It's a Mystery

Today's shoes have a theme.  They are what came up when I typed in a certain word + shoes into the image search.  I'm just not going to tell you what that word is.  Because apparently I'm feeling stubborn today.  And for those of you who know me, you'll know that I am very rarely stubborn...😁 Without further ado, here are the shoes:

Well, that's weird.  Kind of cool in an arty way, but definitely weird from a shoe perspective.

These are very similar to the shoes in yesterday's post, and I still don't really care for the cross detail.

I actually love this, although again from an arty perspective.  The colors are bright and fun, and I can see Ms. Frizzle wearing these on a Magic School Bus Adventure.

I'm not completely sure what's going on here, but I like the colors.

Speaking of loving the colors.  Plus stripes!  So fun.

And there you have it.  Mystery theme.  If you have any guesses, let me know, but I don't think anyone will actually figure it out.

Happy Birthday, Double A

Quick commercial break before the post.  Today I created a glossary of nicknames and things I use on the blog that you may or may not know.  I will put links in posts for those nicknames so you can always click on them and read about anything you might not remember.  Please let me know what else I can add to the glossary, because I know I've forgotten stuff!  Now...on to the post!

Today is Double A's birthday!  (see that underline under Double A?  That leads you to the glossary!)  I can't believe she is 17 today.  Just like last year I couldn't believe she was 16, and 7 years ago I couldn't believe she was 10, and 10 years ago I couldn't believe she was 7....you get the idea.  I'm so proud of the young woman she is becoming.  She has the sweetest personality and she makes me smile on a regular basis.   A couple of weekends ago was her spring play.  She's a drama nerd like me!  Which makes me sooooo happy.  Her costume for the play involved a really bright, fun yellow skirt.   It was sunshiney just like her.  I mean, look at this face, how could it not make you smile?

She was such a sweet, happy baby.  How can you not smile at that face?

OK, these aren't yellow, but they are sunshiney.  I like them.  They are bright and fun.

I love these, but I'm not so sure about the cross detail.  Which is weird...you'd think I'd like the cross, right?  And I do, but just not on these shoes for some reason.

Oh, I forgot to mention that all of the shoes are flats because Double A is not a fan of heels.  Silly niecey-poo!  I would like to have a cute pair of yellow ballet flats for summer.

These are to much.  Pick one and go with it.  I would pick the laces because I love that bright yellow.

You knew the baby shoes were coming, right?  Baby Double A could have totally rocked any of these.  Any kid who can pull off a red and white striped, off the shoulder Elmo shirt, can make these adorable shoes look fierce!

Happy Birthday, Double A!  Like I said on Facebook, I love you to the moon, stars, pond, and back!

A Spot of Sunshine

First, thank you all for the prayers and good thoughts, they are greatly appreciated.  I kind of wish I hadn't said anything, though.  Not because I didn't want or need those prayers, because I most certainly did, but because my own crap took away from a post about a man who was an important part of my childhood, and I feel bad for that.

Things today feel a little better.  Not perfect, not fixed, but not as desperate as yesterday, so the prayers definitely helped.  I still need a bit of brightness in my life, though, so rather than yet another Halloween post, I'm going with bright, sunshiney yellow shoes tonight:

So bright and cheerful!  I can never seem to find the right shade of yellow shoes when I go shopping for them.  Actually, I have found a couple of pairs but they were insanely uncomfortable when I tried them on which is just rude.  Oh well.  Yellow is bright and happy and I need that today, even if it is only in the context of virtual shoes on a silly blog.

Duckies

I got to Skype with the fam today, which was awesome.  Although I'm not sure I ever saw anyone's whole face at any given time, which was awesomely hilarious.  I saw a lot of Laughter's hair, a lot of Flower's glasses, the seester's and auntie's parts in their hair, Mom's elbow, The Bean's and Double A's chins.  Oh well, it was nice to see even that much of them!  We Skyped to talk about Mom and Dad's upcoming 50th wedding anniversary, but I also got to wish Flower a happy baptism anniversary.  She was baptized 8 years ago today!  Except...she wasn't.  I had it on my calendar as today, but it was really October 5th.  I'm the worst auntie/godmother ever.  At least I got to sing to her even if it was on the wrong day.  Yep, I sing for everything.  This was Happy Baptism Anniversary to the tune of Happy Birthday.  I just shoved those extra syllables right on in.  I'm fairly sure there was eye rolling on more than just the part of Flower.

Anywho, since I've already done baptism shoes a couple of times, I thought I'd do something else.  So ducky shoes!  Hey, baptism...water...ducks...work with me here. And yes, I've also done ducks before, but only once, and those were mostly adult shoes.

Crocheted duckies! And yes, day 3 of baby shoes. I've decided to continue to torture myself.  Besides, duckie and puppy baby shoes are just cuter.

Duckie pull-toy shoes.  Or so I'm assuming.

