Tiiiiiiired

My patootie is dragging today.  I have no idea why, really, but dang am I tired. Part of it is the weather which is gray and gloomy but not yet raining.  I hope it rains. So I thought I'd continue with yesterday's original inspiration of Socktober, but this time go with Halloween fuzzy socks, because I would just like to curl up in some comfy clothes and fuzzy, appropriately-themed socks and read/sleep for the rest of the day.  I give them to you without comment as I'm too tired to come up with anything, except, "oooh, cute and fuzzy."

I must get back to work now and try not to fall asleep at my desk.

Mmmm...Pie

It's National Pi Day!  You know, π, or 3.14159 etc.  And March 14 is 3-14, so it's Pi day.  Which isn't that exiting to celebrate, but if you add an E and make it PIE day, then we have a holiday!  I was joking with SKD today that with the hubby away at training I was shooting for being an evil, tyrant, bitch-boss, but I think I ruined it by bringing pie!  Heehee.  I think we have pretty darn awesome employees, so I wouldn't actually want to be mean.  Plus, I'm Norwegian and we express our appreciation through food.  Since I can't give you actual pie, how about some shoes?

I would totally wear these on Pi Day.  And they're blue, which just seals the deal even more.

These are hilarious.  I wouldn't wear them, but I appreciate the detail.

Wow, that's commitment to a theme right there. The bent fork for a heel is a nice touch.

Not pie.  Today is also National Workplace Napping Day.  I guess with the time change screwing with everyone's system, and then eating all that pie, a nap might just be in order.  I like to nap in fuzzy socks, and how fun are these?

Today had quite a few holidays, and the list is actually more fun/interesting than some days, which can be just plain weird.

I looked for potato chip shoes, but didn't really find anything.  And I know many of you aren't terribly fond of spiders, so I opted not to post any, just link to the google images in case you actually like spiders and want to look at shoes.  Did you fill your stapler today?  Ask a question?  Do a craft with a child?  Celebrate a scientist?

Memory Lane: 2013. 2014. 2015.

3 Things:

  1. I've been sleeping with the sliding door in our bedroom open the last couple of nights and it's been lovely to have the fresh air and be able to listen to the rain.
  2. Pie!  Not only eating it, but sharing it.  My only wish is that I'd had forethought to bake it myself.
  3. Puppies came to work with me today.  Chalupah is under my desk sleeping with his head on my foot.

A Plethora of Holidays

Today was many things.  It was Monday, the 10th day of August.  It was another day in the office.  It was a day of dealing with icky car stuff.  It was a day of hubby grumpiness.  It was also many holidays, starting with S'mores day!  Mmmmm...chocolate.  I have no graham crackers, marshmallows OR chocolate, so I shall celebrate with shoes (shocking, I know).

I've posted these before, but I love their little smug happy faces.

I don't have any back story on these, so I'm not sure what's up with them.  Do they make cool S'mores footprints?  Because that would be awesome.

There's a fleep flop for everything!

Today was also World Lion Day.  We're going to avoid all of the recent Lion Scandal and just go straight to shoes.

These are hilariously scary.

Cute baby lions for cute baby feet.

Heehee.  Lion butt!

Today was also National Lazy Day.  Dang, I wish I could have taken advantage of this one. It's too hot here for what I would want to wear for Lazy Day

Lazy days definitely call for fuzzy slippers.

Or at the very least fuzzy socks.  My Facebook memories showed that six years ago last week I was enjoying a rainy day wearing sweats and fuzzy socks.  I clearly did not live in California at that time.  Lazy day is making me nostalgic for chilly, rainy days.

No more shoes, but 2 more holidays.  Today was National Duran Duran Appreciation Day.  I think School House Rock needs to a video on how a holiday gets created and recognized, because I'm not sure why Duran Duran has their own day.  I'm not saying anything negative, I rather like them, but their own day?  Weird.

Aaaaand it's National Spoil Your Dog day.  But that's every day in our house.  In fact, they got ANOTHER froggy yesterday.  We were at Ross and the hubby found it for just a couple of dollars, so of course we had to spoil our puppies. We've got quite the froggy family happening:

Lazy Day

It was a delightfully quiet day. I slept in, then hung out with Mom until it was time to pick the Bean up from school. She and I went to the grocery store and cooked a dinner of chili and cornbread together. The brother and Double A joined us for dinner. After they left I watched a little tv, read, drank some tea, and got ready for bed. Lovely. I spent a good chunk of the day in my pjs, which means I spent a good chunk of the day in my fuzzy socks. I know I've done fuzzy socks before, and I know they aren't shoes, but it's my blog, and I'll post socks if I want to.

