I'd love to stay and chat, but it's National Book Lovers Day and I must go read. Here are some Harry Potter shoes to celebrate.

Good Day!
I did 4 podcasts today. I'm still trying to catch up on the Bible Study one, which I seem to be perpetually behind on. BUT I did 2 Book Review Podcasts with the Camp Friend (who is now the Author Friend) and we talked about both of her books! As a reminder, they are Letters to Zell and New Charity Blues and you should read both of them, because she is awesome. And I had sooo much fun talking to her today. It was an honor to have her as my first-ever podcast guest, and I hope I did her and her books justice because I really don't know what I'm doing yet on this whole podcast thingamabob.
I also just discovered that today is Auntie's Day! I HAVE an auntie and I also AM an auntie. Dangit, I should have been home to celebrate with everyone. Rude. I will say that I love my auntie very very much and am so grateful for everything she has done for and been to me in my life. I am also proud to be an auntie and hope my nieces know how much I love them.
Try not to be too shocked, but I'm not really in a shoe mood tonight, so I'm just going to share a picture of me and my auntie:
Weren't we cute?
Also a picture of me and my dad's sister, who died a couple of year's ago and who I miss terribly:
And my twin aunties. Of whom I clearly need a more recent picture:
Except how awesome is THIS picture?
And that is all. The end.

I Heart Librarians
Today is National Librarian Day, and my daddy is a (retired) librarian! To celebrate the day, and the love of reading instilled in me by both of my parents, here are a few book-inspired shoes:
Ohmygoodness I love these. And I want to read them.
Love me some Harry Potter. These shoes had better be made out of photo copies, though, and not actual book pages, or I'm going to be super grumpy.
Same here. I also love Jane Eyre. It's my favorite from the Bronte sisters. I pretty much loathed Wuthering Heights and wanted to smack everyone.
Lord of the Ring shoes. These are awesome. I can't read Elvish, though, so hopefully there's nothing inappropriate written on these...
Awww....baby Babar shoes!
The day is almost over here, and already over for most of you, but you should definitely thank a librarian one of these days. I would say hug one, but that might get awkward, unless said library is your father. Love you, Mr. Daddy, you're my favorite librarian on the planet!

Bookshelves
Today is Clean Out Your Bookcase Day. I am not OK with this. That's maybe a little more melodramatic than it needs to be as I do occasionally go through my bookshelves and donate books, especially if I'm moving. I just don't want a day dedicated this purpose. It makes me sad, not celebratory. But it does give me an excuse to post more book shoes!
I want all of these! The last 4 are from Zazzle which continues to impress me with the amount of themed tennis shoes they have. I have no plans to clean off a bookshelf today, but I would gladly fill up a bookshelf with some of these shoes!
Today is also Love Your Pet Day, but I do that every day, so I'm just giving you one picture for each kind of pet we have.
Crochet puppy shoes! I should make some.
And I love these dragon baby shoes. So fierce. The PB definitely needs a pair.
3 Things:
- I DO love my pets! The puppies are so loving and snuggly, and the dragons are rather fascinating, and surprisingly sweet.
- I got my eyebrows waxed for the first time since September today. I found a thing on Facebook with a woman at a new place offering free services for the month of February. I made an appointment for eyebrows and lip, but she offered to do my whole face (including my nostrils, which doesn't hurt like you'd think, but man it's WEIRD). Now I have two eyebrows instead of just one and I no longer look like a muppet!
- The hubby and I are having a lazy day after a long (but good) week of training and getting to know the new employees.

Tea
My holiday website informed me that today is National Hot Tea Day. I love tea, and have since I was a kid (although as a kid it probably had a lot to do with the sugar). When I went to the site I read that this year is the first ever National Hot Tea day. Then I read a little further and found out that National Hot Tea Day is actually JANUARY 12. My holiday website has failed me! But, I'd already found tea shoes, so I'm still going to go with it.
Tea and books! Sounds like a perfect Saturday afternoon to me.
I know, Arizona Green Tea is iced, not hot, but the pretty can translated to pretty shoes.
These scare me. They're supposed to be teapots but the make me think of dragons or monsters.
Not scary, but still weird. If it's a real shoe, I'm sure it's sturdier than it looks, but I keep thinking it should shatter as soon as you stood up on it.
Kind of cute, but still falling short.
My mom collects teapots, maybe she needs some shoes! I think these are quirky and fun except for the heads. The heads are also quirky and fun, they just seem like they should be quirky and fun somewhere else. Why doe the shoepots have heads growing out of them?
Regardless of when the day actually is, I will continue to drink and enjoy my hot tea (still with sugar, just less than when I was a kid, and most often Truvia rather than actual sugar).
3 things:
- Gas money. Seems like a simple thing, but today I am really really grateful for it.
- Today would have been my dad's mom's 103rd birthday. I have complicated feelings about her, but she was family, and I will take the happy memories I have and try to reconcile the rest.
- Laughing with the husband because he is being a total, goofy, adorable dork.

Last Day of 2015
Can you believe we're at the end of another year? The calendar was celebratory with sparkles:
Pink this year. One of the few themes I've seen from the calendar is sparkly shoes for New Year's Eve. 2014 was a crazy sparkly wedge, and 2013 was a rather odd silver sparkly shoe. I think this year's offering is my favorite of the 3.
I was excited to see a familiar book pop up on the last day of the book calendar this morning:
And then I read the description. If you've read the book you'll understand my disappointment in the blurb. Did this person actually read the book?
Tomorrow will mark the first day in 3 years that I won't have a shoe calendar to look at, how crazy is that? I don't always include the calendar shoes in the blog, but I do enjoy the moment each morning when I get to turn over the next page and see what craziness or awesomeness awaits.
Oh well. I did a quick google of New Year's Eve shoes:
I agree with the calendar that New Year's shoes should be sparkly, and apparently Google agrees with us.
I think I'd like these better if they had a different heel. This one is too chunky and overwhelming.
Ooooh...fancy! Now these are some celebratory shoes.
I love the colors. The feathers are hilarious to me, though. I just can't picture myself in feathered shoes.
Regardless of whether your shoes are flats or heels, feathered or sparkly, I hope you have a very happy New Year!

