Butterflies

In addition to everything else, yesterday was also Learn About Butterflies Day.  I was going to include a couple of pictures in that post, but when I went looking for butterfly shoes, I found too many cute ones and decided they needed their own post.  Besides, today's holidays aren't that great.  I mean, it's the Ides of March, but who wants shoes about betrayal and stabbing?  Plus, Double A loves butterflies.  So here is a post to celebrate my beautiful second niece:

 

How crazy/fun are these?  I'm not sure I could see myself wearing them, but I think they're cool, and they come in a whole bunch of color combinations.

Double A is one of my lovers of green, so I had to include at lease one green pair.  Except that she doesn't wear heels, so these would only be loved in an aesthetic sense.

Double A and The Bean could have matching butterfly shoes! The Bean would actually wear the heels, and Double A could just set her pair beside her while we took a picture or something.

Yeah, these are for me.  They would make good wedding shoes.

Ahhh, now this is more Doulbe A's style.  Maybe not the colors so much, but definitely the butterflies and the comfy shoes.

Or these! I think we all need a pair.  The Bean and Flower could have their purple, Mom, The seester, Double A, and Laughter could have their green, and I could have my blue!

 

Is it weird that I like these?  They are bright and crazy and fun.  Zazzle has a whole bunch more butterfly tennies, too.

3 Things:

1. Double A.  My beautiful 15 year old niece.  She is sweet and loving and funny, and never fails to brighten my day.
2. Silly hubby, who was making me laugh even as he was making me roll my eyes on the phone last night.
3. Sunshine.  I need to spend more time in it and soak up some Vitamin D.  It was lovely to drive with the sun roof open earlier.

Ribbons

The other night I wrote about how I loved these shoelaces more than the shoes (or at least loved the shoes because of the shoelaces).

Mom wrote in  a comment that I could just go buy the ribbon and have my very own pair.  To which I had to smack myself in the forehead and say, "well, duh!"  She's so smart.  Tonight as I was out running errands I took a detour to find some ribbon.  I didn't find this particular ribbon (I will keep looking), but found a couple of other choices.  Wanna see?  Of course you do!

See?  Fun!  Or maybe I'm just odd, but I kind of don't care, because I think these are fun.

As are these.  Look how well the blue polka dots match the blue shoes!  I think I might have found a new obsession.  Thankfully ribbon is cheap.   Do you think I could do a kickstarter campaign for canvas shoe money?  Here are some other fun examples of ribbon shoelaces:

Today was an extremely difficult day.  It's the hubby and work, and I don't want to go into it, but he didn't have a good day, and he was super depressed.  So of course I was super depressed, and felt like it was my fault.  Which it isn't, I know this.  But the fact that I don't have a job is certainly my fault.  So I took on way too many emotions today, not all of them mine.  I need a job.  (don't get me started on how big of a loser I feel about still not having that particular poop in a group)  I got ribbon shoelaces.  Not really a comparable tradeoff, but at least the ribbons perked me up quite a bit.

More Birthday

I tried to post yesterday, but our internet was wonky and I couldn't do it.  I wanted to show you the awesome shoes my parents gave me for my birthday:

I opened these first and wore them on my birthday.  I've gotten a little addicted to this orangey coral color lately.

These were second and wow to the brightness!  Actually, these arrived on Thursday, addressed to the hubby (who was still in Mom's address book from Christmas).  She sent me a text to let me know the package was coming, but they arrived before I got the text and could tell the hubby, so he opened the box.  I think his exact words were, "why did we get weird ass shoes in the mail?"  He actually liked them once I put them on yesterday, so he is now forgiven for insulting the shoes.  Are they crazy?  Yep!   But they're also awesome.

It's actually pretty fun.  Usually the weekend ones are some kind of crazy that I'm forced to look at for 2 days, but I was pleasantly surprised for my birthday.

Speaking of birthday (and I'm going to drag this out for as long as possible), SDK took me out for sushi yesterday to celebrate, and then we went and wandered around DSW for awhile.  Neither of us bought anything, but we enjoyed looking and trying on.

Happy Easter!

Christ is risen!  Christ is risen indeed!  Alleluia!  How was your Easter?  Mine was quite nice, actually.  I went to church!  Then I came home and we talked to the hubby's family for awhile after which I had a lovely Easter nap.  While I was sleeping the hubby made whatever-is-in-the-kitchen pizza.  It was quite yummy.  Now we are hanging out with the puppies.  Time for Easter shoes!

First, the calendar.  This shoe is awesome!  I would totally wear this for Easter.

I don't need toe shoes, but these are adorable. I hope they are part of some fab Easter ballet.

DIY Easter shoes!  Next year we should all make a pair.

What's up with me and pink lately?  These are super fun.  I'm also really into wedges right now.  Look at all the fun colors in these heels.

These are the shoes I wore this morning.  Nothing new this year, but these are still one of my favorite pairs.  And see?  Wedges again.

These are a pair of Clarks that I own.  I wore them a couple of weeks ago when I went to a training, and a friend of mine from seminary said she had the same shoes.  I went to her church this morning and she was wearing these exact shoes!  It was cool, but maybe you had to be there.

