Wings

Today I am thankful for airplanes that take me to see my family!  Hooray family! I'm super excited and can't wait to get there, although it will almost be tomorrow by the time I finally land.  I am also thankful for all of the employees who make my flights possible.  They often get a bad rap from people who are angry when things are delayed or out of their control, but for the most part most people I encounter while traveling are just trying to do their job and I appreciate them for that.  So, today's shoes are inspired by flight.

I started out looking for shoes with wings.  Holy mother of cheesecake (Thank you, author Debbie Macomber, for THAT phrase that I just read in your latest book), these are crazy.  I love the colors, but dang.  And there are numerous pairs of these, in all different colors.  Why, exactly?

Somehow they're a cuter when they're smaller and light up.  These would be fun for a small child to go tromping through the airport in.

These said wings, but they could just as easily be leaves?  I decided to move away from wings and on to...

Airplane shoes.  Which I've done before, but come on, they're totally theme appropriate.  And adorable.

I wouldn't buy these just for everyday, but I would totally wear them on a plane.  Because I'm weird like that.

Or these.  I know, I need themed shoe therapy.  Whatever, I'm going home, so I don't care if you think I'm weird.

Flannel

Today I am thankful for my mama.  Actually, I am thankful for her every day because she is amazing and loving and supportive and I don't know where I'd be without her and my dad and their awesome awesomeness.  Today I am thankful because this morning she sent a text asking, "flannel sheets or regular?"  I'm going home soon and she was asking what kind of sheets I want to sleep on while I'm there.  See?  Awesome.  I said flannel because I love them and it's actually cold enough in MT to be able to sleep in them, unlike here where I'm lucky if I keep the sheet on the whole night.  In honor of my mom and her mad hostessing sheet options, today's shoes are flannel.  Oh, actually they're plaid flannel because my further options were blue plaid or gray plaid with moose.  I chose gray with moose.  Please continue reading after you've picked yourself up off the floor because I didn't choose blue.

This is practical and probably comfy.  I like them.

This is hilarious.  I LOVE the colors, but don't think I'd actually wear this particular pair of shoes.

I do love me a plaid pump.  Actually, I like a flannel pump, too.  I have a pair in gray flannel.  No moose, though. Or plaid.  So, really nothing like my soon-to-be-slept-on sheets.

Adorable.  I kind of want to pair it with a giant, red plaid hunting coat and one of those flapped hats...

Hmmmm...Smaller heel, so more practical for many situations, but I'm not so sure about the colors.

Practical, professional, pretty!

I can't wait to dive into those sheets.  It's been a rough go, and flannel sheets might just be the therapy I need.  Plus mom hugs.  And niece snuggles.  And sister time.

Blues

Today I am thankful for mental health care and the anti-depressants that go with it.  Life has been up and down and today was a rough down day.  It's stressful, and I really don't want to think about how much worse the stress could be without those anti-depressants.  I'm grateful I have access to healthcare.  Of course, anti-depressants don't really make for good shoes (at least I'm guessing, I didn't actually look, it seemed too weird), so instead tonight's shoes are blue, which works for those feelings of depression, and it's the color of my anti-depressants.

I'll leave the comments to you as I'm too tired.  And a little grumpy, despite being soothed by the lovely blue shoes.  Good night, all.

Happy Birthday, Hubby!

Today is the hubby's birthday, and he is what I am grateful for today.  We've been together for a little over 6 years now, and we've certainly had our ups and downs.  Some days he drives me a little bit bonkers and I want to kick him, and I know some days I drive him bonkers back.  When push comes to shove, though, we've go each other's backs and for that I am very grateful.  Plus, he makes me laugh with his goofy sense of humor.  So tonight's shoes are inspired by the hubby.  I've already done a post with our last name, so today I'm using his first name.  Which is just weird because he doesn't go by it, and refuses to answer to it, but I figure the shoes don't mind one way or the other.

These look like something the hubby would wear.  He likes suits, and he has a couple of pairs of wingtips to go with them.

Black shoes are definitely his preference.  Kind of like JG...no wonder they like each other!

Oh wow.  I can't see him wearing these, and I can't say I would blame him.

He wouldn't wear these, either, but I might.

Boy shoes are all well and good, but not very exciting, so here's some hounds tooth for me.

Oooh...and I love this one!

Happy Birthday, hubby.  Love you to the moon and back!

Twinsies

Today I am thankful for good friends and baby spoiling.  I hung out with SKD today, and this morning got to spend time with her while she was babysitting her great niece and nephew who are 2 year old twins and absolutely adorable.  The girl was cracking me up because she kept saying "no no, boy" and "uh oh, boy" to her brother whenever he did something she thought he shouldn't.  This was always accompanied by a disapproving look and a wagging finger. Both kiddos are really sweet and I had a blast with them.  And then I had a fabulous afternoon with their auntie.  Tonight's shoes are inspired by twins:

I love both of these, but can we please get away from the strict gender binaries of pink and blue?

Still pink, but look! Green!

I know they aren't shoes, and we're back to pink and blue, but these are adorable.

Yay, throwing a little purple in the mix, which is the girl twins favorite color.  She says puhple.

I am grateful for a good day.

Thanks

Today I am thankful for our veterans.  Military service is not something I have felt called to or think I could do, but I'm grateful for those who are called to and are willing to serve in such a way.  I posted these 3 pictures on Facebook today in honor of Veteran's Day:

These are pictures of Mom's dad, my dad, and DJ. Apparently we're a naval family because my uncle was also in the navy, I just don't have a picture of him.  In honor of my these extra special veterans here are some nautically-inspired shoes:

You know I'm going to love these because they're blue.  I also like that they're themed but not over the top with their theme.

Ditto to these.  I think they're adorable.

This is creeping toward that over the top edge of theme-y-ness.

Love.

Navy shoes for the whole family!

Thank you to those who serve.  I am a proud auntie when it comes to DJ, and I pray for her continued safety as she moves forward in this journey.

Puppy Pups

Today I am thankful for my snuggle puppies.  I love coming home after work to their happy, wiggly, jumpy selves and then having them join me on the couch for some post-work decompression snuggles.  I mean, look a these adorable faces:

I just want to smooch them.  Oh wait, I do that on a regular basis.  So let's look at puppy shoes:

And now let's go to sleep.  Or not, I mean, do you what you need to do, but I'm exhausted, so I'm off to bed.
