12th Day of Christmas

On the 12th Day of Christmas I am giving to you 12 random shoes that have no theme and nothing in common except that I liked them and I used the colors of the rainbow as a starting point.

And that's about it from me today.  I don't have much to say, whether good or bad, witty or otherwise.  Merry Christmas for the last time this season!

5th Day of Christmas

I've shown you all of the Christmas crochet I did this year, so I had to come up with something else to post about today.  You might remember that 2 years ago I did a 12 Days of Christmas series, so I've already done a 5 Gold Rings post, but I thought I'd use the same theme to do a slightly different post this year.  And so I give you Fiiiiiiive Goooooold Ring(holder)s...ba dum bum bum!

Very golden.  I don't know if it's the lighting or if it's actually a rose gold, but I like it.

That's a lot of gold sparkly thingies.  I have an ornament on the shoe tree that looks a lot like this.

This one is pretty.  The braid is a little tacky-looking, but overall I like the pattern and details.

Ooooh...jewels.  And if this was a real shoe it would totally kill my feet.

Rose gold sparkles?  I think this one is my favorite.

It's been a rough day.  You ever have one of those days (weeks?  months?  years?) where you feel like you're being punished for something?  It's been like that for us lately.  I don't believe that's the way things work, but some days I can definitely understand why people do.  Ugh.  Where's the fast forward button?

12th Day of Christmas

I'm sad that the Christmas season is ending, but not so sad about moving on from the 12 days of Christmas theme, simply because I am running out of ideas.  Today is 12 drummers drumming.

I like the tree with all of the days.  It's like a recap.

I couldn't find anything drum/shoe related until I thought "drum major" and then had to look for majorette boots.  These are hilarious to me for some reason.  I think it's the colors and the fringe.  The hubby would be shocked to hear me say it, but this is one occasion white I prefer white to color.

More like this, although this is a totally different style .  And here's where I tell you that I actually own majorette boots!  They were a parting gift from one of the women in my last congregation.

Yes, this is me without a head.  This is my Halloween costume from 2010, and those are my awesome boots.  These are packed away now, but I'm thinking they need to come out for an appearance soon.

Finally, I was packing for vacation tonight and found these in my sock drawer.  I for some reason thought these had gotten holey and been disposed of.  Yay for one more pair of Christmas socks for the last day of Christmas!  The snowmen are wearing red and green, so I'm going with Christmas on these.

Tomorrow I fly to MONTANA!!!  Nieces here I come!

11th Day of Christmas

Ooooh, this might be my favorite day of Christmas because it's Pipers Piping!

I do love me some bagpipers.  If the hubby could play the bagpipes he'd be even more awesome!  This seems like the perfect day to look at tartan shoes.

Or tartan socks, first.  These are highland dancing shoes with tartan socks.  I need some McKenzie plaid socks...

This is a really odd-shaped shoe.  I don't particularly like it, but thought I'd include it since it seems so odd.  Or maybe it only seems odd because it's also plaid?

Love these.  Want them in McKenzie plaid (and yes, I looked for shoes in my tartan, but didn't find any).  I'm kind of wishing I had found some McKenzie tartan shoes to wear at my wedding.
I'm not 100% sure I like these.  I like them in theory, but less in execution.  I'd still wear them in my own tartan, though.  Can someone please find me some McKenzie plaid shoes?

Sooo....I found these when I sorted laundry today.  It's a sign of how tired I've been that I completely forgot I had these, even though I've worn them recently.  So, yay!  This means I have 10 pairs of Christmas socks now!

10th Day of Christmas

Have I mentioned that I have a sinus infection?  Are you in any way surprised?  Both the hubby and I started getting sick on the 1st (Happy New Year to us!).  Thankfully mine isn't horrible, but I'm flying to MT on Monday (YES!!!) and wasn't going to deal with a worsening sinus infection, so I'm back on antibiotics.  I'm not surprised to be sick,  One of the 12 days of Christmas inevitably gives me an illness of some sort.  Did you see what I did there with the segue?

10 Lords a-Leaping!  And boy, are they.

These are the same shoes that the 8 maids a-milking were wearing the other day, so there must be a whole series.  Is everything wearing these boots?  Even the geese and the swans?  I will have to look...  And man, those lords have some skinny ankles.

The caption said this was the shoe left behind after one of the lords leapt by.  Um, yeah.  That's quite the stretch.  Oh well.  It's a shoe and it sort of ties in with the day.

