Random Puppy Facts

I've mentioned before how I've never really liked dogs.  I told the hubby I absolutely did NOT want a dog, and if we ever somehow ended up with one it would be an outside dog.  Yeah, now I have two of the creatures that I'm madly in love with and who I let sleep in our bed.  Since I am clearly insane, I may as well embrace it and write a(nother) post about them.

Chalupa is a kisser.  The instant he gets close to either of us he licks our face, with emphasis on inside of our noses and mouths.  It's gross, and his aim is uncanny.  Tallulah will occasionally lick, but it's pretty rare.  Instead, she likes to put her face right up to mine and smell my breath.  This is weird.  And yet it's still better than a dog tongue in my mouth or nose.

Chalupa is extremely needy.  He's like a toddler with separation anxiety and follows me everywhere.  If I'm sitting he's sleeping next to me or on my lap.  If he can get in he lays on the bathmat while I go to the bathroom.  I have to be careful while walking because he's constantly underfoot.  Tallulah is less needy.  But they are completely opposite when we let them sleep with us.  Tallulah is a total spooner and has to be touching one of us, while Chalupa immediately heads to the bottom of the bed to be by himself.

Both puppies would rather have carrots than dog treats.

Now you'd probably think I'd be moving on to something related to puppies and shoes, right?  Nope.  Since random is in the title, I'm going to continue with that theme and move on to....rain boots!  Besides the hubby's injuries and the seester's birthday, Thursday also brought us RAIN!!!  It didn't last all day, but it was sooooo nice to finally give some moisture.    That night the Pinterest Friend sent me these two pictures:

These are from her sister's Instagram account.  She was channeling her inner child and enjoying the rain.  How cute are her rain boots?  So let's look at some more rain boots and puddles.

I totally want it to rain again so I can play in the puddles!  Of course, first I'd have to buy some rain boots.  Or go out and play in regular shoes, which would be bad.

I actually thought that first picture was her boots in leaves, so I found a couple of those.  It's actually bark, but I already found the pictures.  Plus these rain boots have umbrellas on them so they go with the puddle theme!

And these have owls on them, which are the PF's favorite.  I had to include them.

So puppies and rain and boots and puddles.  Random?  Yes.  But it's a random kind of day.

Meeses

This afternoon as I was taking out the garbage Talullah came prancing up to me with a dead mouse in her mouth.  She was soooo proud of herself.  I don't know if she killed it or just found it, but she had definitely claimed it.  Chalupa tried to take it from her a couple of times and she wasn't having any of it.  It was gross.  Poor little dead mouse.  I don't hate mice, but I don't love them either.  I don't need my dogs wandering around chewing on them, either.  I got her to drop it, locked them both in the house and used the dustpan to scoop the poor thing up and throw it in the outside garbage.  I'm sure you've already guessed that we're going with mice shoes tonight.  I just need some cuteness to help balance out the deadness of earlier.

See?  Cute.  Not dead.  Although the puppies would be just as happy to chew on these, too.

I love these.  The colors are fun.

Baby mices!  Cute booties, but also adorable knees!

Awwww...the baby can move up to big girl mouse shoes.

Heehee.  These crack me up.

These are hysterical.  I totally want to make a pair.  I would never actually wear them, unless there was a really specific event, but I think they would be fun and hilarious to make them.

There.  I feel better.

Sadness

We had Chalupa and Tallulah neutered and spayed today.  They also got micro-chipped, got rabies shots, and each had a couple of teeth pulled.  Gotta love the SPCA, but now I have some saaaaad puppies wearing cones of shame.  Talullah is too miserable to even care about hers.  Chalupa is feeling a lot better, so he's more adventurous and keeps running into things with his cone.  Maybe tomorrow it will be cute and funny but tonight I am just too sad.  Tallulah is just so miserable.  She just whimpers and looks at me like, "WTF, mom?  Why do you hate me?"  I know she'll get better, but I can't deal with their pain.  I sat on the floor with Tallulah earlier tonight and cried with her.  And how I'm going to keep them separated for 7-10 days is beyond me.  Until today they had never been apart for more than 5 or 10 minutes since birth.  Tallulah is sleeping with us right now and Chalupa, instead of sleeping, was hyper and acting crazy so I put him in the other room.  He started scratching at our door.  Then he would run outside and scratch at the sliding door to our room.   He just kept repeating the pattern until I couldn't take it anymore and went out to sit with him.  Normally I would just chalk it up to bratty behavior, but tonight it just made me sad.  Thankfully he finally calmed down and now he is in bed with us too.  Yes, they are getting spoiled right now.  This is one of the reasons I have trouble being a pastor, too.  I can't seem to separate from the pain of others.  I soak it up like a sponge.  I'm starting to wonder if I shouldn't have children, it might just kill me.  I am a sad mama tonight who needs these shoes:

You know how I feel about matching my shoes to the occasion.  Poor, sad, puppy shoes.

I couldn't do more sad shoes, though, so I went with 101 Dalmatian shoes to cheer myself up.  I really hope this is a pair and not one shoe from each pair, because I love them mismatched like this.

I love these, too.  Happy puppies!

Happy baby shoes!

