Mmmmm...Chocolate

A friend of mine posted this on my facebook wall this morning.

By this logic I eat a lot of salad.  Actually I do tend to eat a lot of actual salad, but I'm liking this concept better.  If only chocolate were as healthy as salad and didn't make me gain weight.

So, chocolate and shoes, 2 of my favorite things.  Did you know there are lots and lots of chocolate shoes out there?  Well there are, and here are some of my favorites:

Some of these I would totally wear if they were actual shoes.  The problem I have with all of these is that they are chocolate, and chocolate should be eaten. But they are also so pretty, and I feel like they would make lovely additions to my office shoe shrine.  Eat them or look at them?  Although, while I didn't look into it, I fear that chocolate shoes might cost almost as much as actual shoes, so I would probably never buy any.  I would rather buy real shoes.  But if anyone were to ever give me some chocolate shoes, then the dilemma would apply.

PS--remember yesterday when I was annoyed with our IT guy?  Last night after I got home I totally figured out how to fix the problem he was so ticked off about.  I am not that techy, and this was a really easy fix.  I'm really not sure what to say about that.

Yum!

Last week at least 5 people shared this video with me.  I tried to embed the video here, but couldn't figure out how this time, so you'll have to click the link.  Sorry to make you work so hard.  It's a video of chocolate shoes from a place called Tasty Image.  It always intrigues me how things will go in cycles, and I'll get the same picture or video shared to my Facebook page by numerous people.  JG and I were talking about it and she said, "well it's no secret that you like chocolate and shoes."  Yep, I have to agree.  I'm firmly out of the closet on both of those things.  So thank you to everyone who share the yumminess!  My response was always something like, "those are too pretty to eat.  Except that I would totally eat them."  Their site has a whole album of chocolate shoes, but here are a few of my favorites.

Mmmm..I love that they are made of chocolate AND they are containers for MORE chocolate.  These are people after my own chocolate-loving heart.  Now if only I had one of these beautiful and yummy shoes right now.

Memory Lane: 2013. 2014. (Notice how absent 2015 has been lately?  I definitely fell off on posting last year)

3 Things:

  1. Fabulous friends who share shoe stuff on my Facebook page.
  2. We had a potluck with all of the employees today.  It was awesome for team building and getting to know each other.  Also my introverted self hated it and wanted to hide under the table.  I'll focus on the first.
  3. The potluck involved chocolate.

Mmmm...Chocolate

Apparently today was National Chocolate Day and I almost missed it!  I didn't find out until this evening when I looked at today's holidays to give me some ideas for this post.  Thankfully I had some chocolate in the house so I could celebrate properly.  To continue that celebration, here are some (more) chocolate shoes:

They're so pretty.  The question is, would they be too pretty to actually eat?

In non-chocolate news, I had an interview with a temp agency today.  It went OK, and they will let me know if anything comes up.  I was way over-dressed.  Not compared to the staff, but compared to the other candidates I saw there.  Apparently we have very different ideas of what professional dress means.  Speaking of outfits, I realized that as I was purging shoes these last couple of times I got rid of all of my black heels.  I wore a black pencil skirt and a black and cream top and had no black shoes.  I ended up wearing last year's Easter shoes:

I still think they're a wee bit slutty, but the hubby loves them.  He thought they looked better than the turquoise pair I originally had on (I thought a pop of color would be nice).  They did coordinate with the outfit better than the turquoise, I guess.  And clearly I need to go black shoe shopping.

Milk Chocolate

Today is National Chili Dog Day, National Hamburger Day, and National Milk Chocolate Day.  You know which direction I'm going to go:

Milk Chocolate WOODEN shoes?  They should have rethought that from a marketing perspective.

Chocolate shoes in a box shaped like a purse!

If someone really really really loved me they would buy me some milk chocolate shoes to celebrate this historic day.  I'm just sayin'.

Hearts and Flowers

Happy Valentine's Day!  Or, as I like to think of it: a reason to eat a crap-ton of chocolate in the middle of February!  And speaking of chocolate, the hubby totally got me this morning.  He knows I'm not a morning person, so it's really easy to pull one over on me.  We decided no gifts this year, we were just going to enjoy the day together.  So this morning at 6:45 (ugh) he comes in, all bouncy, wakes me up and says we should go to breakfast.  Oooookay.  Then he goes into this big story about how he has acidophilus pills that really help when we go out but he can't find them, and would I please please please see if I can find them?  Did I mention I'm not a morning person?  I don't think much about it, I just get annoyed that he's not letting me sleep when he said he would.  As I'm walking down the hall I smell something, look up, and see this:

Awwww...chocolate and roses!  And just like 2 years ago, Pedro was in on the plan.  They definitely helped with my eat a crap-ton of chocolate plan!

As often happens on holidays, there are a ton of pictures, so more pictures, fewer words.

The calendar offerings for the day.

Valentine's shoes.  Pair 1 is crazy and funny.  Pair 3 isn't really a Valentine shoe, but it came up in the search and I thought they were cute.  The last pair looks like really crazy tattoos.

Chocolate Valentine shoes!

This year's Valentine's Day socks.  You can refresh your memory on last year's here.  I actually bought a 6 pack because they were cute and not expensive.  The other 3 went to SKD because she and I have a sock relationship.  She gives me socks, I giver her socks, her kids steal her socks.  It's a pattern.  I gave her the three pairs that have green on them.  And now that I think about it, she got the ones with the more fun patters (I know that's not grammatically correct).  Maybe I should hire one of her kids to steal them and give them back to me...

