Love is Love is Love

I was reminded this week that I have amazing friends and family.  You'd think I would know this by now, but a little reminder never hurts.  First, a friend from seminary was in town from Washington DC and she stayed with the hubby and me on Thursday night.  It was sooooo good to see her and hang out.  We had dinner with the BSF Thursday night and it was really great to have some good, quality girl time.  I definitely needed it.  There were a bunch of other reminders of why my friends are awesome these past couple of days, but I'm not going to go into the details in this post. Suffice it to say that I have felt surrounded by love.  I hope I can pay that love forward, backward, sideways, and interdimensionally in thanks.  To celebrate, tonight's shoes are love themed.

I've posted these before, but they are Beatles shoes that say All You Need is Love a million times.  No, really, it's a million, I counted.  And I'll probably post them a million times more.  Also, I love the colors.

I don't like this as well as the first pair, but I still love the colors, and it looks like a DIY project, so I appreciate the effort.

Yes, I know this is the same as the first pair, but it's for a TODDLER.  Someone please get me a toddler so s/he can have these shoes!

I know these last two are kind of tiny and hard to see, but they are Toms, and all covered in hearts, and I like the colors on both.

It's true, all you need is love, and I am grateful and blessed to have been showered in love t his week.  Thank you, my friends.

Sunday School

The Hubby and I have been crazy busy at the office since I got back from Montana.  Which is good, but as we don't currently have internet at home, and I'm busy at the office, I haven't been posting much this year so far.  Oh well, busy at work is good, hopefully it will turn into lots of good stuff.  Right now I'm hanging out at Starbucks for a bit before going home.  I taught Sunday School this morning.  I'm always a bit awkward at church as it is, given everything from the past few years, but this morning was extra-special-awkward because I set the alarm off.  I  got to church, and went into the main building to get the key for the classroom, which is in an annex.  I went in and thought I heard a car alarm go off, but didn't think much of it.  A few minutes later the pastor's husband came to drop their daughter off for Sunday School and told me I'd set the alarm off.  All I could do was stare blankly and say, "um...what alarm?"  This is what happens when you spend 7 weeks in Montana.  They've had problems with break-ins in that building before, and apparently had another incident right before Christmas, hence the alarm.  It was an innocent mistake, but I still felt like a dork, especially when it got brought up in announcements during the service (just in passing, not in an accusatory way, but still, most people at this church don't even know me, now they just know me as the moron who doesn't know about the alarm).  Sigh.  I know it's not that big of a deal, but I was feeling weird already this morning and then the universe had to take this opportunity to remind me that I'm so very not perfect.  I need to look at shoes.

I typed in "Sunday School shoes" and for some reason saddle shoes were quite prevalent.  I'm not entirely sure why, but they make me smile, especially the polka dot ones.

Awww...this is more what I was picturing.

These are pretty much what I wore as a child, either in white or black.  I would have probably been wearing knee highs with them, though.

Maybe not this particular pair, but this is closer to what I might wear to Sunday School now.  Or at least several years ago.  I don't wear heels much anymore, and my shoes this morning were totally boring.

I like this, but wish it didn't have the lace panel.  I love the color, though, and definitely needed some blue to cheer me up.

I'm off to do laundry (woohoo!).  I hope your morning was less breaking-and-entering-y than mine...

Cookies

I was very Christmas-y today.  This morning I watched Santa Claus is Coming to Town while crocheting Laughter's Christmas present.  This evening I decorated Mom and Dad's big tree in the living room.  In between I spent the afternoon in the kitchen making Mocha Truffles, Mocha Pecan Balls, Coconut Pecan Praline Cookies, and Popcorn Balls.  I was going to do more but then it was time to work on getting dinner ready.  I think I'll do a couple of more kinds of cookies/candy tomorrow.  I'm in a groove, apparently.  Tonight's shoes are Christmas cookie themed to keep the groove going:

Did you really need the same shoe in 2 different colors?  Well no, but clearly yes.

These are almost too pretty to eat.  And yet I would still eat them.  Because I am rude like that.

These just make me smile.

As do these!  I totally need a pair for when I bake Christmas cookies.

I've posted cookies made with this cookie cutter before, but I appreciate that someone made them into Christmas shoes.  Very festive.

I think I will now go read while gazing at the Christmas tree.  Yeah, it's a rough life...

