Creamsicles

Apparently this weekend is made for SKD.  Yesterday I went with green shoes, and today is National Creamsicle Day, so I'm going with orange shoes.  PLUS today is Color Book Day, which I did last year, but she also loves to color, so this is really the perfect weekend for her.

I like creamsicles OK, although I haven't had one in forever.  I really like creamsicle flavored yogurt.  I really really like the color of creamsicles.  The following shoes capture it sometimes and sometimes not so much, but they are what came up when I typed in creamsicle shoes:

These are from the 40s.  You know I'm picturing a fabulous retro outfit to go with these.

Canvas shoe collection!

I love these.  Very cute.  (Hey, Mom...we need these for the 50th anniversary pictures!)

These are from the 70s. Hmmm...the outfits I'm picturing aren't quite as cute as the ones from the 40s.

Awwww...the PB could be an adorable little creamsicle baby!

Happy Creamsicle Day!  Now I might have to go out and find myself a creamsicle to celebrate.

Green

Yesterday I was feeling a lot better, sinus infection-wise and thought maybe it wasn't as bad as I'd first feared.  Sadly I woke up today feeling awful.  I'm exhausted and have massive pressure in my face and there is much green stuff coming out of my sinuses.  Rather than continuing on that disgusting tangent, I'm just going to take the green of that sentence, make it a pretty green, and go with that as my theme for tonight:

They don't make my head feel better, but they make me feel better about the color green.

Raspberries

Today was kind of a weird day.  Not bad, just weird.  The hubby's tummy was yucky all day and I have a sinus infection.  I thought I was going to be away from the office for an hour and then our meeting ran long and I was gone for 5 hours, which meant I had to stay late to catch up on at least part of my to-do list.  I also had weird dreams this morning that I only vaguely remember.  So, weird.

It's also the BFF's birthday, which isn't weird at all.  She's awesome and I miss her.  She, her hubby, and the nephew are on their way to Michigan right now to visit her in-laws.  That's a long, hot drive with a 6 1/2 year old, so wish them luck.

Today is also National Raspberry Tart Day and National Raspberry Bombe Day.  Which isn't weird, per se.  Or at least no more so than any other random holiday.  The likes raspberries and they are kind of in the purple family, so it kind of works.  Here are some raspberry shoes to celebrate this day, whatever adjective you apply to it.

To conclude:  today was weird, but I love the BFF and hope she had a lovely birthday.  I also like raspberries very much.  Raspberry shoes are kind of cool, kind of weird, so they fit with the theme.  I think it's time for bed.  Stupid sinus infection.

Pink

The hubby stayed home today with what might be pink eye.  Or maybe not.  His eyes are definitely pink and runny, so we figured it was better for him and his germs to stay home.  The puppies and I went and took care of the office and the interns.  Tonight's shoes will match the hubby's eyes:

I'm not a huge fan of pink, but it's important to accessorize appropriately.

Sometime during the afternoon I got a migraine.  At least the dry heaving waited until I got home.  Now I'm going to bed.

Stars

Good grief, how is it August 1st already?  August 1st has quite a few holidays attached to it, including a couple that I talked about last year, but did you also know that today is Woman Astronomers Day? "Maria Mitchell was the first female professional astronomer, first woman to become a professor of astronomy, and the first woman to be elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. She was born in Nantucket, Massachusetts in 1918."  So in honor of Maria Mitchell and all women astronomer's (or women who shoot for the stars in one way or another), here are some space shoes:

I love all three of these and would wear them to space-related events.  Because I go to so many of them, you know.

I love neither of these.  Actually the designs are pretty but the shapes are terrible and I'm not going to wear them to any of my fabulous space-themed events.

These are a little bit crazy.  I will wear them to my dressier space-themed events.

So....who's going to invite me to a space-themed event?