Literary
I have one of my Facebook friends from St. Someone to thank for this recent bout of posting. She recently posted this picture on my timeline:
Dishes shaped like books! The hubby prefers white dishes, so maybe I could talk him into these? So fun. She also posted a link to a Google image search she had done for "literary shoes." Here are a few of my selections from the results:
I really like these, but I'm afraid I would trip as I was staring at my feet while walking, trying to read what my shoes said...
What's not to love? It's turquoise, shiny, a wedge, and literary. Oh wait...stupid slingback. Oh well.
These I would not buy. I appreciate the theme, but I'm not a huge Edgar Allen Poe fan in the first place, so I definitely don't want him staring up at me from my shoes. These also look like they have blood spatter on them, which, while appropriate to Poe, is not my first desire in footwear.
These I would be more likely to wear. When I'm out solving mysteries, of course.
Did this movie depress the crap out of anyone else? Cute shoes, though.
I haven't read Catcher in the Rye. I suppose I probably should. I've read Les Miserables, though, and enjoyed it (which is funny to me considering I was just complaining about how depressed Where the Wild Things Are and Les Miserables is WAY more depressing).
These are my favorite. They're blue, they're Mary Janes, they're literary! I would totally make myself a pair. First, though, let me just say that I would NEVER use the pages of an actual book unless the book was already damaged beyond reading, and then maybe. I'd be much more likely to use a copy. Don't abuse your books, people! Second, I'm not sure I'd be able to choose what book to use. I have so many I love. I'd have to have a pair of shoes for every favorite book, and that's a ridiculous number of shoes even for me. What book would you choose?
Thanks, MW, for the inspiration!

I Can't
I was supposed to help the hubby with a project today, but the headache I went to bed with took the night to get progressively worse. I managed to a few things, but for the most part I stayed home, snuggled with puppies, and put ice packs on my eyes. Now I think I might have sinus infection, or at least sinus crap. Either way it's rude. During the times when my eyes didn't feel like they were going to pop from the pressure I managed to finish reading Jesus Freak by Sara Miles. I have a huge long list of books I'm trying to catch up on, and this one needed to be finished so I can return in to the library. I like my theology best in the form of humorous, often slightly snarky, spiritual memoirs, so this worked nicely. And then I had to go look up "Jesus shoes." First, I'm shocked I've never done this before. Second, I wish I hadn't because now I can't unsee them. And if I can't, you don't get to either.
That is a LOT of white Jesus. On shoes. I don't know why I'm shocked, since I've found all kinds of weird stuff on shoes. I just can't get on board with these; they actually creep me out. I don't even find them funny, just weird. Poor Jesus...we're always trying to force him into weird boxes (in this case, shoe boxes!). I really hope the guy has a sense of humor.

Letters to Zell
I have a sinus infection. I feel like crap. Let's not talk about me.
Instead, let's talk about my amazing friend who has a book coming out in July! (why yes, I do have it pre-ordered on my Kindle, thank you for asking).
Here is the book:
And here is what it is about (according to Amazon):
Cinderella. I keep going back and forth. I either quite like it or I hate it..
Yowza. Snow White wedding shoes are intense.
These were also under Snow White, and are much better. I rather like them.
I have no idea why these would be Sleeping Beauty wedding shoes, but I like them, so I don't care.
Again, not sure of the connection. Any thoughts?
Also Rapunzel, and very sweet.

Here is the book:
And here is what it is about (according to Amazon):
Everything is going according to story for
CeCi (Cinderella), Bianca (Snow White), and Rory (Sleeping Beauty)—until
the day that Zell (Rapunzel) decides to leave Grimmland and pursue her
life. Now, Zell’s best friends are left to wonder whether their own
passions are worth risking their predetermined “happily ever afters,”
regardless of the consequences. CeCi wonders whether she should become a
professional chef, sharp-tongued and quick-witted Bianca wants to
escape an engagement to her platonic friend, and Rory will do anything
to make her boorish husband love her. But as Bianca’s wedding
approaches, can they escape their fates—and is there enough wine in all
of the Realm to help them?
In this hilarious modern interpretation of the fairy-tale stories we all know and love, Letters to Zell explores what happens when women abandon the stories they didn’t write for themselves and go completely off script to follow their dreams.
Don't I just have the coolest friends? In honor of Cami and her new book, here are shoes based on the 4 main characters. I went with wedding shoes, because they were more interesting to me tonight, and because the book is about what happens after the weddings and the supposed happily ever afters.

I don't think I'm enough of a Disney fan to go this far with my wedding shoes. The shoes themselves seem like they are cute, but I wouldn't want the pictures on the bottom. Are there any Disney characters you love so much you would want them on the bottom of your wedding shoes? I'm not coming up with anything so far for myself.
Also Rapunzel, and very sweet.
OK, not shoes and so not me, but I'm kind of in love with this. I found it when I was searching for shoes, and I love the flower details. Once upon a time this is sort of the dress I wanted, with the big skirt and the flowing train. I ended up going practical and not hauling 300 lbs of material around, but I do like this dress in theory.
If you're looking for a new author for your summer reading list, why not try Letters to Zell? I haven't read it yet, but I know the author, and she's pretty freaking fantastic.