I'm posting this one just for SKD and her love of green.  Also, because when I looked back at January 3rd from last year I noticed that the socks in that picture were a Christmas gift from her!  So, don't get your panties all in a twist, other loved ones who also love green, I'm not leaving you out.  Also, these shoes are way prettier than last year's, which were quite colorful, but kind of scary.

Speaking of socks...I found these yesterday at WalMart while I was running and errand. Yay for another pair of Christmas socks!  AND they were only 73 cents!  AND they are stripey!

Speaking of Christmas and gifts, I forgot to post this earlier, but this was a gift from one of my parishioners and her sweet daughter.  In case you are having trouble reading it, it says, "it's a jungle out there.  Be prepared."  Heehee. Love it!

And finally, speaking of gifts and such, have you noticed the quality of my pictures has improved?  Not the artistic-ness of the pictures, because it's still me taking them, but the quality of the pictures themselves?  The hubby got me a new camera for Christmas!  It's going to take me forever to figure out all of the options, but it's fun so far.

9th Day of Christmas

Today we go from women who are milking to women who are dancing:

Oooh...pretty!  Look how graceful they are as they dance the tree into being!  This is what I look like in my deepest, darkest imagination.

I have no idea what this card says on the inside, but this is more like what I look like in real life:  slightly disheveled, somewhat mismatched, and hoping the shoes in my had will somehow make me less of those things.

So, sadly I am now out of Christmas socks, as I mentioned yesterday.

I love me some stripey socks, so that takes the sting out a little but I'm sad I didn't have enough Christmas socks.  I even looked last night when I was at the store to see if they had any in the leftover Christmas stuff, but no such luck.

The calendar redeemed itself today, though:

I'm not even a huge pink fan, and I still think these are adorable.  Apparently we're starting out the year opposite of last year, which started out cute and then moved to the hideous booties, although admittedly this year's weren't as hideous as last year's.

In other cheerful shoe news, one of my fabulous bible study ladies dropped by church today to add to my shoe tree!

She is so super cool that she even got me the exact blue shoes I was coveting in a post a couple of weeks ago.  Woohoo!

She also got me awesome black, sparkly shoes.  My bible study ladies are the bestest.

New Year's Day

It's a new year, which means...

A new calendar!  Squee!

I took off the cardboard wrapping, and here we go

Here all 3 pieces before I go to the very first day.

Which was this.  Blah...way to start the new year with a snooze, shoe calendar.  At least last year's first day had some color and pizazz.  So much build up.  So little payoff.  Oh well.

On the 8th Day of Christmas, I ran out of Christmas socks!  Boo.  These are my last pair:

I wore these on Christmas Eve, so while you've seen them, I haven't worn them yet during the 12 days of Christmas.  Clearly I need to get more Christmas socks, since I only have 8 pairs.  Technically, I only have 5 pairs, as 3 of them are winter and not specifically Christmas.  What will I do for the next 4 days in the sock department?  However will I survive?!

Ahem...moving on.

8 maids a-milking!  Look at how cute they are.

I have no idea what's going on here.  But it's an  8th day of Christmas ornament, so I guess the maids are standng on the cow?  Why are they standing on the cow?  That's no way to milk!  BUT, the cow is wearing shoes, so that made me giggle.

Here the maids have no heads, but they are wearing boots.  Boots that seem a bit impractical for tromping around in cow poo, but oh well.

I'm off to watch my hometown on Restaurant Impossible.  I'm scared, and might need to be held later.

New Year's Eve

Wow, the last day of 2013!  I can't lie, I won't be too terribly disappointed to see this year go.  There have been some definite high points, but it was also a year with too  many low points.  I'm ready for something new!  The calendar is being celebratory about the last day:

Sparkles?  Awesome!  Everything else?  Not so much!  WHAT is going on here, and WHY do they need to be peep toe?  Maybe they're cuter from the front?  Somehow I'm guessing no...

THIS is more of what I would have gone with.  Silver sparkles make me think New Year's, but these are just simple and pretty.  We don't need all of the WTH-ness of the calendar shoes.

New Year's Eve is also the 7th day of Christmas.  7 swans a-swimming:

Awwww....look at em swimming.

The Pinterest Friend sent me this.  It's...something.  Again, I must ask why some shoes are created and thought to be a good idea.

These are a *tiny* bit better?  OK,  not really.  These are stripper clogs with swans painted on them.

These aren't technically Christmas socks.  I know.  But I don't have 12 pairs of actual Christmas socks, so I'm trying to stretch things out here.

Happy New Year's!  Have fun!  Be safe!  Don't make resolutions that will only end up making you feel guilty!