Holy Saturday

It's amazing how spending the day outside in the fresh air can make a person so tired.  And puppies.  The dogs are wiped out.  We decided to spend our Holy Saturday having a family adventure and took the dogs to Folsom Lake.  It was gorgeous, and we had a great time.  The humans enjoyed the beautiful weather while the puppies enjoyed all the new and interesting (i.e. disgusting) things to smell.

Tallulah was all about frolicking in the sand.

While Chalupah learned to fetch sticks from the water.

It was a good day and now we're all tired.  Puppies are snoozing, hubby is in bed, I'm about to go there myself.  Tonight's shoes don't really have a theme, exactly, they're just shoes I like that seem kind of springy.

 I wish I had these right now to wear for Easter tomorrow!

I love these, but it's the same complaint I always have about flip flops:  You can't see the pretty part!  And the pretty part just gets filthy.

 

The PF sent these to me.  If I can't have the top pair for tomorrow, then I definitely want these.  Actually, can I just have both?

 

These look kind of gray to me right now, but they are a really light, icy blue.  I love the detailing, if not the slingback.

 

I would like the coral and the turquoise, please.  Maybe one color on each foot.

Yes, yes, and yes.  Also ignoring that darn thing between the toes on the far right pair.

I'm not sure I would buy these, but they are so fun and bright.  I would definitely try them on.

Palm Sunday Birthday

Today is Palm Sunday, the beginning of Holy Week and the day when we celebrate Jesus' entry into Jerusalem.  I had really good intentions of going to church but woke up with the sinus headache from hell and stayed in bed instead.  Which stinks, because I enjoy  Palm Sunday.  Although, I'm not as fond of reading the passion on the same day.  I get it, lots of people don't go on Good Friday, so don't hear the Passion, but still.  I guess I'm a Palm Sunday purist.  Oh well, let's look at shoes:

Very Beachy, not so much Palm Sunday churchy, but I'd still wear them.

Shoes made out of Palms!  This is waaaaay more complicated than simply making a cross out of your palm.  Not quite as symbolic, though.

Also Beachy, but I really want a pair like this for next Palm Sunday.  I do love a theme!

Or these!  Although the above pair would show better under my alb if I'm back in the parish.

These are kind of tie-dyed looking palms.  But I love the colors.

Today is also extra special for another reason:  It's DJ's 18th birthday!  I can hardly believe it's been 18 years since this little bundle of energy came into our lives.  She's about to graduate high school and go into the navy.  She wants to be a nurse.  She's currently taking EMT classes.  She's amazing.  Since she was born in 1997, here are some shoes from that year:

Ahhh...clunky platforms.  Not palms, but plant related.

Doc Martens.  I never owned a pair, but man were they popular.

Stripes, good.  Rainbow colors, awesome.  Platforms this crazy, well, crazy.

This is the exact shoe I wore for a good chunk of 1997.  This or hiking boots.  I did have some dress shoes, but I wasn't going through much of a shoe craze at that time.

DJ, of course, spent 1997 in adorable baby shoes, and being adorable in general.  Happy Birthday, oldest niece!  Love you to the moon and back!

Inbox Purge

First, let me say thank you for all of your lovely comments about the pictures in last night's post.  I  never feel like I have a good eye for photography.  Last night the pictures just came naturally, though, and I had fun stacking up books and deciding which shoe to go with the stack.  Maybe the key is that for once I didn't over-think things.

So today I finally got around to cleaning out my email inbox.  I used to be really organized about this and never had more emails in the inbox than I could see in one screen shot.  I think I had over 300 to go through this time.  The fun (and slightly embarrassing) thing about this process was finding a whole slew of pins the Pinterest Friend has sent me that I haven't featured on here.

That's just a whole lot of pink happening with those boots.  These say 80s to me, but I have no idea when they are from.

 

Baseball shoes.  Have I ever done a baseball post?

Do I even have to tell you how I feel about these?  One word:  shoegasm.

Love these also.  They're so dainty looking.  They say Easter shoes, or afternoon tea shoes to me.

So cute.  Hopefully the Potential Baby won't inherit my hatred of the thing between my toes.

Look how pretty this card is.  It looks kind of vintage to me, but really, what do I know?  I just guess and make stuff up.

Also not shoes.  Pup holders!  My puppies would never stand for this.  Actually they would.  They would stand for it, then run around and jump all over the car because they aren't banished to the backseat like usual.

LOVE these.  I'm actually pretty sure I've used some of these before, but I can't remember, don't feel like taking the time to look, and figure if they're pretty why not look at them again?

That PF is awesome, isn't she?  If you are the praying sort, you might pray for discernment for them.  They're trying to figure out things in Idaho and whether or not they might have to come back to California for awhile.  They're good peeps and they deserve good stuff.

Finally, speaking of prayers:  The hubby's sister was diagnosed with shingles this week.  She is in major pain but still trying to go to work.  I still haven't met her, but even I could tell how much pain she was in on the phone today.  I know she would appreciate your prayers.
