Leaves

Today was another rough one.  Yesterday was so good, and so hope-filled, and today was just...not.  Can someone please stop this roller coaster? Because I would very much like to get off.  Sigh.  I've been trying to think of what I am thankful for today, and of course there are many things, but on days like today it can be hard to push past all the negative to focus on the good things.  I have been noticing the leaves, though.  We don't get terribly defined seasons here, but some of the leaves change and today I was noticing a lot of really pretty trees on my drive to work.  So I'm grateful that nature smacks me in the face with beauty sometimes, because I definitely need it.  Here are some shoes.

These are interesting.  I like them.

These are crazy, but make me want to wear them while kicking leaves.

Oh Zazzle, you have shoes for everything.

These are also interesting.  I can't decide if I like them or not.  I do, sort of, but then I look again and I don't.  I have no idea.

These are my favorite.  I would like to wear these right now, please.

I keep telling myself tomorrow is a new day.  It has become my mantra.

Shoes and Leaves

So...where to start?  JG asked me a couple of weeks ago if I was going to post again and I wasn't sure what to tell her.  I've thought about posting numerous times, but things are crazy busy at the office.  Which is good, things are definitely on an upswing, and I'm grateful for that, but it means that life is a little insane right now.  Last night we got home about 8:00 and then I worked for another 2 1/2 hours.  I was out of the house again this morning at 8:00 to do a million things so the hubby could head to a meeting in the Bay Area, and then it was off to the office for another full day.  So it's good, just crazy.

There's other stuff, too, and I had it all laid out in my head this morning in the shower, but apparently that post went down the drain with the water.  The gist of it is I'm not getting a lot of introvert time due to the crazy, which makes me feel a little funky.  The funky feelings lead me to make extremely poor decisions health-wise.  I don't drink enough water.  I eat crappy food.  I don't get enough exercise.  It all combines to make the funk even funkier.  Oh, and I'm fat.  Sorry about the body shaming, but it's true.  If I were healthy it would be one thing, but since I'm making poor health choices, well, blah.  We have family pictures coming up in November and all I can think if how awful I'm going to look and it's all my fault and my socially constructed brain that has been taught that women should look a certain way has taken over and my sister is going to be way cuter than I in yet another series of family pictures.  (side note...I love my sister, this is nothing against her, she's beautiful inside and out...it's just my own crap stemming from my socially constructed telling me I'm fat.  Blah).

Still with me?  Happy I haven't been posting?  Wondering why I'm posting now?  Yeah, I get it.  Let's look at some shoes, shall we?  The calendar says it's Autumn, even if the temps don't always agree, so here are shoes and Autumn leaves.  Some shoes I like, some I don't.  Some pictures are better than others.  I'll leaf (ha!) the details of which is which to you.

I have Sleepy Time tea in a Halloween cup waiting for me to drink while I read before bed, so I must leave you now.

Receptionist

Today is National Receptionists Day, and I'm a receptionist.  Sort of.  It's one of the hats I wear at work at any rate.  I like hats, but this is a shoe blog, so we'll look at shoes.  Duh.  I don't really wear heels much these days, and none of what follows are terribly practical for 8-12 hour days, but they can all go in the new Imaginary Receptionist Closet.

I have comments, I'm just too tired to write anything clever, or even not clever.  I'm just tired.  I feel like I'm tired all the time lately.

Happy Thanksiversary!

I hope you all had a wonderful turkey day, full of whatever makes you the happiest.  We had a quiet morning and then spent the afternoon with friends, so it was a very nice day.  I wore my turkey socks, as is only appropriate:

They were inside my boots, so no one actually saw them, but I knew they were there.

Speaking of turkeys, Double A lived up to her awesome nickname this week with her nails:

The kid's got talent, I tell you.  I can't even paint my nails in a solid color and have them look decent.  She painted a frickin' turkey on hers!

And now some shoes.

I love these three pairs as a set.  I would need three babies to wear them and be appropriately themed.  They could then sit in the middle of the table and be adorable, Thanksgiving centerpieces.

I need these to go with my turkey socks!

Today was not only Thanksgiving, but also my parents 49th wedding anniversary!  Yay, parents!  I looked it up, and the gift for the 49th anniversary is "luxury goods."  Hmmm...I don't think the parents got each other any luxury goods this year.  I typed in the phrase luxury shoes, though, and the first thing that came up was this:

Wow.  That is insane.  And ugly.  Does this say luxury to you?  Because it sure as heck does not say it to me.

