Happy Easter!

Christ is Risen!  Happy Easter!  Here are some shoes!

Oh, Irregular Choice...I'd love to know what kind of drugs you are on...

Um.  Who wears these?  Put down the glue gun and back away slowly.

Or these?  At least they are pretty colors?

Oh dear.  I really did have good intentions when I went looking for Easter shoes.  And the the results were really really frightening.  Poor little trapped bunnies.

At least these are marginally cuter.  The bunnies look a little sad, though.  And I just realized I ate zero chocolate on Easter.   I didn't go to church, and I didn't eat chocolate.  I officially suck at Easter.

I posted these last year (turns out I posted those Irregular Choice ones, too), but they're so bright and fun, and I needed a palate cleanser after the rest of this craziness.

These are cute, too, so at least we're ending on a decent note.

3 Things:
  1. I made it through Lent with the 3 things!  I missed those 2 days, but made them up, so I didn't do too bad.  And now I will stop subjecting you to this part of the blog.  I should probably tell you all of the deep things I learned about gratitude by doing this, but I'm just too tired to think straight.
  2. We finished at the old house today!  Done.  Yay!
  3. Christ is risen!  We celebrate the promises of the resurrection once again!

And Also With You

Happy Star Wars Day!  I have always loved Star Wars and am very happy that this is a holiday, even if I haven't had time to watch anything Star Wars-y today.  The day started with me getting Double A and The Bean up for school as they spent the night last night (yay) since I left today (boo).  Turns out I'm THAT mom (auntie) who drops her kids (nieces) off at school wearing her pajamas and slippers.  They were fed and dressed and had their homework, I just wasn't exactly put together.  I even got out of the car for good-bye hugs which meant people witnessed my lovely, bra-less attire.  The kiddos didn't seem to care, though.  After I finished packing and actually showered and dressed, Mom, Dad and I headed off to the seester's and from there we went to Flower's school for her 4th grade school program.  She was awesome!  She was a pirate in the show, which was all about pirates, but even more awesome, she was in a special choir called Kids in Motion that is comprised of 3-5 graders.  AND even more awesomer, she is also part of the Junk Band, which is a percussion group that uses things like buckets and garbage cans, etc.  She was so good, and it was so fun!  Also, she was totally the cutest pirate in the whole show.  After a couple of hours hanging out with the fam it was time to head to the airport.  Sigh.  I'm currently in the Salt Lake airport, having completed the first part of my journey.  I have a 3 hour layover and free wi-fi, so thought I'd do a quick post.  I'm so lucky and blessed to have had 2 weeks at home with my family, but it always tears me apart a little bit to leave.  I miss the hubby and am looking forward to seeing the puppies and dragons, but I hate leaving the fam.  Yes, I am a 41 year old woman who wants her mommy.  And her siblings, and auntie, and nieces.  I love being with them.

Back to Star Wars Day.  Part of the reason I was less than put together for school drop-off this morning was because the girls wanted Star Wars hair for school.  I am not great at doing my own hair, let alone someone else's, but we watched some Youtube tutorials last night and came up with the following:

The Bean has Rey's hair from The Force Awakens.

Double A has Princess Leia's Cloud City hair from The Empire Strikes Back.  I thought they turned out pretty well considering I have no experience and we only decided last night to give it a shot.

That was the hair, let's look at shoes!

Our friends at Irregular Choice even have Star Wars shoes!  Poor R2-D2 is being stepped on.

The artwork isn't great on these (although WAY better than I could ever do), but I like that they're of the newest movie.

Awww...BB-8 is adorable, as are these shoes, although BB-8 seems implied rather than explicit.  Maybe he's on the other side.

Ooooh...the bad guys!

These crack me up.  So very romance-movie-esque!

I know 2 of these are the same as the first picture, but now you can see Yoda (whose head is also being stepped on), and because this led me to this page which is 14 pairs of Irregular Choice Star Wars Shoes.  You should go look.  No really.  Go look.  And May the Fourth be With You!

Happy Easter!

Christ is risen!  Christ is risen indeed!  Alleluia!  How was your Easter?  Mine was quite nice, actually.  I went to church!  Then I came home and we talked to the hubby's family for awhile after which I had a lovely Easter nap.  While I was sleeping the hubby made whatever-is-in-the-kitchen pizza.  It was quite yummy.  Now we are hanging out with the puppies.  Time for Easter shoes!

First, the calendar.  This shoe is awesome!  I would totally wear this for Easter.

Ohhhhh, Irregular Choice.  Always crazy.

I don't need toe shoes, but these are adorable. I hope they are part of some fab Easter ballet.

DIY Easter shoes!  Next year we should all make a pair.

Babies and bunnies.  Always a good choice.

How fun are these?  So bright and cheerful.

Also bright and cheerful, but in a totally different way.  I love these.

What's up with me and pink lately?  These are super fun.  I'm also really into wedges right now.  Look at all the fun colors in these heels.

These are the shoes I wore this morning.  Nothing new this year, but these are still one of my favorite pairs.  And see?  Wedges again.

These are a pair of Clarks that I own.  I wore them a couple of weeks ago when I went to a training, and a friend of mine from seminary said she had the same shoes.  I went to her church this morning and she was wearing these exact shoes!  It was cool, but maybe you had to be there.

Hope you had a fabulous Easter!  Χριστός ἀνέστη! (Christos Anesti! (Christ is Risen in Greek)).