Sunglasses

Today is Sunglasses Day!  Why?  Who cares?  I read a blog that claims that everyone looks hotter in sunglasses.  I'd that's mostly true.  Unless the sunglasses are awful and then the person looks kind of dorky, but generally speaking I would agree.  I wasn't sure what I would find in terms of sunglasses + shoes, but I did manage to find a few things:

I actually think these are both kind of cute.  They look like they're made out of material that doesn't breathe, but overall they're cute.  They're also Karl Lagerfeld and were applauded as being shoes "under $200."  Yeah, unless they're WAAAAY under that dollar figure these are definitely not that cute.  And/or I'm cheap.

Awww...baby sunglasses shoes.  OK, probably just glasses, but work with me, OK?  They're sparkly and cute and made me then search for Babies in Sunglasses, which you should definitely go peruse, because adorable.  I give you example A in the form of toddler Flower:

AND she was wearing adorable shoes. If I remember correctly she was about to go fishing with her dad when this picture was taken.  Most fashionable fisher-girl I've ever seen!

So, I implemented my new plan for getting my patootie (or patoosh as Laughter sometimes refers to it) out of my office chair today.  According to my phone (and I have no idea how accurate it is...one of these days I'd like to get a fitbit) I walked 7,655 steps, for a total of 3.69 miles, over the course of 72 minutes, and burned 264 calories.  Not the greatest results in the world, but still a million times better than what I've been doing most days of late.  Now I just have to keep it up.  I also drank over a gallon of water today, which is good as it was 8 million degrees.  I'm pretty much over summer already and it's not even July yet.  Sigh.

Picnics

Saturday was something to do with picnics, and I went off in search of shoes for a post.  But then the hubby and I had our X-Men date night and I did that post instead.  Yesterday was Father's Day, so I had the obvious post topic there, which means I'm getting to picnics a couple of days later than whatever holiday it was over the weekend.  But picnics can be any day, really, so better late than never.  Not that I went on an actual picnic today, but at least there are shoes.

This is kind of weird, and and yet I like it. Why do picnics mean plaid, though?

See?  More plaid?  I think I'd prefer a different, non-polka dotted bow, but the wedge is a good, practical choice if you need/want to go tromping over possibly uneven ground in heels.

Not practical in the least, but soooooo cute.

So, checked picnic blanket or table cloth and ants, but what are the yellow laces?  Sometimes when I glance at the picture they look like french fries.  French fries aren't my first choice for picnic food, but sure, why not?

I'm 2 days late and a whole picnic short, but at least there were some interesting shoes.

Red Spots

You want to know something amazing?  The hubby and I have been home before dark 2 nights in a row!  Which is nice as I've been fighting sinus crud for awhile.  It was so bad the other night that I was awake at 3am and the pain gave me the dry heaves.  And as my mom (hi, mom!) will tell you, every time I throw up I break blood vessels in my face.  Which means I've been sporting lovely red spots for the last couple of days.  They always break under my eyes (and sometimes IN my eyes), but this time I have red spots all along my jaw line, too.  Thank goodness for makeup.  All of this leads me to tonight's post:  Red polka dots!

It turns out that finding shoes with red polka dots is harder than you might think.  Most of what comes up is red shoes with white polka dots.  Which are adorable, but not what I was looking for tonight.  But I found a few examples.  I love the baby shoes, of course, and this last one with its sassy bow.  The rest of them are OK.

And now to bed.

Momager

I've mentioned before that I often feel more like the Office Mom more than the Office Manager.  Today 2 of my interns decided that makes me the Office Momager.  I'm not sure how I feel about that.  Usually I like word mashups, but Momager has negative connotations in pop culture.  They meant it in a nice way at least (I think).  At any rate, I typed in "mom shoes," which is kind of subjective, but here are some of the results:

A floofy skirt and tiny toes peeking through the peep toes in Mom's shoes? Adorable.

I don't know what makes these mom shoes per se, but I like the stripes.

Also adorable!

Awww...I love these.  And they're blue!

Mom and baby shoes that don't match in any way, but I like them both.

I guess I'll live with being the Office Momager.  There are worse titles, I'm sure.  I'm at least feeling a little better today after napping last night, going back to sleep, and sleeping in until 6:30 this morning.  We'll see what time we actually make it home tonight, but at least I got some rest.