I like these better, but they still look more cheap than luxurious to me.  What's up with that?

Huh.  These were labeled "diamante."  I should google that and see if it's something fancy, but I'm too full of turkey to go research.  I don't hate these, but I'm not fond of them, either.

Sparkly!  I don't know if these are luxurious necessarily, but I do love the sparkle.

Mom loves green, so I had to include some green luxury shoes for her.  I'm not sure what the detail on the back is, and would like them better without it, but these are pretty for the most part.

Even if your day didn't involve luxury items, I hope it involved loved ones in some way shape or form.  And dessert.

White White White

White seems to be a bit of a theme of my week. First the hubby is a big fan of bleach.  I've used more bleach since we got married than in the entire rest of my life.  I can appreciate certain aspects of it for cleaning, but it's not my favorite, and what really annoys me is that I keep getting bleach spots on my clothes.  No mater how careful I am I never seem to be careful enough and I have gotten bleach spots on way too many articles of clothing.  Like I said, I can appreciate some things, like how white and clean it gets the hubby's stinky t-shirts (heehee).    Yesterday, for reasons to boring to relate, I had to drive the hubby's Mach 1 Mustang.  It's a white car.  It's a stick shift and actually kind of fun to drive, but it also makes me extremely nervous.  It's the hubby's "baby" and I'm always afraid I'm going to breathe on it wrong or something horrible will happen and he'll completely freak out.  Finally, also yesterday, the hubby and I were having a conversation and I said, "I'm all about that base," which he found absolutely hilarious because of how I absolutely can't pull that (or many) phrase(s) off.  He says I'm the whitest person on the planet.  Come on...really?  The whitest?  Yes, I'm crazy pasty, but there has to be other people who are whiter than I.  Mr. Rogers?  My grandmother?  I do admit to being pretty darn white, though.  Silly man, always rubbing it in.:-)

Moving on.  White shoes!

See?  White doesn't have to mean boring.  Some of these are fun, right?  A little whacky, like the cowboy boots above or the leaf shoes further up.  I can live with whacky, though.

PS--you do realize that much of this post is tongue in cheek, right?

Happy Fall!

OK, technically it won't be Fall here for another hour, but for those of you in the other time zones, you're already there.  I love Fall, it's my favorite season, and I miss it.  We get some leaves that change here, and some of them are very pretty, but it's not the same.  I miss crunching through a layer of leaves, kicking them, and jumping in piles of them.  Yes, I do know I'm very immature.  Let's celebrate the change of season with some shoes!

Hmmm...these don't make me want to celebrate.  These are frumpy.

But these are awesome!

These are OK.  Definitely on point theme-wise.

I actually really like the orange tennies.  I also love pictures of feet in leaves.  In fact, the PF posted one on Facebook of her shoes in the leaves in Idaho, and I was totally jealous.

I'm not as sure about the feather on these, but the colors are fun, and they almost look like stained glass.

Gingham.  Leaves.  Fun.

I am intrigued by these.  Hate the thing between the toes, but these are actually pretty cute.

So, Happy Fall!  Go out and  kick some leaves for me.

Friday, Fall, Feet

We don't get terribly defined seasons here, like we did in MT.  The calendar says it's Fall, but while some trees change, it just doesn't look or feel like Fall to me.  On the positive side, it isn't as hot.  It's cooling off nicely at night, and not getting as hot during the day.  But I'm still wearing capris and t-shirts as opposed to jeans and sweaters.  This is one thing I definitely miss about living in MT.  I don't necessarily miss snow and all that comes with it, but I miss having 4 distinct seasons.  Anyhoodle, it is Fall, which got me to thinking about seasons and changing leaves, etc.  That thinking led me to search for leaf shoes.  There are some interesting ones out there, let me tell you.  Here, I'll show you a few:

Clearly these are elf shoes.  You know, an elf in the Fall.

Girlier elf shoes.  A very little elf, though, as I don't think you could actually put much weight on those heels.  Cute boots, though.

These are just odd.  I'm not sure what it is about them that makes me say ew, but they're not my favorite.

Actual boots!  And by that I mean I'm not sure the first three are meant to actually be shoes for people.  They seem more like art.  Or a pinterest project.  Or shoes for a costume.  These are kind of fun, though.  They could also be for a costume, but I could see them being worn other times, too.

Happy Fall!  Whether you're wearing sandals or boots or something in-between, here's hoping you're having a lovely season.
