Dogs and Cats

Today is Assistance Dog Day, International Cat Day, and Happy Odie Day, so today's shoe choices, at least to me, are obvious:

I just realized that the flip flops don't actually have Odie pictured.  Rude.  I always liked Garfield and Odie.  Poor Odie always gets picked on by Garfield, but he's such a sweet, dumb dog that I had to like him.  Which is kind of funny as one of the things I always disliked about dogs growing up was that they licked and Odie is a slobber machine.  Oh well.

In other news, now I have puppies and I actually like them.  I realize this is not news to those of you reading right now.

In other other news, once upon a time we had a cat.  The cat hated me.  The end.

In other other other news, it's Monday and I'm tired, and a little bit grumpy for reasons that may or may not be reasonable. I haven't decided yet.

Scotch & Soda

As I mentioned last year, July 27th is a rather eclectic day.  For instance, it's Take Your Pants For a Walk Day, which I failed at again this year as I'm wearing a dress. It's also Bagpipe Appreciation Day, which is awesome in my book.  As I did both of those last year, this year I'm going with National Scotch Day.  Actually, that goes with the other themes.  The bagpipe-Scotch connection is obvious, but I think having some Scotch first might make taking your pants for a walk seem like a totally logical thing to do.  It turns out there is a line of shoes called Scotch & Soda, so here are a few selection:

I don't particularly love any of them, but nor do I hate any of them.  I'll let you decide if you love, hate, or are indifferent.

Puppets on Facebook

Today we left the house at 6:30 am and got home at 8:30 pm.  It was a rather long day.  To break it up some (and because I apparently don't have enough to do *cough* sarcasm *cough*) I logged into various Facebook accounts and had the puppets and Pedro converse with each other.  Very few people noticed.  Or possibly they did, decided I've completely lost my mind, and backed away very slowly.  Here are some Muppet shoes to commemorate my craziness:

I and the PB would like all of them, please.  The puppets would too, but they don't have any feet...

Gotcha!

Today is Flower's Gotcha Day!  10 years ago the seester and brother-in-law were in China finally meeting the baby girl they had only seen in pictures.  She was 8 months old, beautiful, perfect, and already sassy.  It's hard to believe it's been a decade already, but our lives are definitely been brightened and made better by her presence.  To celebrate, here are purple flowers for Flower:

One pair (or half pair) for each year.  Happy Gotcha Day, Flower!  Love you to the moon and back!

A Day of Many Things

Today, as the title suggests, is one of many things. First, it's Sunday and I actually went to church.  A friend of mine is the Priest in Charge at the Episcopal church here that I occasionally go to, and she asked if I would help with Sunday School this year.  So I went to church (it was Youth Sunday where they talked about what they learned in Kids Kamp, and all those little voices in the service made me happy) and then had lunch with the priest and the current Sunday School teacher with whom I'll be working.  I figure it's one way to start to get back and involved in church since I've been doing a crap job of it on my own.

In other news, today is Yellow Pig Day, which apparently is a mathematician's holiday.  Check out the link if you want to know more.  In the meantime here are some yellow pig shoes:

Yellow pigs kind of scare me a little bit.

Pink pigs on yellow shoes are better.

Today is also World Emoji Day.  Although, like Social Media Day, isn't every day kind of emoji day?

I don't necessarily want to wear either pair, but they are fun.  I like the bright colors on the black pair better.

It's also National Ice Cream Day!  This is definitely a holiday I can get behind.  We had frozen yogurt this afternoon, so that kind of counts as celebrating?

I've posted ice cream shoes before, but I don't think I've posted these?  I'm fairly certain about the pink pair and I'm positive I haven't posted the pair with the chocolate sprinkles.  Because you know me and chocolate.

It's also Peach Ice Cream Day, which seemed odd to me until I realized that National Ice Cream Day is the 3rd Sunday in July and Peach Ice Cream day is actually July 17, so they just happened to coincide this year.

This is what came up when I did the search for peach ice cream shoes.  They're very pretty, but do they remind me of peach ice cream?  Not really.  Too orange.  Which means they are perfect for SKD!

