I Wasn't Aware

NO I'M NOT YELLING AT YOU, IT'S JUST THAT TODAY IS INTERNATIONAL CAPS LOCK DAY AND THIS SEEMS LIKE THE BEST WAY TO CELEBRATE.

That's enough celebrating.  I can't type in all caps, it drives me crazy because it looks angry.  Yesterday was Reptile Awareness Day and I clearly wasn't aware.  Poor bearded dragons should have gotten to celebrate, but I was lacking in awareness.  I might have to give them meal worms today to make up for it.  In the meantime, let's look at some reptile shoes.

So first the bearded dragon gets split in 2 and then we step on its face?  Sooooo rude.

Oh. Dear. Gods.  Why do these exist?  And who buys them?

I need a palate cleanser after that last pair.  Baby turtles (turtle baby shoes?) are much better.

Poisonous frog rain boots!

Zazzle really does have everything.  Orange gecko high tops.  Black, orange, and white were my school colors, and are the school colors for all of the nieces (3 different schools in 3 different towns, all the same school colors). I should get these for the nieces.

OK, I know dragons aren't real, but these were too cute to pass up.  No one said reptile awareness day was only for real reptiles.

Enjoy your Saturday, whatever it might entail, just please don't type in all caps.

Niiiieeeeces!

A couple of days ago The Bean and Double simultaneously sent me pictures on Facebook messenger:

This was The Bean's choice.  I love that it's a cow patterned cowboy boot.

The rest are from Double A.  I love the colors.

This is really cute.  You know I love the blue flowers.

I like how details almost blend in somehow.  Notice the butterflies?  Double A loves butterflies!

I could do without that crazy, curved toe, but the colors and details are fun.

Perfect for the weekend!  I told her she should wear these to our family reunion on the island on the 4th.  With her swimming suit.  Yeah, I know I'm a mean auntie

Thank you, awesome nieces, for thinking of your auntie and sending me shoes!  You are the bestest and I love you to the pond and back!

Holy Saturday

You'll be shocked to know that we spent a good chunk of the day unpacking.  You'll be even more shocked to learn that I scraped the crap out of my arm.  I need a vacation from this move, please.

On a happier note, we spent the evening with some friends and got to meet their foster son, who is 2.  He's adorable and so much fun.  I had a great time playing with him.  I figured tonight's post should be about boys' toddler shoes:

I wonder why this one didn't come up on my search for puppy shoes?  The pink version did, but not the blue.  Rude.

These are so serious and grown up looking, and yet somehow re still fun and toddler-like.  Or maybe I'm just insanely tired.

Woody!  Every kid needs a pair.

Blue, but not my favorite of tonight's shoes.

Maybe I'm just in a brown and orange, old man shoe kind of mood?  Because I think these are adorable, too.

Between the unpacking (and helping the hubby haul the ginormous outdoor fireplace to the backyard) and playing with a very busy 2 year old, I am not really tired.  I think I shall go to bed.

Memory Lane: 2013. 2015.

3 Things:
  1. Happy little boys who have incredibly infectious grins and who share their toys with me.
  2. As the post title says, it is Holy Saturday.  I always feel like today should be overcast.  Maybe not as gloomy as I think Good Friday should be, but not as sunny as it was today.  Today was beautiful, which is good, despite my weird holy week weather feelings.  Holy Saturday is a day of waiting and watching. A day between.  A day to reflect on the mysteries and grace of God's promises.
  3. An evening with good friends and yummy food.

Boots

I love that Facebook shows me what I posted on this date in years past because I've been going back and looking at some of my old blog post. 3 years ago yesterday I did a post on the boots the preschoolers were wearing at chapel that day.  This is an aspect of my job that I really miss.  I loved those kiddos.  I loved watching them grow and learn and be silly.  Some days were frustrating, and as my depression got worse and my stress got higher there were days when I felt like a massive failure even with the kiddos.  They were still a bright spot in my life even then, though, and I miss having that contact.  So after looking through the post I decided to go find some more boots.  If I can't be around the kiddos at least I can look at some boots in their sizes.

These look so warm and snuggly, while also being froofy.

I love these, I think they are so cute and sweet.

I like these too, but like how the colors pop more from the black boots.

I like these and also find them hilarious.  Typical cowboy boot on the top, sparkly, stripey party on the bottom.  It's the boot version of a mullet?

Polka dot rain boots!

Speaking of warm and snuggly.  Of course, they'd be filthy in no time flat, but they're cute to look at in picture form.

I love lady bugs.  That is all.

Today was a good day.  We had some friends come over to watch a movie and then we went out for Chinese.  The movie and meal were fun, but the company was even better.  We haven't been doing much socializing lately, so it was nice to hang out and laugh and catch up.

Boots

Apparently today is National Day of the Cowboy or some such thing.  I have a healthy respect for (real) cowboys and cowgirls, but have never had a burning desire to be one.  I also have a VERY healthy respect for cowboy rear ends, but that's a post for another time.  And even though I don't want to be a cowgirl, or wear the boots, I still like to look at the fancy ones, so tonight's shoes will all be really girly cowgirl boots.

See?  Fancy!

Ooooh...purple for The Bean and Flower, butterflies for Double A, and turquoise for me!

Or, just blue for me.  Because I'm selfish like that.

And of course green for all of my green freaks out there.

More turquoise.  These (actually all of these) would look cute with a dress.

You know I love a red boot.

I think I'd like these better without the brown.  I like the yellow and pink.

So, happy cowboy day.  I hope you celebrated appropriately.
