Hot Chocolate

Facebook very helpfully reminded me that 2 years ago today I got pulled over for the first time in my life.  No ticket, but it definitely freaked me out.  3 years ago today I had sinus surgery.  I'm celebrating the anniversary with a sinus infection, but I'm trying not to complain too much because I now only have a couple a year instead of one a month.  So yay for my ENT with his hammer and chisel!  5 years ago today I was in Florida for a continuing ed event.  The event might have been quite helpful if I hadn't been in a horrible depression at the time.  I think I cried a lot if I remember correctly.

Tonight's shoes are about none of these things, though, because today is also National Hot Chocolate Day!  Yum!  And it turns out that there is something called Hot Chocolate Designs.

How cute are these?  I especially love this last pair with the cherries, but I'll take a pair of each, thanks.  You should go check out the site, they have a ton of different designs.  I'll be taking my lovely sinus infection to bed now, thankyouverymuch.

Lolly Lolly Lolly

Do you remember School House Rock!?  I watched (and loved) it as a kid, and then my mom bought the series on VHS so the nieces have seen them all as well.  The other day the hubby was singing Lolly, Lolly, Lolly, Get Your Adverbs here, so it's been stuck in my head.  It frequently gets stuck there and I frequently sing it using all kinds of 2 syllable words:  Puppies, Puppies, Puppies, Get Your Puppies Here, or Dragons, Dragons, Dragons...you know, whatever I'm thinking of at the time.  If you don't know what I'm talking about, here is the video:

Adverbs, as I'm sure you know, modify verbs, and often end in the letters ly.  So here are my adverb inspired shoes for you today:

Shoe is a noun, but shod is a verb, so your feet can be brightly shod.  All of the shoes in today's post are ones I found by typing in the adverb + shoes and seeing what popped up.

Your feet can be obnoxiously shod.  What the hell IS this thing?

They can be elegantly shod.  I like this shoe; it's going in my imaginary wedding closet.

Ooooh...your feet can be warmly shod.  These look so snuggly!

Baby feet can be happily shod.

There was a period of time when about 15 people shared these to my Facebook page.  Apparently they were either all dog lovers or they wanted my feet to be foolishly shod.

You already know that I'm a big dork, and now you know that I'm an even bigger dork and a grammar nerd, one who writes blog posts about adverbs.

Remembering

I'm remembering my Auntie BA today on the 3rd anniversary of her death.  She was my dad's oldest sister, and she was a very sweet and kind person.  She loved her nieces and nephews and made sure that we knew it.  Here are 2 of my favorite pictures of her:

Auntie is on the right, and I just think she looks glamorous in this picture.

This is me with her when I was about 6.  I'm sure this picture was taken in the process of me claiming my snuggle spot on her lap.

And look!  A whole bunch of shoes named after her!  These are from a site that mostly features lingerie, and I think these are designed to match.  Frankly, I didn't spend much time on the site once I saw the scantily clad, big busted women.  Who needs the body shaming?  I think the shoes are fun, though, and I will just ignore where they came from.

I miss my auntie and wish I'd gotten to spend more time with her as an adult.  Since I can't, I will remember her and honor memory.

Happy Birthday, Tink!

Today Tink turned 7!  All of my babies need to stop growing up so fast, please.  To celebrate, here are some more shoes named after someone I love:

Burgundy velvet Mary Janes.  Love them.

Blue Mary Janes with sparkly heels! The heels on both of these are thicker than I usually like, but I don't mind it with these particular shoes.  And, bigger heels mean easier balancing

Same shoe, shorter heel.   I still like it, but like the first one better.  They also had the burgundy shoe in this style.

I like this shoe, even though it reminds me of a nightgown.

This one is interesting.  I don't hate it, but the detailing is a little off.

I like this as long as it doesn't go over the knee.  I have an aversion to boots that go over the knee.  Free the knees!

I don't usually like this style of shoe, but I have to admit that I love this one.  Tink certainly has some cute shoes named after her!

Once again, Happy Birthday, Tink!  I'm so happy to have you in my life.  You are a sweet  and amazing young woman, and I'm very lucky that your mama let's me claim you as my niece when she could just think I was some creepy adult who is way too in love with her children.

PS--today is also Chocolate Cake Day.  How lucky is Tink to have her birthday on Chocolate Cake Day?!

