Woohoo!

I woke up to this news this morning:

Granted, a lot of blogs can get that in a month, a week, or even a day, but for my silly little shoe blog, I'm pretty impressed.  So thanks for hanging out with me!  I know who some of you are (hi, Mom!), but others are a mystery.  Which is good, mystery can be fun, but if you want, feel free to leave the occasional comment to let me know who you are/what you think.

 

In shoe news, I checked out shoe dazzle recently after someone at church asked me about it.  So far I'm not sure what I think, but I haven't really spent much time on it to figure things out.  This was the picture that greeted me when I logged on yesterday:

I tried to find a picture of just the shoes, but didn't have any luck.  They are really odd.  I keep expecting to see a little bird perched in there or something.  (Remember, you can always click on any picture to, ahem, "embiggen" it).  They are definitely different, that's for sure.  The necklace is also different and interesting, although I could never pull something like that off.  The headband is just plain ugly to me, though.  Also, is it me, or do those shoes like they are killer on the toes?  My toes are cramping in my tennies simply from looking at this picture.



Free the Ankles!

Let me start by saying that I hate this style.  There's just something about the ankle imprisonment that I don't like.  Ankle strap, yes.  Ankle cuff, not so much.

 

On the other hand, I like the detailing on them, and I really like the buckles.  They aren't all bad, I just don't like this style, which is everywhere right now.  Oddly enough, these are from 1985, proving once again that there really is nothing new under the sun.

Different Kinds of Weirdness

Is it weird that I like these?

I find it strange that they look like boot shoved into a pump, but I like the colors, and the shiny-ness.  And I think that the pump part of it are a really cool shape, and I would probably wear them separately.

 

These on the other hand, I don't think I would wear.

 



When I first saw them this morning I immediately thought, "Oh, 70s."  I was very wrong, as they are from 2011.  I like the fabric, but the overall shape doesn't do much for me.  I know what you're thinking.  You're thinking I'm just bitter because I can't wear slingbacks.  Maybe.  But I still think I would prefer this material on a different shaped sandal, slingback notwithstanding.

More Plaid

I've mentioned before that I have a friend who LOVES plaid, so I decided to google plaid shoes.  (have I mentioned how much fun it is to google a random kind of shoe and see what kind of crazy awesomeoness comes up?)  Here is one of the pictures I liked because it gives a fun variety.

Is it weird that I like these?  They are funky, and clunky, and I actually think they're kind of cute.  But WHY oh WHY do they have to be peep toe?  Good grief, people.

Baby plaid!  Makes me want a baby just so I can put his or her adorable feet in plaid shoes!

 

There are a TON more, of course.  I could just keep posting and posting, but I suppose I should probably do other things with my time.  You know, productive things, like work, and errands, and house work, and spending time with my husband.  But feel free to procrastinate on all of your own stuff by exploring the wonderful world of plaid shoes!

And I Thought Peep Toe Boots Were Weird

Awhile back I was ranting about peep toe boots, and then this morning when I flipped the calendar page over I was presented with this:

 

The description says they are from Canada, c. 1971.  They are a plastic clog with an interchangeable snap-on canvas upper.  First, the positive.  I can appreciate the effort to make them versatile.  You could change the upper to go with a variety of outfits.  Sadly, while they are versatile, they are also UGLY.  Again, why are they peep toe?  Thankfully there are snaps around the front, so they wouldn't have to be peep toe, but still.  Yeesh.  They remind me of bowling shoes, only uglier.  I wonder if any of the other choices were cuter?  But they would still have the plastic, chunky heel and those god-awful snaps.  I stand by my Yeesh.



More Disney (This Time Villain-Free)

A friend of mine went to Disneyland recently and bought me back a present.  It's the top half of pjs (she didn't know what size to get for the bottoms and didn't want to offend me, which was sweet).  Here is the front:

 

 



It says One Shoe Can Change Your Life and has sparklies on it.  I think the red, yellow, and blue ones look like Snow White, and the yellow ones like Belle.  The green ones next to the Snow White ones maybe are Tiana?  Not sure about the other ones.  What do you think? Do they look like certain princesses to you?  The back:

 

 

I think it's adorable for pjs, and think it was so sweet of her to bring me a gift from Disneyland.  I've never actually been to Disneyland or Disney World.  Some day hopefully I'll get to go.  In the meantime I'll just sleep in princess shoes!



Lent 3

I was still on retreat with the kiddos last Sunday so didn't have a need to wear Lenten purple shoes to worship.  Today I debuted my new purple boots:

 

 

I wanted to show the detailing, but once again the light in the room with the full length mirror is not great and they look more brown than purple, so I took a second picture to try and get the color.

 

 

Here the color is a little better, but holy buckets do I look stumpy.  Anyhoo, I ordered these because I wanted purple boots for Lent and didn't ever see any when I was out.  Frankly, I liked them better on-line.  They seemed more sparkly and less...biker?  I know they aren't biker, but the detailing didn't look like I was hoping it would.  They are also slumpier than I would like.  Lots of people at church still said they liked them, but they might have just been being polite.  These have what's described as an almond-shaped toe and I think I like my boots a little pointier.  I got some blue ones for Advent last year, and they had the same shaped toe and neither boot is terribly comfortable in the toe box.  Which then begs the question, why did I buy a second pair with the same shape?  These are the mysteries of my brain when it comes to shoes.