Happy February 14th!  Hope you have a fabulous day however you celebrate (or not)!

Ash Wednesday

Today is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent.  Lent is the season in the church that leads up to Holy Week and Easter.  It's considered to be a contemplative time in the church, and as such, many people use these (aproximately) 6 weeks to give something up (meat, TV, swearing, facebook, sweets, etc.) or to take on a new spiritual practice (regular bible study, more prayer time, charitable donations of time or money, etc).  It's a season that reminds us that we don't need so many of the things we think we must have in our lives, and a season that encourages us to strengthen our relationship with God and neighbor.

I traditionally give up chocolate.  I love chocolate more than I love shoes, and could gladly eat chocolate every day, multiple times a day.  Lent is a reminder that I can go through life without it, no matter how much I might crave it.  This year I'm giving up chocolate and coffee.  I gave up caffeine a couple of years ago and have done fairly well at staying off it, but now I think I'll give up coffee, especially those expensive trips to Starbucks that I seem to be taking more than I should lately.

I'm also going to try to take something on this year.  I've been missing yoga and haven't done it in forever, so I thought I'd try to make it a regular practice to do some yoga and maybe spend that time in prayer and contemplation.  I'm also going to try to break out my flute and play it more regularly.  So, wish me luck.

Some day, if I'm feeling really "spiritual", I'll give up shoes for Lent.  I'll just wear the same pair for 6 weeks.  But not this year.  Nope.  I've got purple shoes that need wearing, the first of which you'll get to see on Sunday.  In the meantime, here is today's calendar pic.  They are from the 30s and woud be cute if it weren't for that crazy back.  Makes my ankle chafe just looking at them.  But the hilarious part is that they also have a lipstick holster!

Question

Lent is coming; Ash Wednesday is March 5th this year.  Lent is the season of the church year leading up to Easter.  It's a contemplative time, and a time to think about our spirituality.  Some people look at the season as journeying toward the cross with Jesus.  Lent is kind of like New Year's because some people decide to make changes during the season.  One option is to give something up.  For instance, chocolate or meat or alcohol. Take it a step further, and you can donate the money you save not buying those things to a food pantry or World Hunger, or something like that.  Another option is to take something on.  Like prayer, meditation, service, etc.  For the last 20 years or more I have always given up chocolate.  It's a good reminder to me that as much as I love it, I don't actually need it, and there are more important things in life.  I've also given up caffeine for around half of those years (prompting my brother to say one year, "man, you must be a bitch to live with during Lent!  Brothers.  Aren't they special?).  So here's my question to you, my lovely readers:  Should I give up chocolate again this year?  I feel like with this leave I'm currently on, I am already taking on more things:  exercise, better eating, therapy, discernment.  Part of me thinks that's enough.  But then there's the other part of me.  The stuck-in-a-rut part.  The liking to do things the same way part.  In other words, the (ahem) Lutheran part.  I have until Tuesday to decide.  If I decide to give it up, then I must spend Mardi Gras eating as much chocolate as humanly possible.  What do you think?  Thoughts?  Suggestions?  (I've already decided I'm not giving up caffeine.  I've been drastically limiting my intake already, but don't feel like dealing with the withdrawal headache right now)

And now to shoes.  And shoes that are pretty much the antithesis of the first paragraph.

Cake shoes.  Not cupcakes that look like shoes, but shoes that look like cake.  Actual shoes.

Oh my goodness, I think these are perfect for me.  I would seriously just want to lick my own feet, though, and that would get me even more weird looks.

Aren't they beautiful and scrumptious looking?  I'm not sure I actually want a pair to wear, but as art they are pretty cool, and beautifully.  I of course love this pair because they are blue.  It makes me think of my grandma, though, who hated blue food, and so would therefor, presumably, hate these shoes.

For all of you who love the green.  Didn't want to leave you out.

There are more pictures.  You should really go check out the whole article, as it's pretty cool.

Hot Chocolate

Facebook very helpfully reminded me that 2 years ago today I got pulled over for the first time in my life.  No ticket, but it definitely freaked me out.  3 years ago today I had sinus surgery.  I'm celebrating the anniversary with a sinus infection, but I'm trying not to complain too much because I now only have a couple a year instead of one a month.  So yay for my ENT with his hammer and chisel!  5 years ago today I was in Florida for a continuing ed event.  The event might have been quite helpful if I hadn't been in a horrible depression at the time.  I think I cried a lot if I remember correctly.

Tonight's shoes are about none of these things, though, because today is also National Hot Chocolate Day!  Yum!  And it turns out that there is something called Hot Chocolate Designs.

How cute are these?  I especially love this last pair with the cherries, but I'll take a pair of each, thanks.  You should go check out the site, they have a ton of different designs.  I'll be taking my lovely sinus infection to bed now, thankyouverymuch.

Chocolate Day

I haven't posted in a few days.  I actually had a post for the 4th of July, found pictures and everything, and then I just forgot to actually write the silly thing.  The last 2 days I just haven't been feeling like writing anything.  I'm tired and the world is making me sad, y'all.  It's just depressing.  Thankfully today is Chocolate Day!  So basically I decided to screw the calories and eat my feelings.  (Holy buckets, though, click on that link and see their suggested menu...even I'm not that crazy!).  I am also posting (more) chocolate shoes.  Because people keep making them.

These are so pretty and it would be a shame to eat such works of art. Except I would totally eat them.  I wouldn't be able to help it.
