Pig Roast

Today was devoted to decorating and running errands.  The hubby started on the outside Christmas lights while I started on the inside.  We didn't actually get very far as of course there's always something that needs to be picked up.  We just got back from running errands and are about to get ready to go to a pig roast.  Yep, that's what I said.  There is a family in my congregation who does one every year the Saturday after Thanksgiving, but this is the first year I have been able to go. In honor of the occasion...

Is it just me, or are these kind of creepy?  It's like they know where I'm going tonight and they are glaring accusingly.

Heehee...much cuter!

Also cute!  Not sure what their expressions are, exactly, but they crack me up.

Pigs in shoes!  Oh dear...I make my own fun, don't I?  These are just too fun.

Wish me luck tonight.  I prefer my meat the way God intended:  wrapped in cellophane in the grocery store.

Black Friday

It's the day after Thanksgiving; Black Friday.  I've never been a Black Friday shopper.  I'd rather stay home in comfy clothes, relax, and eat pie for breakfast.  We did run a couple of errands, but nothing specifically Black Friday related.  Tonight we are kicking back with some Christmas movies.  Since its Black Friday, I'm giving you black shoes.  I've done black before, but you can never have too many pairs of black shoes, right?  I give them to you without comment as I'm too relaxed and sleepy to do much more:

Hope you are having  good weekend.  I keep thinking it's Saturday and I have to work tomorrow and then I remember it's only Friday!  Woohoo!  I can't remember the last time I had a 3 day weekend.

Thanksgivukkannivesary

Happy Thanksgiving!  I hope you are enjoying a lovely day of feasting, family, and friends.  But hopefully not feasting ON family and friends.  Because that's just awkward.  The hubby and I will be spending the day with some friends, and while I miss my family terribly, it's nice to have somewhere to go and be in fellowship.  I'm wearing my turkey socks in honor of the occasion.  If you don't have any Thanksgiving-themed accessories, here are some shoes to enjoy:

These are all quite...festive.  I like the middle two the best, I think.  Baby shoes are almost always adorable, and I like the ribbon laces in the third pair.

Today is also the first time in something like 700 years that Hanukkah falls on Thanksgiving (it actually started last night, so this is the 2nd day).  I keep seeing it referred to as Thanksgivukkah, and hearing reference to sweet potato latkes.  Sounds yummy to me.  In honor of my Jewish friends (I don't think I have any Jewish readers, but if I do, Hi!), here are some Hanukkah shoes:

I love that there are baby shoes for nearly every occasion!

Oh dear.  This is rather tacky, isn't it?  Is this the Jewish equivalent of dog nativities?

Hmmmm....seems to be  theme.  Help me out, nonexistent Jewish readers, and let me know if I am missing something?

AND, today also happens to be our Parish Administrator's anniversary!  Since I was a very bad blogger/pastor and didn't do a birthday post for her, here are some plaid shoes in her honor:

Love these.  Want them for Christmas Eve service.

Awwww....see?  Baby shoes for every occasion!

See, PA?  I even gave ya some flats!

And finally, because holidays aren't complete for me without a little Snoopy:

Happy Thanksgiving/Hanukkah/Anniversary/whatever, everyone!

Happy Birthday, Auntie!

Yesterday was the parents' anniversary, and today is my auntie's birthday.  My parents got married the day before my mom's sister's 12th birthday.  Hopefully the auntie was a better behaved preteen than I was, because I might have been thoroughly PO'd.  Although, she was probably way cooler than that, as she is one of the coolest people I know.  Growing up I usually only saw her  once a year, at Christmas, so I'm sure I had this totally false impression of what her life was like.  I think for awhile I thought she lived on the airplane when she wasn't at my grandma's.  This is also the aunt I lived with in TX for 3 years, so I also got to know her an adult, which was a lot of fun.  She was still pretty cool, but it turns out she did NOT live on an airplane.  So, some shoes in honor of her birth:

This was the shoe from the calendar today, and it just happens to be from the 50's.  Good job, shoe calendar!

These are the shoes she was wearing today, she said they were new.  See how cool she still is?  How awesome are these?

And now some pictures that the internet tells me are of stuff from 1954:

Seems fitting to include a baby outfit since we are celebrating the year of her birth.  This whole thing is adorable, but baby shoes have definitely gotten cuter since then.

French Elle from 1954.  Awww...cute puppy.   Oooooh...hot shoes.

These said they were from British Vogue, November 1954, which is absolutely perfect.  I don't think I would necessarily buy these now, but as vintage they are beautiful.

I don't particularly care for the shoe shape, but I like the picture.

Happy Birthday, Auntie!

Happy Anniversary!

On Friday I did a post on blue and sparkly shoes.  My mama's comment on that particular post was that the shoes were nice but they'd be better if they were green.  Oh, silly mom...I was already way ahead of you.  Since mom, the seester, Double A, and SKD all like green, I had already thought it would be fun, and had already gone in search for green, sparkly shoes. Then one thing led to another and I ended up doing other posts.  But apparently the universe was trying to tell me something, because now I can post the green and sparkly on the day of my parents' 47th wedding anniversary.  (I'm not actually sure if my dad has a favorite color, but since he doesn't read this blog, I don't think he'll care).

