookies, and Popcorn Balls.  I was going to do more but then it was time to work on getting dinner ready.  I think I'll do a couple of more kinds of cookies/candy tomorrow.  I'm in a groove, apparently.  Tonight's shoes are Christmas cookie themed to keep the groove going:

These are almost too pretty to eat.  And yet I would still eat them.  Because I am rude like that.

These just make me smile.

As do these!  I totally need a pair for when I bake Christmas cookies.

I've posted cookies made with this cookie cutter before, but I appreciate that someone made them into Christmas shoes.  Very festive.

I think I will now go read while gazing at the Christmas tree.  Yeah, it's a rough life...

Charlie Brown Christmas

Today was Chocolate Covered Anything Day!  Mmmmm (and kind of gross if taken too literally).  I've already done a bunch of chocolate shoe posts, so I'm not going in that direction tonight.  I was feeling kind of grumpy and down tonight so I decided to watch both Charlie Brown Christmas movies to try to cheer myself up, then went to see if there were any shoes to go with the movies.  There are a few, actually.

I'm sure hese would be cute if I could see the whole pair.  I don't understand why the picture is cut off, and I couldn't find another picture.  Rude.

 

I've posted these before, but they're adorable, so just pretend you've never seen them and think about chubby baby/toddler feet.

Snoopy is ice skating and the polka dots are red and green, so I say close enough.

Also not shoes, but dang.  Maybe they aren't as hard as they look, but for a non-crafty person such as myself they look next to impossible.

I'm going to take my grumpy behind to bed and try to keep Linus's reminder of Christmas in mind.

I Can't Stop Baking!

I rarely bake anymore because the hubby is diabetic and it would be insanely rude, in my opinion.  I also don't need to eat an entire batch of cookies by myself.  I bake occasionally when we go somewhere, but not often.  So, I've been baking some while I've been home.  The Bean and I tried a new recipe shortly after I got here, and then I tried another one that she found for coal (think rice krispie treats with oreos instead of cereal).  I was in trouble for making that one without her, so I will have to make it up to her when she gets back from her mom's on Sunday.  In the meantime, the brother was making Christmas Eve dinner and I said I would make dessert.  I made one of my favorites:  Mocha Pecan Balls.  They were super yummy even though they were more blobs than balls.  My mom had mentioned that she would like me to make the Sour Cream Cashew Drops that my grandma used to make for Christmas, so I made those for dessert for Christmas day.  I then decided to put most of it in the freezer since we didn't really need to eat 2 kinds of cookies, plus krumkake that the brother had made.  But, I had the baking bug, and I decided I need to just go with it.  So last night I made Cow Pattie Cookies.  We have no idea what they're actually called, but they look like a cow flew over the cooling racks and baking sheets, so we gave them that name.  Despite the disgusting name they are super rich and chocolately.  Again, I put the majority in the freezer.  Tonight I made chocolate chip cookies and did the same.  I figure Mom always needs after-school snacks for the kiddos, and it's always a good idea to have something in reserve just in case the Queen stops by or something.  Tomorrow I'm going with Double Chocolate Oatmeal cookies, and then who knows what The Bean and I will make when she gets home.  I know I just did cookie shoes a few weeks ago, but please bear with a few more.  Or just stop reading.  Whatever makes your heart happiest.

This is too pretty to eat, but it might be appropriate to bring out when the Queen comes?

Ballet slipper cookies.  Very sweet.

Yay, blue!  My grandma didn't appreciate blue food, but I can live with it.

I love Cookie Monster.  How can you not love Cookie Monster?

Eat the cookie.  Buy the Shoe.  And then drink the coffee from the mugs.  Works for me!

Either I'll get over this baking bug, or Mom's freezer will get to full.  Either way, I'm having fun!

Not So Much Shoes

The Bean and I have a date to watch A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, hopefully tomorrow.  I didn't watch The Great Pumpkin this year, so I must be better about my holiday Charlie Brown viewing.  Tonight's post is an homage to this great holiday classic:

I never paint my fingernails, but I might consider it for this.  Or I could do my toes this way, right?  But then no one would really see them.  Bummer.

