Mousse?

Apparently today was National Mousse Day!  I need to find these things out sooner so I can partake and indulge in some yumminess.  I would have eaten chocolate mousse for breakfast if I'd known!  Mousse shoes don't really exist, so I'm taking some liberty and going with MOOSE shoes instead:

Baby shoes, slippers, and boots.  These are a few of my favorite things!  Hmmm...maybe I need to do a Sound of Music post one of these days....

Anyhoo, I hope you had a good National Mousse Day, whatever kind of moose it may or may not have involved. Our day was up and down.  Not great, but the hubby was really upbeat about some things, so that balanced my more cynical viewpoint.  We did receive some happy mail, though, so that helped.  Yay, mail!

November 28

So sometimes when I'm trying to find something to inspire me to post, I just type random phrases into google and see what pops up.  Today after trying a few things and not coming up with anything, I typed in "28 shoes" (yes all I could come up with was the date) and here is a selection of what I found:

I love this.  I have no idea what it has to do with 28, though.  Actually that's true of all of tonight's shoes.

Sparkly!  I'm guessing these are wedding shoes of some variety.

This is a weird shoe, but I kind of like it.  I love the colors, and the shape is interesting.  I'd love to try it on to see how it looks.

Awwww...for the little shoe lover in your lifee.

This says Christmas party to me.

These just say fun to me.  Love them.

I love this, too.  I keep trying to find yellow shoes and not having any luck.

So there is my random post for the evening.  I'm now going to take my puppies and my headache and go to bed.

Happy Birthday, Auntie!

Yesterday was Thanksgiving and Mom and Dad's anniversary, today is my auntie's birthday.  She's still just as cool as the last time I wrote on her birthday, probably even cooler.  To celebrate, here are some shoes that the internet tells me are from around the time of her birth (as always, who knows if the internet is telling me the truth?).

Oh man, wouldn't it be nice if I could buy a pair of shoes for $3.98?

These belong with an awesome green outfit in a fabulous movie from the 50s.

Shiny, sparkly, AND they have bows!  Well, at least one does...

These would have gone well in my Canadian post from last year.

Oooh...these were listed as "boudoir slippers."  Putting the word "boudoir" in a phrase automatically makes anything sound fancier.

Love the red.  Wish I could wear slingbacks.

Yes!  I really have no idea what my fascination is with this type of shoe, but I can't help it.  If it's even spectator-pump adjacent I'm bound to like it.

I hope you've all recovered from your food coma hangovers.  Thanks for hanging out with me and helping me celebrate the bestest auntie ever!

Happy Thanksiversary!

I hope you all had a wonderful turkey day, full of whatever makes you the happiest.  We had a quiet morning and then spent the afternoon with friends, so it was a very nice day.  I wore my turkey socks, as is only appropriate:

They were inside my boots, so no one actually saw them, but I knew they were there.

Speaking of turkeys, Double A lived up to her awesome nickname this week with her nails:

The kid's got talent, I tell you.  I can't even paint my nails in a solid color and have them look decent.  She painted a frickin' turkey on hers!

And now some shoes.

I love these three pairs as a set.  I would need three babies to wear them and be appropriately themed.  They could then sit in the middle of the table and be adorable, Thanksgiving centerpieces.

I need these to go with my turkey socks!

Today was not only Thanksgiving, but also my parents 49th wedding anniversary!  Yay, parents!  I looked it up, and the gift for the 49th anniversary is "luxury goods."  Hmmm...I don't think the parents got each other any luxury goods this year.  I typed in the phrase luxury shoes, though, and the first thing that came up was this:

Wow.  That is insane.  And ugly.  Does this say luxury to you?  Because it sure as heck does not say it to me.

I like these better, but they still look more cheap than luxurious to me.  What's up with that?

Huh.  These were labeled "diamante."  I should google that and see if it's something fancy, but I'm too full of turkey to go research.  I don't hate these, but I'm not fond of them, either.

Sparkly!  I don't know if these are luxurious necessarily, but I do love the sparkle.

Mom loves green, so I had to include some green luxury shoes for her.  I'm not sure what the detail on the back is, and would like them better without it, but these are pretty for the most part.

Even if your day didn't involve luxury items, I hope it involved loved ones in some way shape or form.  And dessert.

Anniversary

Sunday marked the 45th anniversary of the ordination of women in the predecessor churches of what became the Evangelical Church in America.  My Facebook timeline was full of stories celebrating this anniversary, including this cover from the Lutheran:

That picture was often placed alongside this, more recent, cover:

This is the first female presiding bishop of the ELCA, elected a couple of years ago.  At least it didn't take 50 years to happen?

So, what kind of red ordination shoes were around for the 1970s pastor?  Let's take a look!

I don't fully hate these, but I'm definitely not fond of the pattern.

These, on the other hand, I'm quite fond of.

These, too.  These are vintage 70s shoes evoking the style of vintage 20s shoes?

I feel like I should hate this more than I do.  It wouldn't be my first choice for an ordination shoe, though, that's for sure.

Whoa.  These certainly make a statement of some kind.  I have no idea what that statement is, though.

These are very similar to the 2nd pair, but in addition to being red t-straps, they are also suede and peep toe.  I'm thinking these are my choice for my imaginary 1970 ordination shoes.

It was fun on Sunday to see all of the posts on Facebook, but I didn't post anything myself, nor did I post here, because I had majorly mixed emotions.  I absolutely celebrate the women who forged the path for others to follow to become ordained.  I thank them for their work and their commitment.  But on a personal level I felt weird because they fought to give me the right to be ordained and now I'm not ordained any longer.  I'm still having a hard time putting my feelings into words, beyond the word "weird."  I feel weird.  Thank goodness SKD came over to  make snowmen or I probably would have spent the whole day crying instead of just part of the morning.  Overall, though, I am happy we have women pastors, so I will just focus on the amazing women I know who are pastors, thank the ones who helped to form my faith life, and be happy the anniversary gave me a chance to look up red shoes from the 70s.

Crafternoon

In October SKD, the hubby, and I spent a lovely afternoon painting pumpkins.  We had such a good time we decided we needed to do it more often.  And so yesterday we did.  It probably should have been a more Thanksgiving-related craft, but we saw a video on Facebook and had all of the supplies between us, so we went with snowmen, which we both love:

The video showed them with white hats, made from the toes of the same sock used to make their bodies, but SKD has a ton of mismatched socks (4 kids apparently can lose a lot of socks over time!), so we went with colored hats and matching scarves.  It was a lot of fun, and a nice, silly way to spend the afternoon in the midst of all the crazy-stressful-depression of late.

Because I am a dork, I dressed appropriated for the occasion with snowman socks and earrings.

Because I am a bossy dork, I also decreed that everyone was only allowed to drink out of snowman cups.

Because how cute are these?  SKD was a good sport about it, and the hubby drank one cup of iced tea, but then said since he wasn't crafting he was going to drink out of something bigger.  Silly hubby.  And I also completely understand.

OK, obviously today will be snowman related in terms of shoes.  Some of you actually have snow whereas we in California have to create our snowmen out of socks.

I've posted some of these before, and I'm not even going to apologize for it.  I love snowmen, baby shoes, and slippers, so of course I love the entire selection.  And the Olaf shoes are for The Bean, since she's a fan.

Maybe in January we'll do a turkey craft of some sort...