Kissing duckies!  I don't think that's what they're actually supposed to be doing, but it's my blog and I'll make stuff up as it amuses me.

These are super sweet.  I wish I could see the detail a little clearer.

Also sweet.  Also pull toys?  Actually old fashioned or just made to look that way?

I though I'd end on a whimsical/crazy note.  Don't dress your baby's feet in rubber ducky crocs, please!  Unless you have a really compelling reason, of course.  Like a theme party.  I'm all for theme shoes.

I'm shutting up now.  I think the sinus infection/bronchitis is making me loopy(er).

Milestone!

Hey, guess what?!

Have you guessed yet?

How about now?

C'mom...are you even trying?

OK, fine, I'll tell you after the jump.

Kool-Aid

There are a 4 million things I should be doing at work right now.  I've already checked about 2.5 million things off of my to-do list today, so I've decided to take a break and write a post.  August 12 is a day of many holidays:

See?  Lots of good stuff in there.  I particularly like that it's Middle Child's Day and posted a picture of the uncle, the brother, and Double A on Facebook so they couldn't say I forgot them.  I've decided for this post, though, to go with National Kool-Aid Day.

I love all of the colors! The soles are cool, too, but they'd be better if they made footprints with that said Kool-Aid and had the face.

Do they still have Kool-Aid commercials where the pitcher crashes through things and says, "Oh yeah!"?  Looking back, that was kind of rude.

Did you drink Kool-Aid as a kid?  What was your favorite flavor?  Did you make Kool-Aid Popsicles?  I like red best, I think.  My brother hated the orange flavor...something about dish soap.  Silly middle child.  And, one more random Kool-Aid memory:  at church they used to make it with very little to no sugar.  That. Was. Gross.

The end.

Puppets on Facebook

Today we left the house at 6:30 am and got home at 8:30 pm.  It was a rather long day.  To break it up some (and because I apparently don't have enough to do *cough* sarcasm *cough*) I logged into various Facebook accounts and had the puppets and Pedro converse with each other.  Very few people noticed.  Or possibly they did, decided I've completely lost my mind, and backed away very slowly.  Here are some Muppet shoes to commemorate my craziness:

I and the PB would like all of them, please.  The puppets would too, but they don't have any feet...

Rainbow Canvas

Remember that roller coaster I mentioned a few posts back?  Well the ups and downs continue, although we seem to be going down more than up here of late.  I decided I needed a rainbow of canvas shoes to cheer me up:

I will take a pair of each, please.

A Day of Many Things

Today, as the title suggests, is one of many things. First, it's Sunday and I actually went to church.  A friend of mine is the Priest in Charge at the Episcopal church here that I occasionally go to, and she asked if I would help with Sunday School this year.  So I went to church (it was Youth Sunday where they talked about what they learned in Kids Kamp, and all those little voices in the service made me happy) and then had lunch with the priest and the current Sunday School teacher with whom I'll be working.  I figure it's one way to start to get back and involved in church since I've been doing a crap job of it on my own.

In other news, today is Yellow Pig Day, which apparently is a mathematician's holiday.  Check out the link if you want to know more.  In the meantime here are some yellow pig shoes:

Yellow pigs kind of scare me a little bit.

Pink pigs on yellow shoes are better.

Today is also World Emoji Day.  Although, like Social Media Day, isn't every day kind of emoji day?

I don't necessarily want to wear either pair, but they are fun.  I like the bright colors on the black pair better.

It's also National Ice Cream Day!  This is definitely a holiday I can get behind.  We had frozen yogurt this afternoon, so that kind of counts as celebrating?

I've posted ice cream shoes before, but I don't think I've posted these?  I'm fairly certain about the pink pair and I'm positive I haven't posted the pair with the chocolate sprinkles.  Because you know me and chocolate.

It's also Peach Ice Cream Day, which seemed odd to me until I realized that National Ice Cream Day is the 3rd Sunday in July and Peach Ice Cream day is actually July 17, so they just happened to coincide this year.

This is what came up when I did the search for peach ice cream shoes.  They're very pretty, but do they remind me of peach ice cream?  Not really.  Too orange.  Which means they are perfect for SKD!

AND, it's National Tattoo Day!  I had no idea there was a holiday.  Now I do.  I should have done something for my 4 tattoos to celebrate.  I wonder what that would be?  Extra lotion?  They're own social media pages?  The perfect way to celebrate would be to get a 5th one, but the hubby might divorce me...

These are both odd, but kind of interesting.  And WAY better than some of the crazy-@$$ pictures of shoes that people have tattooed on themselves. You know I love me some shoes, but it has never once crossed my mind to get a tattoo of them.

Dang, July 17th is a busy day.  Finally, it's Scout's birthday!  Scout, you might remember, is Pippi's and Tink's big sister, and she turned 21 today.  Which makes me old.  Sigh.  Here is a picture of the 2 of us when I was about the same age she is now.

She was beautiful then and she's beautiful now, inside and out.