Happy puppy slippers!

Definitely Cruella shoes.  Of course, for her they would have to be made of actual Dalmatian hide and that just goes back to sad, so let's not think about that.

Why is there only one?  Is the other one the same, or different?  Why must they leave me in suspense?!

OK, I feel a little better.  Plus, I've had Dalmatian Plantation running through my head this whole time, so it's harder to be sad while singing.

Rude

The seester and I were recently having a conversation about Strawberry Shortcake recently.  The cartoon, not the dessert, although yum to that.  What?  It's a perfectly normal conversation for 2 grown women to have.  Shut up.  Anyway, it got me thinking about shoes, so I went to look.

This is pretty much what I expected to find:  cute, girly, lots of pink.

I like these because the green stripes break up the pink a little.  There were lots more like these out there.  Which is fine.  But what about the other characters?

For instance, my favorite character as a kid was Orange Blossom.  In fact, I had this very toy.  Her butterfly's  name is Marmalade.  I haven't seen Orange Blossom in a long time, but Marmalade surfaces at Mom's house every once in awhile.

This is Orange Blossom in her modern incarnation.  I kind of like old school better since it's nostalgic, but this girl could rock a pair of shoes, don't you think?  And there are lots of other characters.  Why don't they get their own shoes?  Why does Strawberry Shortcake get all of the attention?  Where are my damn Orange Blossom shoes???  Ahem.  I'm better now.  Maybe they are out there and I just couldn't find them, but I looked in as many ways and places as I could think of.  Sigh.

Poor Orange Blossom.  I will dedicate these cool orange shoes in her honor.

PS--on a completely unrelated note, I just told Tallulah the puppy that she needed to rethink her life choices as she was attempting to lick something disgusting off the garbage can. That's proper dog training etiquette, right?

Day in Shoes

This morning the hubby and I went to the gym.  We lifted weights (legs today) and I started running again.  I can already tell my muscles are going to be very unhappy tomorrow.  And I totally want these shoes.

We ran errands.  Which requires comfy shoes in my book.  One of the errands was to Target, hence the red.

We played with puppies.  The hubby is teaching them to fetch.  Chalupah loves it.  Talullah is above such nonsense.  I'm trying to use logic to convince them to stop pooping in the house.  Puppy logic is not like our earth logic.

I did a little reading.  Not this book, but look at all those fun shoes.  Clearly I need to read this book.

I helped the hubby fill out some forms.  I hate forms.  After awhile they start looking like gobblydegook.

Sleepy now.  Good night.

Puppies

So...we have puppies.  Our neighbors across the street have 2 litters of purebred Chihuahua puppies, and we got talked into taking 2 of the 6 week olds. OK, it wasn't hard to talk the hubby as he was totally on board.  I'm getting used to the idea.  We got 2 because "they need to have buddies." They are very sweet so far, and did much better last night than we expected.  Here are a few things I've learned so far:  ear plugs do NOT block out puppy whines in the middle of the night.  Thankfully the hubby got up with them a few times when they whined, and the rest of the time they actually slept, which was nice.

The next thing I learned is about poop.  If you don't want to read about poop, you should skip this paragraph all together.  Chihuahua poop is small, but dear god is it smelly.  We put them in their bed last night (just a tote until we could get them a kennel) and one of them pooped.  And then of course they both had to roll in it.  No big deal, right?  They're little, their poop is little, it shouldn't be a big deal.  I have no problem with baby poop, but this made me gag.  I thought I was going to throw up right then and there.  Later, when I took the recycling out, I opened the can and about got bowled over.  The hubby had thrown one of the earlier accidents in the recycling, and it had only intensified in there.  It was like something had died, come back to life, rolled in poop, died again, and decomposed in the can.  I really wish my aunt was here so I could have told her to come here and smell it (family joke).  Thus endeth the poop paragraph.

So, with no further ado...meet Talullah Cooper and Chalupa Batman.  Chalupa was named by the hubby.  He stole it from a show called The League.  It's about fantasy football, and I think there was a bet where the guy who won got to name the baby of the only woman in the league.  He named the baby Chalupa Batman.  Hey, at least the hubby got it out of his system before we had children.

I named mine Talullah Cooper.  In the first hour after we got her she tried to eat:  Grass, a rock, 2 leaves, a strap, and one of the hubby's shoes.  I started calling her Trash Compactor, so then decided her real name needed to have the same initials.  Talullah is from a book I read as a kid, and Cooper is from Laughter's best friend.  I figure if she can be a little girl named Cooper, I could name my little girl puppy Cooper, since I like how it flows.

Oh my gosh.  These do not need to exist.  It's bad enough that there are outfits FOR the dogs, there definitely don't need to be shoes for the ownners with pictures of the dogs.  I will not be wearing these.

These are cuter.  I could maybe see a little girl liking these and wanting to wear them.  I can appreciate they whimsy of these better than the first pair.

Same with these.  I actually think these are really cute, and the puppies are very sweet.

I still can't with these.

Every time I say the word puppies, I keep thinking about the movie 101 Dalmations, where the maid discovers that the puppies are gone and starts yelling .  Go to 3:26 to see how I must now refer to my pets.