Yay sparkly flats!

Basic and fun.

I like the bow on these.

Holy boots, batman!  Those are crazy.  Who wears these?  Dominatrix Leprechauns?

Even the calendar got into the spirit today:

They aren't sparkly, but they are green (albeit  weird green).  These are just odd.  I think they are supposed to be reminiscent of a tree, but I keep seeing weird, sickly green, snowflakes.  I'm saying no to weird, sickly green, snowflake booties.

But I say yes to my parents for getting married!  Happy Anniversary, Mom and Dad!  I'd say shoot for another 47, but damn you'd be old! :-P

Another Person With Shoes

I had planned a different post for today, but then the calendar presented me with this:

The shoe itself is fine; interesting shape.  I might not even have paid much attention to it if I hadn't read the description and discovered that they have the same name as Tink's and Pippi's mama.  It's not that common of a name (at least to me), so it jumped out at me.  Of course then I had to go searching for more:

Same shoe, just in blue.  (aren't you super glad I'm here to point these things out to you?  Hooray for She Who Blogs the Obvious!)

They aren't nearly so pointy looing from this angle.  I might like them better now.  I'd have to see them on, though, before making any kind of decision.

Again, same shoe, just in purple.  You're welcome.

This one was listed with the same name, but now we get a little variety.  This one is more like a booty.  I kind of like it, and I kind of don't.  I have mixed emotions about the half-booty/half-pump look.

Yay for fun shoes named after someone I like!  But sigh...when do I get fun shoes named after me??

Catching Fire

The hubby and I saw the new Hunger Games movie tonight.  It's the 2nd of the trilogy, and I liked it even better than the first.  I've read the books a couple of times.  The first time I struggled with a good part of the first book and then suddenly got sucked in and devoured the rest very quickly.  I always have trouble with movies that were books first because there is so much that needs to be different to translate to the big screen.  And there's always those things they add or leave out that make absolutely no sense to me whatsoever.  But, like I said, we both really liked this one, and I wasn't too obsessed with comparing to the book, so they must have done something well.  Now, on to the shoes!

These are the covers for the first 2 books.  I really don't know why it continues to surprise me that someone will make a shoe with dang near any theme you could ever imagine.  Who wears these?

Although, I do have to say that it does continue to provide me with topics to post about, so I suppose I shouldn't complain.  But, even with the sparkles, I just can't get on board with these.

Definite 2nd book/movie reference.  If you don't already know what it means, then go read the book.  Or watch the movie, but come on...you know the book  is better.

These are insane.  Again, who wears these?

I have no new comments.  See above, and repeat.

Day of the Doctor

The hubby loves Doctor Who, and today is the 50th anniversary of the TV Show.  It has been on for 50 years, and there have been 11 doctors.  I'm not going to try to explain it to you, because there is time travel, regeneration, and lots of science fiction.  If you really want to try to figure it out, go here (and hopefully your brain doesn't explode from too much information).  I've seen bits and pieces, and it looks like a really good show, but today was the first full episode I've ever seen.  I'm guessing you either LOVE the show or have never seen it.  There doesn't seem to be much in-between.  At any rate, 50 years is pretty impressive, so here is a post in honor of the hubby:

These seem to be in reference to David Tennant as the Doctor, and I think I saw pairs that referenced the wardrobe choices of each Doctor.  Oh, if you want to explore the insane number of shoes, go here.

Weeping angels.  Creeeeeeepy.  They're statues.  They're aliens.  They'll kill you.

Another wardrobe reference.  I don't know which one.  The hubby would know, but he's not here at the moment.  I liked that there were heels as well as tennies.

On the left is the Tardis, the Doctor's means of travel.  On the right is a Dalek.  They are the enemy, and this is the only instance I can think of where what is basically a salt shaker is somehow scary and threatening.

This is Tom Baker, and he is the hubby's favorite Doctor.  He thinks I should make a scarf like this for Pedro.  Which would actually be pretty hilarious.

So, Happy Day of the Doctor to all you fans out there!  Please don't point out all of the flaws and gaps in my knowledge...

Blue and Sparkly

Another good day, another day of not knowing what the heck to post about.  So I did an image search for 2 of my favorite things when it comes to shoes:  blue and sparkly.  Because how can you go wrong?  You really should click on the link and go bask in the awesomeness.  Did you go?  Are you back now?  Because I'm only going to show you a few.  OK, if all you want are a few, it's up to you...

I'm like a little kid watching toy commercials on the Disney Channel.  I want them all!  These are gorgeous.

I want these, too!  So whimsical.

Yep.  I'll take 'em.  You know, for those days when you need some pizazz but also need flats.

Oh dear.  Shoegasm.  These are my favorite.  Do you see these?  They are like the ocean.  Or a Monet painting.  There might be a little drool on my keyboard as I type.

Blue.  Sparkly.  Strappy.  No need to say more.

The obligatory baby shoes.  These match the ones that are my favorite! My imaginary baby could have her own imaginary shoe closet!

OK, it's Friday night and I'm blogging and drooling.  Definitely time to end this post and move on.