Holy charm bracelet, Batman!  See?  It has the same charm as on the necklace above, but it makes a little more sense here.  Dang this thing is busy.  Not that I can say anything as I had to start a new charm bracelet because my first one was full.  (it's not Charlie Brown, though)

 

I need these by Thursday too, please.  I don't have any Thanksgiving earrings.  How sad is that?

Sorry about only 1 pair of shoes tonight, but it's not like there are a ton of this specifically themed shoes out there.  But in the spirit of Thanksgiving, I am grateful for these fun and silly objects to make me smile.  I'm also thankful for my nieces, but I don't seem to be doing so great at being auntie this trip home.  This was the one thing I always felt pretty good at, and now I'm screwing it up too.  Must. Do. Better.

The Bean's Extradordinary Peanut Butter Chocolate Cookies

Another day of sleeping in (but not spending nearly as much time in my pjs).  Today I got to hang out with Pippi and Tink, which is always awesome.  They are getting so big!  Tink is in kindergarten and Pippi is in 2nd grade.  Neither had homework tonight, but both wanted me to print out math and handwriting worksheets for them.  Then I had to grade them.  They both got 100% on the ones that I graded, and no I wasn't being kind.  They really are brilliant!  The Bean had to do actual science homework tonight and she was less than thrilled.  After dinner the Bean and I decided to try a new cookie recipe.  It had peanut butter, cocoa powder, peanut butter chips, chocolate chips, and Reese's peanut butter and chocolate minis.  Oh yeah, no calories there.  They turned out pretty well, and we had fun making them.  Tonight's post is named after what we named them.  Non-sequiter:  did I mention that both The Bean and Double A are only about 2 inches shorter than me now?  It's so weird to be able to basically look them in the eye.  So, I know I've already done cookie shoes, but in honor of tonight's successful cookie experiment, I'm going to do some more.

I love how detailed these are.  I'm not sure I would have the patience or the talent to accomplish this.

With this shape you could make a bunch of different kinds of shoes.  From how these look, I think you could also do wedges and booties.  Notice I said you, not I.

 

For your more casual shoe cookie occasions.

These are "felt wool baby shoes with wool buttercream cookie buckles."  The booties are actually cute, but who thought they needed buttercream cookie buckles?  Weird.

Hmmmm...stocking stuffer?

These are even weirder than the first set of baby shoes.  Maybe if they were part of a Halloween costume?  Or you were celebrating Chinese New Year?  (celebrating in an American way, since fortune cookies aren't actually Chinese)  Should we have gotten a pair of these for Flower when she was a baby?

 

I've also done Cookie Monster shoes before, and maybe even these, but they are so cute, and must be posted.  I do love me some Sesame Street.

On a final note:  It's definitely winter in Montana.  I've only been here 3 days and my nose is already starting to dry out and bleed, and my skin is insanely dry.  Go, little humidifier, go!

I think I'm hungry tonight.  Either that, or the fact that I haven't had chocolate for 2 weeks is getting to me. Because tonight it's all about dessert-y kind of shoes.

 

It started when I found these adorable s'mores slippers.  Look at how happy they are!  Then, I started looking for other kinds of edible shoes.  (I realize these aren't edible, they are just what prompted my search.  That, and apparently hunger)

Sprinkle shoes!  I love these because they look like all of the sparkly shoes I love.  They'd be sticky if  it rained, though.  Unless they are shellacked or something.

Cookie shoes!  Will someone please find me a shoe shaped cookie cutter?  Or just make me some, since mine would never be this cute?

 

 

I'm not terribly fond of marzipan, but the details on these are quite fun.

 

And, of course, I had to include chocolate, even though I've done it before.  These are probably too pretty to eat, right?  It's like the chocolate bunny, though.  Instead of nibbling on the ears, I'd start nibbling on a heel, then maybe a toe, and before you know it...shoes in my tummy.

I have to go to sleep now so I can stop thinking about yummy goodness.
