UFOs

Oh man, it was Take Your Dog to Work Day and we missed it!  Poor Chalupa and Tallulah had to stay home.  Next year maybe I'll stay home and sleep all day and send them to work with the hubby!  Today is also World UFO Day, so clearly we need to look at some UFO shoes.

Awww...baby UFO shoes are kind of cute.  The last two pairs could also be tops if you didn't want your baby wearing alien vessels on his or her feet...

I'm scared.  These are hideous. And also hilarious.  But mostly hideous because even the shoes without the UFO stuff are ugly.

Well you know I love the color.  Yes, I know, not shoes, but still fun!

Oh my goodness, there has to be some kind of crazy, kitschy party where these shoes could be worn.  With a skirt or dress that also has UFOs on it?  These are hilariously ridiculous.

I saw zero UFOs today (except on shoes).  How about you?

Today, despite the lack of UFO sightings, was much better than yesterday.  Part of my problem is that I'm not taking care of myself physically, which leads to mental and spiritual fatigue as well.  I'm not working out, not eating right, drinking too much soda, sitting at my desk too much, etc.  I sleep like the dead, but never feel rested, so then I get grumpy and moody.  Today I decided that I need to make some changes.  Well, I've known this forever, but haven't been able to muster up any kind of willpower to make the changes.  Today I decided that every time I went to the bathroom (which is not in our office, but in a different part of the building) I would then walk all the way around the building.  Kind of pathetic I know, but it gets me up and moving, which helps both mentally and physically.  And since the one thing I generally do fairly well is hydration, I go to the restroom on a fairly regular basis.  So it gets me away from my desk and gives me a little mental break.  According to my phone it's about 500 steps around the building, so 20 trips to the bathroom and I'll hit my 10,000 steps a day!

Memory Lane: 2013. 2014 (this says June 25, but it was one of those just-past-midnight posts). 2015.

Happy Thanksiversary!

I hope you all had a wonderful turkey day, full of whatever makes you the happiest.  We had a quiet morning and then spent the afternoon with friends, so it was a very nice day.  I wore my turkey socks, as is only appropriate:

They were inside my boots, so no one actually saw them, but I knew they were there.

Speaking of turkeys, Double A lived up to her awesome nickname this week with her nails:

The kid's got talent, I tell you.  I can't even paint my nails in a solid color and have them look decent.  She painted a frickin' turkey on hers!

And now some shoes.

I love these three pairs as a set.  I would need three babies to wear them and be appropriately themed.  They could then sit in the middle of the table and be adorable, Thanksgiving centerpieces.

I need these to go with my turkey socks!

Today was not only Thanksgiving, but also my parents 49th wedding anniversary!  Yay, parents!  I looked it up, and the gift for the 49th anniversary is "luxury goods."  Hmmm...I don't think the parents got each other any luxury goods this year.  I typed in the phrase luxury shoes, though, and the first thing that came up was this:

Wow.  That is insane.  And ugly.  Does this say luxury to you?  Because it sure as heck does not say it to me.

I like these better, but they still look more cheap than luxurious to me.  What's up with that?

Huh.  These were labeled "diamante."  I should google that and see if it's something fancy, but I'm too full of turkey to go research.  I don't hate these, but I'm not fond of them, either.

Sparkly!  I don't know if these are luxurious necessarily, but I do love the sparkle.

Mom loves green, so I had to include some green luxury shoes for her.  I'm not sure what the detail on the back is, and would like them better without it, but these are pretty for the most part.

Even if your day didn't involve luxury items, I hope it involved loved ones in some way shape or form.  And dessert.

Lights

Today had me thinking about light.  It's the Winter Solstice, which means it's the shortest day of the year.  Less light and more dark, but starting tomorrow that balance will start back the other way, little by little.  Advent is like that as well.  We wait in darkness for the light that is Jesus to come into the world.  Each week we light one more candle on the Advent wreath, adding more and more light.  I was also noticing Christmas lights today, first on the seester's 2 trees, then on the tree at a friend's house, and finally on all of the houses as I drove home in the growing dark.  I love the lights this time of year.  Here are some Christmas lights for you to contemplate.  They won't light up the darkness in a literal sense, but maybe they'll make you smile a bit.

If I had these I would have worn them while decorating all the trees this year.

This just makes me want to cross-stitch (while also reminding me that I have a cross-stitch project waiting to be finished that is looooong overdue).

I'm not exactly sure what these are in terms of decorations, but they are certainly festive.

Wait, these might have better arch support for the decorating...

Yep.  The shoe tree needs these.  Maybe not in purple.  Maybe in a multicolored strand?

Hmmmm...it occurs to me that I don't actually have any Christmas socks with lights on them.  I should probably remedy that situation one of these years.

Not socks or shoes, but fits with the theme, and they're cute!  Double A could totally do this, I wish I'd thought of it before she went to her mom's!

My family and friends are definitely lights in my own darkness.  I spent time last night and today teaching Flower how to crochet a granny square.  She's still working on memorizing the pattern, but she is doing awesome.  Pretty sure she's way better than I was at 9.  Laughter has more energy than 10 kids and sometimes makes me tired just looking at her.  We painted with water colors today, and she made a map so we'd know where we all lived.  This afternoon was a Christmas open house at a friend's house.  She and her family recently moved into a new house, so it was a house-warming as well.  Her kiddos also crack me up.  And then tonight the seester, Flower, Laughter, and I all sat together and watched White Christmas together.  What a perfect end to the day.

Thank you to all of you who bring light to my darkness!

Not So Much Shoes

The Bean and I have a date to watch A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, hopefully tomorrow.  I didn't watch The Great Pumpkin this year, so I must be better about my holiday Charlie Brown viewing.  Tonight's post is an homage to this great holiday classic:

Could someone please find these and send them to me by Thursday morning?  Thanks, that would be awesome.

I never paint my fingernails, but I might consider it for this.  Or I could do my toes this way, right?  But then no one would really see them.  Bummer.

These are cookies, people.  Cookies.  They're too pretty to eat!

This necklace kind of cracks me up.  It's cute, but I don't think it's the necklace for me.

Awwww...Pedro (or the PB) needs this!

Holy charm bracelet, Batman!  See?  It has the same charm as on the necklace above, but it makes a little more sense here.  Dang this thing is busy.  Not that I can say anything as I had to start a new charm bracelet because my first one was full.  (it's not Charlie Brown, though)

I need these by Thursday too, please.  I don't have any Thanksgiving earrings.  How sad is that?

Sorry about only 1 pair of shoes tonight, but it's not like there are a ton of this specifically themed shoes out there.  But in the spirit of Thanksgiving, I am grateful for these fun and silly objects to make me smile.  I'm also thankful for my nieces, but I don't seem to be doing so great at being auntie this trip home.  This was the one thing I always felt pretty good at, and now I'm screwing it up too.  Must. Do. Better.
