Pumpkins

It's almost Halloween, so that means it's time for some pumpkin shoes!

I really want the hubby to wear these for Halloween.  He's such a spoilsport.

Pumpkin shoes for the Pumpkin Seed?

I would totally wear these if the hubby would wear the first pair.  Heck, I'd wear the first pair and be twins with him if I thought I could get him to go along with it.

 

These are rather strange.  And the frighten me a bit.  They pumpkins look more red than orange, which make me think  blood.

I would also wear these if they came in my size.

I think I might have posted this once before, but I still think it's an adorable picture, and it gives me the opportunity to post this one:

 

The one time in my life I've ever drawn something freehand and been 99% pleased with how it turned out.  And it's a fake pumpkin so I'm enjoying it again this year.

OK, I realize I titled the post "pumpkins" and then posted most Jack-o-Lanterns, but they're made of pumpkins, right?  Or maybe I should change the title of the post, but I'm too lazy.

I hope you all had a wonderful turkey day, full of whatever makes you the happiest.  We had a quiet morning and then spent the afternoon with friends, so it was a very nice day.  I wore my turkey socks, as is only appropriate:

They were inside my boots, so no one actually saw them, but I knew they were there. 

Speaking of turkeys, Double A lived up to her awesome nickname this week with her nails:

The kid's got talent, I tell you.  I can't even paint my nails in a solid color and have them look decent.  She painted a frickin' turkey on hers!

And now some shoes.

I love these three pairs as a set.  I would need three babies to wear them and be appropriately themed.  They could then sit in the middle of the table and be adorable, Thanksgiving centerpieces.

I need these to go with my turkey socks!

Today was not only Thanksgiving, but also my parents 49th wedding anniversary!  Yay, parents!  I looked it up, and the gift for the 49th anniversary is "luxury goods."  Hmmm...I don't think the parents got each other any luxury goods this year.  I typed in the phrase luxury shoes, though, and the first thing that came up was this:

Wow.  That is insane.  And ugly.  Does this say luxury to you?  Because it sure as heck does not say it to me.

 

I like these better, but they still look more cheap than luxurious to me.  What's up with that?

Huh.  These were labeled "diamante."  I should google that and see if it's something fancy, but I'm too full of turkey to go research.  I don't hate these, but I'm not fond of them, either.

 

Sparkly!  I don't know if these are luxurious necessarily, but I do love the sparkle.

Mom loves green, so I had to include some green luxury shoes for her.  I'm not sure what the detail on the back is, and would like them better without it, but these are pretty for the most part.

Even if your day didn't involve luxury items, I hope it involved loved ones in some way shape or form.  And dessert.

Halloween

Like last year, tonight's post is a lot of pictures without much commentary because apparently I'm old and Halloween wears me out now.

New socks!  I totally wore these with capris all day.

Puppy sweaters.  Poor Tallulah looked like she needed therapy for the first hour or so.  Then she seemed to get used to it.  Chalupah just thought he was hot stuff as soon as I put it on him.

 

Teeny pumpkin friend.  I made it out of part of the centerpiece from our dinner party last Saturday.

I love these guys.  The hubby had to work today, so I had to make the storm troopers.  I'll have to compare to the pictures from last year to see how I did.

I'm Batbear.

Movie on the side of the house, cauldron full of theater box candy, and a crock pot full of hot cider (that I made myself, thank you very much).

It was a good day.  I carved a pumpkin, roasted pumpkin seeds, decorated other pumpkins, made cider handed out candy to about 110 kids, and snuggled puppies in sweaters, all while being watched over by the Dark Knight.

I'm Back

Sooooo....I think this is the longest I've gone without posting, and there really isn't a reason for it.  I just haven't had the desire to post lately.  No, that's not exactly true.  I've thought about it pretty much every day and thought about what I might write, but when it came down to it I just never did the writing.  But now it's Halloween tomorrow, so I need to post something festive. 

Today was the first time I've even worn Halloween socks this year.  It's been warm enough that I haven't felt like wearing socks, and not being at church with the staff and the preschoolers, I didn't even have anyone to show off my fun socks to.  But now I'm out of time and wanted to at least wear socks for a couple of days before the month is over.

And now we move on to shoes .  That cat is a little weird, but the shoes are adorable.

Yes please.  I'll take one of each pair for the PB.

Simple and awesome.  My mom could totally make me a pair of these because she's a very talented painter.

 

Mrs. Frankenstein shoes!  I might actually wear these on days other than Halloween...

Sparkly!  That spider web can't be comfortable though.

I'm assuming these are from the same line.  Wow these are busy.

These could possibly just be decorative, but they're cool either way.

As are these.  They make me want to sing, "one bat hanging in my belfry...one bat flies in through the door.  Now there's TWO bats in my belfry.  But wait...there's more!"

Aaah...Lunch

I had lunch with a lovely friend today.  Actually, I think you might be able to accurately use the word "broad" to describe her.  But in a totally good way.  She just lays it out there.  Says it like she sees it.  From some people I would be completely offended by half of what she says.  From her it just seems normal.  So it was a good time all around.  The setting didn't hurt, either:

Clearly this means we need farm shoes.  Because cows and piggies are cute.

See?  Barns are also cute on shoes!

Heehee.  This whole thing makes me giggle.

Is it weird that I would wear these?  The sheep ones would be perfect for all of the sheep story Sundays at church.

Farm equipment shoes!

I'm not sure what's on the green boots.  Horses and cow pattern fit the farm pattern, though.

So, lunch at The Farm.  Farm shoes.  Old McDonald had a farm.  Yeah, I just needed a third something to finish that sentence.  

Random:  I got home this afternoon and the hubby hadn't turned the AC on (I know this sounds weird to those of you who have had snow in the last week...we have had temps in the 90s).  It was 84 degrees in the house and he was wearing a sweatshirt.  My husband was weird.

Pumpkins Everywhere

I'm sure you've noticed that once September hits pumpkin flavors appear everywhere.  Starbucks brings back the pumpkin spice latte, in the stores I've seen pumpkin coffee creamer, pumpkin cookies, even pumpkin yogurt (which I can't bring myself to try).  Facebook even has a page titled Pumpkin Flavored Everything  I like pumpkin, but not as much as others seem to.  I've tried the latte periodically, but never more than once a Fall.  I like pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving.  I'm a fan of pumpkin cake and pumpkin soups.  I rarely carve my Halloween pumpkins so I can chop them up later and make puree for the freezer.  However you feel about them, it's Pumpkin-palooza right now.  Obviously this means we need some pumpkin shoes:

Despite the decorations already out, it's not Halloween yet, so we're only going with pumpkins, nothing overtly Halloween-y. How cute are these little baby shoes?

Apparently babies are fond of dressing seasonally.

And small children, too.  I love the polka dots on the shoes and on the ribbons.

Dang, another pattern I need to find.  Actually, I think I could probably figure these out without a pattern.  Too bad I don't know any babies who need pumpkin shoes.

 

These crack me up.  The pumpkin shaped backs are funny enough, but I have no idea whats going on in the front.  Are they supposed to look like the roll?  Maybe they're supposed to look like Cinderella's carriage?   I'm coming down firmly on no for these.  I don't even want to wear them as a theme.