Ice Cream (Sort Of)

Guess what?  The hubby and I played hooky and left the office before 3:00 this afternoon!  It was like a tiny vacation.  We still worked from home, but it was nice to come hang out with the puppies.  I even had time to run errands tonight at a decent time.  To celebrate, and because it was a million degrees again, we just polished off a pint of ice cream each.  Except not really:

It's dairy-free, gluten-free, fat free, has a low glycemic index, and has protein and fiber.  AND it's only 150 calories a pint, so it's pretty awesome.  This is flavor I had tonight.  The hubby had cookie shake, I think.  There are about 20 flavors.  It's not Ben and Jerry's, but it's pretty darn yummy, and it's dessert the hubby can eat.  Plus, 150 calories verses the 12 billion in a pint of B&J's.

So, weird ice cream leads to weird ice cream shoes:

Oh, Irregular Choice.  You continue to be weird, and...well...irregular.

Irregular

One of my fabulous bible study ladies (FBSL) sent me a link today for a website she found called Irregular Choice.  It's an appropriate name, because there are some strange shoes.  Here is a sampling:

These are...interesting?  It's just too much.  It's like 4 shoes got smooshed together.  Could they not have gone with a bit more of a cohesive theme?

Gotta love the Mary Jane style.  Not so much with the smooshing again.  Take out the snakeskin and I might be on board with these.

Damn.  Is that a lucite heel?  These are stripper shoes for little girls?

Oh man, I totally should have had these for my monsters post.  These are hilarious.  Wait, is that a fin?  Are these sharks?
Just no.

You should definitely go check out the site because there is more craziness to be had, and you know you need more crazy.  I can't give them too much of a hard time, though, as they did have my Scottie Dog shoes.  Still can't afford them, but there they are if I ever win the lottery.

Spousal Shoes

Today is Spouses Day.  I have a spouse, as it turns out (which is still kind of weird when I think about it).  I actually kind of like him most of the time.  He drives me crazy some days, and I'm sure I reciprocate, but all in all I think we're weathering the craziness of our married life fairly well. I would have thought spouses day would, or could, just be on each couple's anniversary, but I guess there needs to be an extra, special day.  Or something.  I choose to celebrate by looking at shoes:

These are handy just in case you forget which spouse you are...

No way I would have gotten the hubby into blue canvas sneakers for our wedding, but I like the idea.

I MIGHT have gotten him into blue socks, though.  Damn, another opportunity missed.

Oh dear.  Irregular Choice strikes again.  What kind of drugs are those people doing over there while they're designing shoes?

Sorry for only 4 pictures tonight.  I'm so tired.  I haven't posted the last few days because I've been going to bed ridiculously early.  I have a sinus infection (but not as bad as they used to be, so yay!) and a yeast infection (sorry for the TMI), so basically I'm all infected and incredibly tired.  In fact, as soon as I fold the laundry in the dryer so I can dry the load I just washed, I'm going to bed again.

Now, if you haven't already, go smooch your spouse!

Quirky

As I was perusing pumpkin shoes yesterday I came across a pair listed as "quirky," so I thought that would be a good direction to head for today's post.

I can't imagine you're surprised that Irregular Choice shoes were some of the first to come up under this search.  There's a fine line between quirky and weird and they regularly blur that line.

These are actually kind of cute.  I get the quirky vibe, but I'm certainly not mad at them for anything.

I feel like this is a shoe that Ms. Frizzle from the Magic School Bus could totally rock. Not sure about anyone else, though.

Love the color, but the sad faces kind of scare me a little.

These were listed as quirky wedding shoes.  I'm a little frightened to see the rest of that wedding.

I find these intriguing.  I don't want a pair, but they're kind of cool, and the right kind of quirky personality could totally pull these off.

I've now thought and typed the word quirky so many times that it has ceased being a real word and turned into gibberish.

Weird Weddings

I haven't been keeping up with showing you stuff from the calendar lately, so this is almost a week old, but I will want you to see it.

These are 19th Century French wedding shoes, and they are crazy.  Although, if the wedding were attacked my ninjas, the bride would have had weapons readily available.  Say what you will about my wedding shoes, they were a touch less scary than these, at least.  But, I did a tiny bit of looking and found these same shoes on Pinterest with the caption, "Wooden Bridal Shoes France, 19th century. Village men created the clogs for their future brides. It is said that the higher the point, the greater his love for her."  Awww...that's kind of sweet.  Still weird, but sweet.  Now I want to know what the hubby would have carved for me for our wedding.  Hopefully would have had Dad help him as Dad is an awesome carver.

Let's look at more odd wedding shoes, shall we?

Ooooh....stripper wedding shoes!

There's so much going on with this shoe that I'm not sure where to start.  What would the dress look like?!

Look!  Our old friends from Irregular Choice make wedding shoes.  And they are just as odd as all the rest of their shoes.

Origami?  Folded linen napkin art?  Repurposed nurse hats?

I would totally want the ring bearer to carry a matching fuzzy pillow.

I have absolutely no idea.  Maybe an ocean theme?  Maybe the shoe designer was drunk?

I think this might be a cousin of that first one.  I actually like this one even less.

So there you have it:  Weird wedding shoes.  I'm all for fun and different shoes for your big day, but these are a little too out there for me.  Probably I'm just a wedding shoe prude.

It was in the 80s here today and it's still 79 degrees in the house, and I have a fever.  I refuse to turn the air conditioning on in March, though.  Maybe I'll go sleep on the day bed in the backyard.
