Last Day of 2015

Can you believe we're at the end of another year?  The calendar was celebratory with sparkles:

Pink this year.  One of the few themes I've seen from the calendar is sparkly shoes for New Year's Eve.  2014 was a crazy sparkly wedge, and 2013 was a rather odd silver sparkly shoe.  I think this year's offering is my favorite of the 3.

I was excited to see a familiar book pop up on the last day of the book calendar this morning:

And then I read the description.  If you've read the book you'll understand my disappointment in the blurb.  Did this person actually read the book?

Tomorrow will mark the first day in 3 years that I won't have a shoe calendar to look at, how crazy is that?  I don't always include the calendar shoes in the blog, but I do enjoy the moment each morning when I get to turn over the next page and see what craziness or awesomeness awaits.

Oh well.  I did a quick google of New Year's Eve shoes:

I agree with the calendar that New Year's shoes should be sparkly, and apparently Google agrees with us.

I think I'd like these better if they had a different heel.  This one is too chunky and overwhelming.

Ooooh...fancy!  Now these are some celebratory shoes.

I love the colors.  The feathers are hilarious to me, though.  I just can't picture myself in feathered shoes.

Regardless of whether your shoes are flats or heels, feathered or sparkly, I hope you have a very happy New Year!

3rd Blogiversary

Can you believe I've been writing this dorky little blog for 3 years now? Yep, 3 years ago today I wrote the first post and I've been going more or less ever since. In a fun coincidence, this is also my 800th post! That's a lot of blah blah on my part.

Here is how the calendar celebrated the day:

Yay blue! It's like the calendar knew.

So the problem with starting the blog the same year as the the hubby and I got married is that the anniversaries are the same. The 3rd anniversary is leather, and I did a blue leather post in August. So instead of matching the calendar with more blue I will go with the 6th day of Christmas and do red and green leather.

Shoes for the hubby, flats and heels for me, and of course some cute jackets just because.

I'd intended for this post to be longer but I'm at Starbucks using the internet and my kindle is about to die. Also for some reason is a giant pain in the patootie to post on this thing, it's taken me an hour just to do this much and I'm totally annoyed and frustrated. I'm going home to eat chocolate.

5th Day of Christmas

I've shown you all of the Christmas crochet I did this year, so I had to come up with something else to post about today.  You might remember that 2 years ago I did a 12 Days of Christmas series, so I've already done a 5 Gold Rings post, but I thought I'd use the same theme to do a slightly different post this year.  And so I give you Fiiiiiiive Goooooold Ring(holder)s...ba dum bum bum!

Very golden.  I don't know if it's the lighting or if it's actually a rose gold, but I like it.

That's a lot of gold sparkly thingies.  I have an ornament on the shoe tree that looks a lot like this.

This one is pretty.  The braid is a little tacky-looking, but overall I like the pattern and details.

Ooooh...jewels.  And if this was a real shoe it would totally kill my feet.

Rose gold sparkles?  I think this one is my favorite.

It's been a rough day.  You ever have one of those days (weeks?  months?  years?) where you feel like you're being punished for something?  It's been like that for us lately.  I don't believe that's the way things work, but some days I can definitely understand why people do.  Ugh.  Where's the fast forward button?

Rainbow Crochet

On the 4th day of Christmas here is an afghan I crocheted for Tink's and Pippi's big sister:

It was actually supposed to be a starting college present, but things got crazy and it ended up getting sent home in the Christmas box.  It occurs to me that I don't actually have a blog nickname for the big sister, and I should as it would be way easier to type than Pippi's and Tink's Big Sister.  Her family calls her Scout sometimes, so we'll go with that.

When I was looking for shoes for yesterday's post these came up as Christmas shoes, and I thought they would be appropriate for a rainbow Christmas post.  The rest of the shoes, though are rainbow crochet, in case Scout needs some coordinating accessories.

Baby rainbow slippers! Cuteness.

Obviously not shoes, but rainbow crochet. Hmmmm...maybe Pedro needs a new hat?