We'll, you can definitely tell I have a thing for stripes! I could have sworn I chose pictures of socks with other patterns...

And this just makes me smile. Pretty sure I need to make a fuzzy sock puppet!

I'm currently wearing turquoise fuzzy socks with snowflakes on them. I'm always so hot in California that I rarely get to wear fuzzy socks, so I have to enjoy it as much as possible when I'm home. I can even sleep in them! And yes, I know this whole post just proves that I'm weird, but I'm OK with that.

Sleepover Socks

The sleepover with Pippi last night was lovely.  She has always cracked me up.  She stayed in the cubby until about 6 this morning when she was cold and climbed in with me.  She said, "aaahh...yes, I can sleep in here!"   Yep, cracks me up.  We even wore fuzzy socks for the event:

The BFF gave these to me for Christmas and they are soooo snuggly.  Knee high fuzzy socks!  Now if only I wasn't so freakin hot all of the time I would wear them lots and lots and lots.  I didn't model them while wearing them because the snowflakes look bad when stretched over my calves.  Don't they go nicely with my turquoise plaid jammies?

Pippi asked if I had a pair she could wear, so she got these.  If you look, you'll see that the one on the left is on inside out.  She refused to believe me when I told her.  She also had adorable cupcake jammies.  It was a totally stylin' slumber party.

Tonight I'm headed to sleep over with Laughter and Flower.  It's tough being this popular, but someone has to do it....

Comfort

I almost didn't post tonight because I'm in such a funky mood.  The good news is, I don't have a sinus infection!  The bad news is that I do have a virus, and I feel fairly crappy.  It's mostly a headache and ear pressure, with some delightful wheezing and coughing thrown in.  So I'm tired and achy and blah.  I'm also feeling blah for other reasons, which is a topic for another post.  At any rate, I wasn't going to subject you to my blah-ness, but then I started thinking about what I like to do for comfort when I feel icky (besides eating...eating my feelings is bad, but it happens).  If it weren't still quite warm here I would put on sweats and fuzzy socks and snuggle up in bed with tea and a book.  The book will still happen, but alas, it's way too hot for the others.  So, next best thing:

I went with all of my favorites:  blue, stripes, fuzzy, penguinos.  I know I've posted about fuzzy socks before (twice, actually), but it's my blog, and I'll repost if I want to.

Fuzzy Socks

As usual, post-camp, I have gotten sick.  Feels like another sinus infection and possibly bronchitis, but I won't know for sure until I see the doctor on Tuesday.  Being sick makes me want to snuggle in bed in comfy clothes and fuzzy socks.  At least if it wasn't summer, and hot.  But, I've been thinking about fuzzy socks so here you go:

Yay stripes!  I would like a pair of each, please.

Usually I love polka dots, and I like these just fine, but not as much as I love the stripes.

Oooh, stripes AND cute animal faces!  Actually, the hubby got me some like these a couple of Christmases ago.  He got the frogs with variegated green stripes, and pink striped ones with pigs.  I called them my Fighting Frogs of Fury.  I had a name for the pigs, too, but now I can't remember it.  Something with P alliteration.  For now, though, I will take my non fuzzy striped sock feet to bed and try to feel better.

Pink

I'm not much of a pink person.  Any shade of blue and I'm your girl.  I don't hate pink, but it's not my favorite.  But then this popped up for the first day of February on the calendar:
They are more of a hot pink than they show here, and I love the shape.  They are from the 80s, they are pink, they are kind of an odd shape, and yet I squeed a little when I saw them this morning.  (of course, I'm on pain pills at the moment, so maybe that's it?)

In other pink news, I recently purchased these:

I love me some fuzzy socks, and I own way too many pairs already, but the other day I was gone and had forgotten warm socks.  So I went shopping.  All they had were Valentine socks, so I ended up with pink, but I really like the cute owl and the Mary Jane strap.  They even have grippers on the bottom, so despite the pink-ness, I'd say my $4.99 was well spent.

Pink isn't awful, it's just not my absolute favorite.  If you love pink, I have no problem with you.  Well, unless you are over-the-top excessive on the pink, and then I will probably roll my eyes.  But I once got accused of having an all blue wardrobe, so I have no room to talk.