AND, it's National Tattoo Day!  I had no idea there was a holiday.  Now I do.  I should have done something for my 4 tattoos to celebrate.  I wonder what that would be?  Extra lotion?  They're own social media pages?  The perfect way to celebrate would be to get a 5th one, but the hubby might divorce me...

These are both odd, but kind of interesting.  And WAY better than some of the crazy-@$$ pictures of shoes that people have tattooed on themselves. You know I love me some shoes, but it has never once crossed my mind to get a tattoo of them.

Dang, July 17th is a busy day.  Finally, it's Scout's birthday!  Scout, you might remember, is Pippi's and Tink's big sister, and she turned 21 today.  Which makes me old.  Sigh.  Here is a picture of the 2 of us when I was about the same age she is now.

She was beautiful then and she's beautiful now, inside and out.

Blueberries

Today is National Blueberry Muffin Day.  Which is convenient, since yesterday was Pick Blueberries Day, and you have to do something with all those blueberries you picked!  I love blueberries.  I eat them in my oatmeal in the morning and they are yummy in my tummy.  Maybe I should get some blueberry shoes to wear while eating my blueberry infused oatmeal?

Not these, obviously.  But for the PB when (s)he is able to eat blueberries.

OK, these are adorable and I actually kind of want a pair.

Apparently the PB could have more than one pair of blueberry shoes!

So pretty!  [insert usual snark about flip flops here]

Ohhhhh...Zazzle, you slay me.  I realize this is blueberry pie and today is blueberry muffin day, but these still made me laugh.  They're for Pi Day, of course!

You know it doesn't hurt any of these shoes that blueberries are blue.  And I love blue even more than I love blueberries.  Which is a lot.

Dang, now I want a blueberry muffin.  Or some pie.

Camera Ready

I woke up on the wrong side of the universe this morning.  I don't know what happened, but I was exhausted and sad and grumpy.  I posted on Facebook that I need a shirt with a grumpopotamus on it to wear on days like this so people know to steer clear.  My wonderful friends responded with virtual hugs and other means of cheering me up, which was lovely and very helpful.  Thank you, friends!

Speaking of friends, today is National Camera Day, so I'm dedicating this post to the Pinterest Friend since she has a photography business.  She's also one of the ones who helped cheer me up today, she's my awesome intern, and she's a superfantabulous friend.  So here are some shoes:

Don't you think she needs some for photo sessions?  She can have the tennies and I will wear the heels when I tag along as her assistant (you know, in the alternate universe world where we live in the same state).

Sunglasses

Today is Sunglasses Day!  Why?  Who cares?  I read a blog that claims that everyone looks hotter in sunglasses.  I'd that's mostly true.  Unless the sunglasses are awful and then the person looks kind of dorky, but generally speaking I would agree.  I wasn't sure what I would find in terms of sunglasses + shoes, but I did manage to find a few things:

I actually think these are both kind of cute.  They look like they're made out of material that doesn't breathe, but overall they're cute.  They're also Karl Lagerfeld and were applauded as being shoes "under $200."  Yeah, unless they're WAAAAY under that dollar figure these are definitely not that cute.  And/or I'm cheap.

Awww...baby sunglasses shoes.  OK, probably just glasses, but work with me, OK?  They're sparkly and cute and made me then search for Babies in Sunglasses, which you should definitely go peruse, because adorable.  I give you example A in the form of toddler Flower:

AND she was wearing adorable shoes. If I remember correctly she was about to go fishing with her dad when this picture was taken.  Most fashionable fisher-girl I've ever seen!

So, I implemented my new plan for getting my patootie (or patoosh as Laughter sometimes refers to it) out of my office chair today.  According to my phone (and I have no idea how accurate it is...one of these days I'd like to get a fitbit) I walked 7,655 steps, for a total of 3.69 miles, over the course of 72 minutes, and burned 264 calories.  Not the greatest results in the world, but still a million times better than what I've been doing most days of late.  Now I just have to keep it up.  I also drank over a gallon of water today, which is good as it was 8 million degrees.  I'm pretty much over summer already and it's not even July yet.  Sigh.