Trolls

This weekend the movie was Trolls.  I worked concessions for The Bean Friday night and yesterday afternoon since she was at a sleepover and then Mom asked me to work for her tonight.  I thought it was cute.  There are many ways I picture trolls, depending on the context.  For these trolls the picture in my head from childhood is this:

I can never decide if they're ugly or cute or some combination thereof. I actually think it's supposed to be the combination.

This is what they look like in the new movie.  Much cuter, still kind of weird.  So tonight's shoes are troll shoes, of course:

This one looks more like the old school trolls.  I like the colors.

Gaaah...troll butt!

So much pink.  Which actually works for the movie and that character, who is always talking about rainbows and cupcakes.

This guy is grumpy through most of the movie.  Poor boys get the grumpy guy because he's blue.  Rude.

Heehee.  That hair is hilarious and I think it would tickle.

These are adorably ugly.  I don't think they PB needs these.

There you go. Trolls shoes.  I'm sure your life has been enriched.

Puppets on Facebook

Today we left the house at 6:30 am and got home at 8:30 pm.  It was a rather long day.  To break it up some (and because I apparently don't have enough to do *cough* sarcasm *cough*) I logged into various Facebook accounts and had the puppets and Pedro converse with each other.  Very few people noticed.  Or possibly they did, decided I've completely lost my mind, and backed away very slowly.  Here are some Muppet shoes to commemorate my craziness:

I and the PB would like all of them, please.  The puppets would too, but they don't have any feet...

Continued

I have no idea where today went, but it whooshed by at a ridiculous speed.  So now it's late and I'm going to do a quick post before I go to bed.  I recently finished a blankie, shoes, and a hat for a friend of ours who is having a baby in October:

Pedro, as always, was my very helpful model for the hat.  I love this yarn, it's really soft and nice.  The fact that it's several shades of blue doesn't hurt, either.  Since I did little girl shoes last night, I thought I'd do little boy shoes tonight.  Plus, I made some little boy shoes, so there is a double tie-in.

For some reason I had trouble finding shoes I liked tonight.  I really like all of these (especially the first 2), but I was hoping for a little more variety.   Although I do have to say that the caterpillar (at least I think it's a caterpillar?) croc totally cracks me up.  Or maybe it crocks me up.  Ha!  Yes, fine, I'm going to bed.

Inner Child

I'm taking a quick bread from podcast prep (I am soooo very behind) to write a quick post.  The world continues to be a $h!+ storm of depressing news and violence, and I am so tired of the people who polarize around these issues instead of mourning the loss of life and looking for ways to be voices of love and light in the world.  Thank goodness I also have friends who are eloquent and willing to speak their truths in ways that are loving and respectful because I spend a lot of time on Social Media these days for the office and it's all overwhelming.  So.  Today is Be a Kid Again Day, which I think sounds fabulous.  We should all try to find out inner child because children aren't born racist or hateful or wanting to polarize every issue, we have to teach them how to do those things.  Sigh.  So maybe we all need to access our inner children and get back to that place where people are people and we find them fascinating and wonderful instead of different and scary.  Or maybe we should just give ourselves a  time out and look at kid shoes:

Look at how cute these are!  I love that pink is represented, but so are lots of other colors.  My inner girl child likes more options than just pink.

Like red and white and polka dots!  Not that you'd see the polka dots once you put your feet in.

See?  Pink is OK, but I love the sparkly stripey rainbowy parts best.

Yellow is always a good choice for Easter.  Or tiara tea parties.  Or Tuesday.

Plus you need tennies for climbing trees and stuff.

Adorbs.

Both this and the last one are perfect for if you want to be girly AND climb trees and stuff.

For my green peeps.  Your inner children need shoes too.  Alright, back to work and then off to bed.

Yo-Yos

It's Yo-Yo Day! I can't yo-yo worth crap, but I think they're fun and I still try to at least be able to do some basics whenever I encounter one out in the wild.  Here are some yo-yo shoes:

I didn't find any shoes with actual yo-yos on them, so all of today's shoes have yo-yo in their title.  You know I love these because of the straps and the colors.

And I love these!  They're so bright and silly and fun.

These last 3 are from a site called Yoyo Footwear.  I think this one is adorable.

Oooh...plaid!

Aaah...turquoise!

I think I am in favor of yo-yo shoes.  So cute!

So, we're still at the office.  I'm sure you aren't surprised.  We're actually waiting on an intern to finish his podcast for the week, so I don't know exactly when we'll be done.  I have plenty to do, though, so I'll keep busy.  I've been dealing with a sore throat and muscle aches which sucks, but oh well.  Maybe I'll get to go home and go to bed soon.
