Ahhhhh

We were supposed to go to the office today, but for a variety of reasons we ended up staying home.  I slept in!  I finished a book!  I crocheted!  I caught up on some TV watching!  I snuggled puppies!  I ate chocolate!  It was a lovely and relaxing day and I soooo needed it.  Here is a selection of what came up when I typed in "lovely and relaxing shoes."  I'll leave it up to you as to whether they are either, neither, or both.

I hope your day was also lovely and relaxing.

Short and Sweet

I have a post in my head.  I also have a massive headache in my head which is not allowing the post to come out tonight.  I also haven't posted in several days because work has been crazy-busy and I've mostly been going to bed as soon as we get home after crazy-long days.  So instead of the post that's in my head, which I will hopefully be able to do tomorrow, I'm just going with a short post:

My cousin sent me the top picture awhile back and it's been hanging out in my ideas folder since.  I had my first pedicure in something like a year today, so it seemed appropriate to break out.  Then I found the how-to pictures.  These are adorable and the very talented Double A should do this to my toes next time I'm in Montana.  In the meantime this stubborn, ridiculous headache and I are going to bed.

Penultimate

Today's post is highly inaccurate.  First of all, for some reason today it popped into my head that today is the penultimate day of my being 40.  It's not, because penultimate means second to last, so it was actually yesterday, with today being the last.  Second, I typed in "penultimate shoes" and chose a bunch I liked, but have no idea why they were labeled that way or what in the heck they have to do with being penultimate.

I love this.  It must be something about the color combination and detail.

Shoe art!  And cool, shiny, red Mary Janes.  Always good.

I like these in a weird way.  Love the colors.  Think they're all really odd.  Somehow those two things combined to have me liking them (although less so the middle pair).

Oh my gosh these are hilarious.  I think they color and shape are great, but the added cat faces make them quirky and awesome and hilarious.

I assume this is a wedding shoe.  I think I'd like it better if it were a color so the detailing would pop, but even white they are pretty fun.

I'm sure today is the penultimate something.  Let me know if you know of something.

Mishmash

Several people have sent me things recently, so I thought I would share them with you.

First, SKD sent me this article about the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and its collection of shoes from the past 50 years.  It's currently in storage, but the collection has over 5,000 pairs of shoes.  Sounds fun to me!  I went to the Met once, but it was so insanely crowded I almost had an anxiety attack (note to self, DON'T go on Thanksgiving weekend).  You should go read the article, but here are 2 of the pairs I thought were interesting:

You know how I feel about flip flops, but these are amazing.  I would wear these.  Or decorate with them.

And of course I love the flower power boots from the 60s.

The Pinterest sent me these the other day.  I'm not exactly sure why except that they are insane and hilarious and therefor awesome.  Who wears these?

She also sent this.  It's shoe are!  It's empowering!  Hooray!

Aaaaand she found nerd socks.  This was totally me as a kid.  Go outside and play?  OK, how about I go outside and read?  Does that count?  This are also a nice segue into the fact that today is Squirrel Appreciation Day.

Is it me or do these look like bunnies with squirrel tails?  Whatever.  The PB could wear them on Squirrel Appreciation Day and be adorable and appropriately themed.

Finally, Mom sent this picture of Flower's adorable snow boots (with a shoe photo bomb by Laughter).

Finally finally, today is also National Hugging Day.  No shoes, just an invitation to go hug someone you love.  You could also hug someone you don't love, but that might lead to all kinds of awkwardness.

Silent Night, Holy Night

It's Christmas Eve, and there are no children at my parents' house (a rare occurence), so it's a calm and quiet evening for us.  Flower, Pippi, Tink, and Laughter were all here for part of the day, so it was loud chaos there for awhile.  The brother made dinner for us, and I've done a little baking, but other than that we're all just hanging out being introverted and doing our own things.  In the spirit of that first Silent Night (which most likely was anything but silent), I'm going to give you some Christmas shoe art, and keep all the blah blah to myself.

Merry Christmas, my friends.  May the light of Christ bring you joy and peace.
