Wings

Today I am thankful for airplanes that take me to see my family!  Hooray family! I'm super excited and can't wait to get there, although it will almost be tomorrow by the time I finally land.  I am also thankful for all of the employees who make my flights possible.  They often get a bad rap from people who are angry when things are delayed or out of their control, but for the most part most people I encounter while traveling are just trying to do their job and I appreciate them for that.  So, today's shoes are inspired by flight.

I started out looking for shoes with wings.  Holy mother of cheesecake (Thank you, author Debbie Macomber, for THAT phrase that I just read in your latest book), these are crazy.  I love the colors, but dang.  And there are numerous pairs of these, in all different colors.  Why, exactly?

Somehow they're a cuter when they're smaller and light up.  These would be fun for a small child to go tromping through the airport in.

These said wings, but they could just as easily be leaves?  I decided to move away from wings and on to...

Airplane shoes.  Which I've done before, but come on, they're totally theme appropriate.  And adorable.

I wouldn't buy these just for everyday, but I would totally wear them on a plane.  Because I'm weird like that.

Or these.  I know, I need themed shoe therapy.  Whatever, I'm going home, so I don't care if you think I'm weird.

Paper Airplanes

Today is National Paper Airplane Day.  Which seems as good a thing to post about as anything.  I'm so tired this week, and I'm rather tired of being so tired.  Oh well.  At least there are paper airplane shoes in the world.

I had no idea I would find this many pairs.  I'm pleasantly surprised as they're all sweet.  Now I wish I'd known about today sooner so I could have made paper airplanes and thrown them at the interns.  Speaking of interns, have I mentioned that I'm currently the only woman in our office?  We have 16 employees, counting me and the hubby, and I'm the only woman. We have one other female employee but she works remotely, so I'm surrounded by men.  Don't get me wrong, I like men, but dang, we need a little estrogen up in that place.

Airport

I'm currently sitting in the Minneapolis-St. Paul airport waiting for my flight to Montana. Montana!!!!! I haven't been home in over a year, and I'm sooooo excited. I'm also rolling my eyes that I had to fly to Minnesota so I can now backtrack to Montana, but the ticket was a really good price, so I'm not going to complain too much. My layover is about 3 hours, so I'm charging my phone, writing a quick post (on my phone, which is always kind of annoying), and people watching. The most adorable, shiny, gray boots just walked by. It's still a mystery why women run through airports in heels, but oh well. In honor of my current location I thought I'd so some more airplane shoes:

I did these last time too, but plane slippers are to cute not to share again.

Is gloomy and raining here, so these are totally appropriate.

Adorable.

Blue! Whimsical! I kind of want a pair to wear when I fly.

I'm off to wander while I wait.

Good Day

Who knew February 6th was such an awesome day?  First of all, it's The Nephew's birthday!  I can't believe he's 4 already.  4 years ago today I was there when he took his first breath.  It was such an honor to be present for such an amazing experience.  And, it doesn't hurt that I can eventually embarrass him with birth stories as well as diaper changing stories!  You might remember that The Nephew loves the movies Cars and Planes.

He probably needs all of these. I'm the mean auntie who bought him books for his birthday.  But  Cars and Planes books, so that should count for something, right?

It's ALSO the BSF's birthday!  The calendar presented her with this for the day:

We both thought this particular was kind of meh.  I like the blue, like the straps, but could do without the snakeskin.  I'm just not a fan of snakeskin.  And it doesn't really say Happy Birthday as well as say, wine and chocolate.  Or a gift card for shoes.

As if these 2 fabulous birthdays weren't enough, today was also the day my Seattle Friend came to visit!  She is another roommate from seminary, another pastor from my wedding (she preached a wonderful sermon and did an adorable children's sermon), and another super-amazing-fantabulous friend  Here's are the feet on the far right of the header picture above..  She's not into heels, but she has fabulous shoes.  She also happens to have the same size foot as I do, so there have been many times I've been totally tempted to steal her shoes.  Today's were no exception:

I wish I'd gotten a better picture of the detail.  They are blue with a darker blue pattern.  Since blue is my favorite color, you can imagine how much I liked them.  She says the are fake Danskos.  As long as they're comfortable, I don't care if they're real or fake.  Anyway, we had lunch and frozen yogurt and then got to hang out and chat for a few hours.  Bliss.

Hope your day was a fraction as great as mine was!
