Hot Pink

The Pinterest friend has struck again, sending me these crazy shoes:

I don't even know what to say about these.  The heels look like they've been covered in cupcake sprinkles, and the shoes...The shoes are like insane, feathery hooves.  Maybe these would look semi-appropriate on a Las Vegas show girl?

I'm not much of a pink fan.  I like it in small doses, but don't buy much.  But, since October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, pink is totally appropriate.  So here are a few more pink selections:

These remind me of ruffle-butted bloomers.  Except without the cute, diapered baby butt.

Way too girly for me.

More ruffles.  But, I do like a good ankle strap!

Ooooh, sparkly.

I'm not sure if any of the nieces are still in a pink phase, but if they are, I'm sure they would love some of these.

Whether you like pink or loathe it, though, it does remind us to take care of the girls.  Don't put off getting them checked; early prevention is key!  In other words,

Lost

So today I lost my voice between services and then I got lost coming home from a meeting because my GPS wouldn't get a signal and I couldn't quite figure out where I was in the dark.  Apparently it was a lost kind of day.  Apparently I need some of the following:

On days when my GPS doesn't work I could just consult the maps on my shoes (assuming, of course, I got shoes with maps of the area I was actually in).

All in the Fam

So, my family is awesome.  I know I'm completely biased, but if you met them, you would be forced to agree that they are awesome.  The Bean told mom the other day that she wants to "be a shoe girl like Auntie."  This was after trying on 5 and 6 inch heels and strutting around Target in them.  I'm both proud and a little frightened.  She ended up buying some fur lined "practical" boots, while Double A ended up with these:

Mom said these have a cute wedge heel that's about an inch and a half.  Double A might not have my love of heels, but these shoes are for her upcoming play this weekend, and as I was also in drama in Jr. High and High School, of course I've decided she takes after me.  And she still has cute taste in shoes.

The brother posted this on my facebook page today:

If I haven't posted these before, I've posted something similar, and I'll say the same thing:  These are clearly for winter, where it is cold.  What in the heck are you doing wearing that much heel in the snow??!!  Hey, brother, I think you should buy these and rock them with your kilt...

The boots are a little crazy, but my 2nd cousin sent me shoes that blew right past crazy:

Why why why are these in existence?  Who would ever wear them?  I should have written this post earlier, because now I'm pretty sure these are going to give me nightmares...

Candy Corn

I love candy corn.  It is disgusting, sugary goodness, and I love when Fall gets here and the candy corn comes back.  It's a snack and also a costume, because there is nothing better than candy corn fangs:

The brother and I have a contest every year to see who can send a candy corn fang picture to the other first.  I won last year, but he totally beat me this year.  Curses!  There are now other candies that come in candy corn flavor.  At this week's conference the BSF brought these for us to try:

We'd both seen them but hadn't been brave enough to try them, so we tried them together.  They have white chocolate inside, but other than the colors, I'm not sure what makes them candy corn, as they certainly didn't taste like it.  They were fine, but we both agreed that once was enough.  But wait, there's more!

I *think* I've tried these, but I'm not 100% sure.  Clearly they made a big impression...

Haven't tried these yet.  I saw them somewhere recently, but now can't remember where, and I haven't seen them again since.

But enough of candy corn as food, let's move on to candy corn shoes!

(yes, you have seen these before, and yes, I have referenced candy corn fangs before)

I clearly need a pair.  Probably the heels.  Who wants to work on that for me?

Total Slacker

So, I pretty much failed in the picture taking department this week.  I didn't a single shoe picture at the conference, even though there were some cute ones.  I didn't take pictures of the BSF's shoes.  I didn't take a picture of my feet on the beach or in the ocean.  I didn't even take a picture of the pool.  Which, by the way, was coffin shaped.  WHY was the pool coffin shaped?  When I pointed this out to the senior pastor, he informed me that I think too much.  Rude.  Anyway, speaking of coffin-shaped things I don't understand, we can add this to the list:

I quite like shoes.  I write a dorky blog about shoes.  But I have absolutely no desire to be buried in a shoe-shaped coffin. What the heck, people???

Ocean Waves

One of the best parts about this conference has been being right on the beach.  So, mostly I'm a mountain girl, but I do love the ocean.  As long as I don't have to deal with the sand.  Which makes it a bit more complicated.  I've realized in recent years that the sand pretty much drives me crazy.  If I'm just sitting on it, it's all good, but as soon as I move or walk or do anything, then it's everywhere.  If I could just avoid the sand, I would be fine.  But here, our room is right on the ocean, so I can look at it and listen to it all I want without having to deal with the sand.  I love listening to the waves crash, having them lull me to sleep and waking up to them in the morning.  In honor of that, here are some ocean inspired shoes...

I pretty  much wouldn't wear any of the above 3 pairs of shoes, but I like the bright colors, especially all of the shades of blue.

I don't know what is going on here, but I feel like someone isn't using the sense their mama gave them.  Did no one ever tell this person not to put their foot in weird shit on the beach?  Or anywhere else, for that matter?  Unless this person is being attacked, in which case I apologize, and turn my snarky attention to the person who isn't helping, just photographing. Somehow, though, I'm thinking it's more of the former and less the latter.

Conference

I am spending most of the week in Monterey at a synod conference.  Our hotel is right on the beach, and our room is on the ocean side, so the view is amazing.  Between the conference, spotty internet connection, and being sick (again), I haven't had much energy to post.  There have been some cute shoes here, but I haven't taken any pictures.  There have also been some seriously ugly shoes, but I haven't taken any pictures of those, either.  Instead, I will give you pictures of the ocean.  Hope you enjoy them.   I am going to bed.  I had 2 naps today, but I'm already exhausted.  Stupid post-camp cold.  On a happier note, I am rooming with the BSF, so between that and being on the beach, life can't be too bad, can it?

PS--just to give you an idea of the weird internet situation, it took me over a half an hour just to do this teeny post, and earlier I got an e-mail that said it was sent on December 31, 1969.  Woohoo!  Time traveling e-mails!