Spousal Shoes

Today is Spouses Day.  I have a spouse, as it turns out (which is still kind of weird when I think about it).  I actually kind of like him most of the time.  He drives me crazy some days, and I'm sure I reciprocate, but all in all I think we're weathering the craziness of our married life fairly well. I would have thought spouses day would, or could, just be on each couple's anniversary, but I guess there needs to be an extra, special day.  Or something.  I choose to celebrate by looking at shoes:

These are handy just in case you forget which spouse you are...

No way I would have gotten the hubby into blue canvas sneakers for our wedding, but I like the idea.

I MIGHT have gotten him into blue socks, though.  Damn, another opportunity missed.

Oh dear.  Irregular Choice strikes again.  What kind of drugs are those people doing over there while they're designing shoes?

Sorry for only 4 pictures tonight.  I'm so tired.  I haven't posted the last few days because I've been going to bed ridiculously early.  I have a sinus infection (but not as bad as they used to be, so yay!) and a yeast infection (sorry for the TMI), so basically I'm all infected and incredibly tired.  In fact, as soon as I fold the laundry in the dryer so I can dry the load I just washed, I'm going to bed again.

Now, if you haven't already, go smooch your spouse!

Polka Dots

Today is National Polka Dot Day!  Hooray! You might be asking, "WHY do you love polka dots so much?"  And my answer to you is, "I don't know!"  I really don't.  It's not like I have some lovely, nostalgic childhood memory involving polka dots, at least not that I can remember.  I guess polka dots just make me happy, which is reason enough sometimes.  Also, I have now typed the phrase "polka dots" enough times to wonder why are they POLKA dots and not just dots?  If you too wondered that, then feel free to go here and read some more.  Then come back and look at some shoes!

Shoes like this make me want a cute, proper suit and a pillbox hat. I'm not normal, am I?

I really like this color combination, I just wish the bows looked a little less like chewing gum.

Are you shocked that I love the blue one?  I also love the red one, so there.

This one is intriguing to me.  I like it and I also think it looks unfinished, so I don't know if I like it.

I would wear these.  I would laugh hysterically if I could also make the hubby wear them.  He's so boring in the shoe department.  It's a good thing his imaginary shoe closet only exists in my head or he might have a heart attack.

No pillbox hat, but definitely a saucy red suit.

Ooooh...polka dot baby shoes!  If the PB actually existed and I had unlimited funds for shoes, that kid would wear a different pair every day.  Which is ridiculous on so many levels.  Probably a good thing I have neither a baby nor unlimited funds.

Happy Polka Dotting!  Enjoy the day.  Celebrate the dot.

Mishmash

Several people have sent me things recently, so I thought I would share them with you.

First, SKD sent me this article about the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and its collection of shoes from the past 50 years.  It's currently in storage, but the collection has over 5,000 pairs of shoes.  Sounds fun to me!  I went to the Met once, but it was so insanely crowded I almost had an anxiety attack (note to self, DON'T go on Thanksgiving weekend).  You should go read the article, but here are 2 of the pairs I thought were interesting:

You know how I feel about flip flops, but these are amazing.  I would wear these.  Or decorate with them.

And of course I love the flower power boots from the 60s.

The Pinterest sent me these the other day.  I'm not exactly sure why except that they are insane and hilarious and therefor awesome.  Who wears these?

She also sent this.  It's shoe are!  It's empowering!  Hooray!

Aaaaand she found nerd socks.  This was totally me as a kid.  Go outside and play?  OK, how about I go outside and read?  Does that count?  This are also a nice segue into the fact that today is Squirrel Appreciation Day.

Is it me or do these look like bunnies with squirrel tails?  Whatever.  The PB could wear them on Squirrel Appreciation Day and be adorable and appropriately themed.

Finally, Mom sent this picture of Flower's adorable snow boots (with a shoe photo bomb by Laughter).

Finally finally, today is also National Hugging Day.  No shoes, just an invitation to go hug someone you love.  You could also hug someone you don't love, but that might lead to all kinds of awkwardness.

Penguins

Apparently today is Penguin Awareness Day.

I didn't look it up because I prefer to live with my own understanding (or lack thereof) of Penguin Awareness Day.  I did, however, look up some shoes to help celebrate the occasion.

I love these.  The penguin is looking up, so we could have conversations as we walked.

How cute are these?  AND you can make little penguin tracks!

Babies definitely need their own penguin shoes.

I don't know what else to say.  They're all just so stinking cute.

I could do with the fish, but the penguin is still adorable.

These look like they're from the same site where I got found the Santa shoes.  I'm too lazy to look it up, though.  Apparently I celebrate Penguin Awareness Day by being too lazy to look stuff up.  I prefer to live in ignorance and assumption rather than awareness.