Not as cute as the baby slippers, but still fun.

I really like the yarn used for these.

Rainbow socks!  I might need a pair of these myself.

Oooh...I love these.  Someone needs to have a baby so I can make cute shoes for him or her.

I have a giant headache today, and I won't even describe the stuff coming out of my sinuses.  I really just want to go home and go back to bed.  Rainbow crochet helps, but if only it could eliminate the headache, then I'd be in business.  In the meantime hopefully the rainbow crochet will help keep Scout all warm and toasty in her dorm room next semester.

More Crochet

I have been informed that my Christmas headbands weren't as lame as I made them out to be. I was just feeling down about Christmas this year since we're having a bit of a rough go and I made presents out of leftover yarn.  I felt kind of cheap and chintzy and cheesy (but I can still rock the alliteration).  On this 3rd day of Christmas I won't be giving you 3 French Hens (why are there so many birds in that song?), but I will be showing you some more random crochet:

This was kind of an experiment.  I was looking at patterns and found these crocheted nesting bowls.  I love things that nest!  I gave them to SKD (and the hubby thought I was absolutely crazy).  She said she was going to force various pets and family members to wear them as hats.  This is why are friends.  I think they are weird and random and fun, and hopefully SKD likes them as much as she seemed to and wasn't just being polite.

I will also be showing you some red, green, and white shoes to go with the nesting bowl color scheme.

Stripey!  And Mom just sent me a video on how to make shoes like this with fabric and fabric glue (and an xacto knife, which probably seems like a bad idea for someone as klutzy as me).

Stripey ballet flats.  I could wear these for more festive occasions.

No green, but very festive and fun.

This is a little cheesy, but Christmas is the perfect time for cheesy shoes, don't  you think?

Awww...Christmas shoes for the PB.  I'm going to pretend I don't see that the trees are made up of mustaches.

We're at the office today so I'm taking advantage of having internet access.  We're in the process of selling the house, which is why we're at the office so much since we can't be home while the house is being shown.  I haven't been writing about it, and if you comment, I'd rather you comment here rather than Facebook since I don't think I'm ready to make it Facebook official and the blog is a little more private.  Can I just say that I'm not enjoying living in a house that has to be show-ready all the damn time?  And vacuuming every day has not made me appreciate it any more.   This will be move 27 since I started college, and since we're going to rent for awhile and then buy something else, move 28 will be happening before 2016 is over.  At least I made it a little over 3 years in this house, I hadn't been anywhere for more than 3 years since I moved out of the parents' house.

Post Christmas Crochet Post

Now that Christmas is done and the presents are opened I can show you what I crocheted this year, although it's kinda lame.

Headbands. This one is Double A's.

The Bean's.

Tink's.

Flower's.

The Seester's.

 Laughter's.

The bottom one is Pippi's. For some reason I couldn't find the picture I took of just hers. Also, this post is all kinds of messed up because I'm doing it on my phone and it's not going terribly well. In fact, I'm skipping shoes because just this much has taken me 8 million hours to write. Apparently lame presents lead to lame posts. Yikes.

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to you and yours!  I hope you are having a wonderful day with family and friends and lots of love.

This is a store window in Seattle, and I stole this picture from a friend on Facebook who took it and posted it. So festive!

This one was sent to me, I didn't steal it. It's a shoe tree wth actual shoes. I both like it and think it's over the top crazy. Plus I think it's in a bathroom.

I've been wearing Christmas socks exclusively for about 2 weeks now, so even though you've seen them before I'm showing them again.

This is the newest pair, that SKD gave me last year after after she saw them on this post.  She has the green pair, of course!  Tallulah gave me an assist on modeling of the socks.

I've been pretty secular the last couple of days, so if you're needing some baby Jesus, here is the link to last year's nativity post. I did go to church last night which was lovely. The pastor's 5 year old daughter sat with me and snuggled with me and then told me,  "I just love you. " Yeah, I needed that.

Merry Christmas! I'm going back to sleep since the hubby woke me up at 4 to open presents and again at 7 to chat.
