I got to be home to celebrate Flower's birthday today, which rarely happens. Actually, she doesn't turn 9 until Tuesday, but her family party was this afternoon. I always knew the kid was awesome, but she chose German Chocolate Cake, which is also my favorite, so she just confirmed her awesomeness. We're cake twins. She got exactly what she wanted for her birthday: a bow and arrow and slippers. So, in honor of my Flower, who loooooves purple, please enjoy these purple flower shoes:
I pretty much love all of them. But now I'm going to bed, because even though my body should still be on California time which is an hour earlier, apparently flying and partying took a lot out of me.
PS--It's 17 degrees right now and it's awesome. I'm pretty much the only one who thinks so.
I'm currently sitting in the Salt Lake airport waiting for my next flight. I started the day in Sacramento and went to LA. From there to SLC, and from here to Montana! It's a long day and a dumb route, but the end result is totally worth it. I have a 3 1/2 hour layover so I'm enjoying some people watching. I'm also eating yogurt while sitting outside McDonald's, so I feel smug about my eating habits, but I really want some French fries. Obviously today our theme will be airplane shoes.
The PB needs these. I want a matching pair.
I think I need plane shoes for the next time I fly. I wonder if anyone would notice?
Also adorable.
These are hilarious. I never wear heels when I fly, but if I did they would be these.
Or I could run around the airport in plane slippers!
In approximately 6 hours I will be hugging the seester and the nieces!
Today is the hubby's 45th birthday. Last year's post was about shoes and food, this year I'm going with sports and shoes. Hubby grew up in Ohio, and I have learned more than I ever thought I wanted to know about the Ohio-Michigan rivalry.
There are a lot of Ohio fans at St. Someone's and the whole lot of them are obsessively crazy. (BTW...the tennies are cuz the hubby doesn't wear heels. The heels are for me, obviously)
Here's the thing. The hubby is from Ohio, but he's a Michigan fan. He's a traitor! His family loves to call him when Michigan loses so they can rub it in.
He didn't go to either school, though. He played football for The University of Akron. Did you know that their team is The Zips, after the zipper factory? And yet, their mascot is a kangaroo. I am befuddled. But! Today is also Pedro's birthday! Here he is supporting dad's school.
I've already mentioned the hubby's love of The Cowboys. They're actually doing relatively well this year, and I'm fairly horrified that I know this.
Not Pedro, though. He loves watching football with Dad.
His favorite basketball team is the LA Lakers. The heels above were listed as wedding shoes. That's a major fan right there.
We even found Pedro a basketball outfit. It really is purple, even though it looks blue here.
And finally, the favorite baseball team is The Yankees. He has had these favorites since he was a little boy. I *think* he watched them all win their respective series one year and has loved them ever since. I might be remembering that incorrectly. I could look it up and see if that happened in a year in the 70s, but I'm lazy and I'd rather just snuggle this puppy curled up by my hip.
Pedro doesn't have a Yankees outfit yet. We need to get him one. And then we might have to get him his own chest of drawers to hold all of his clothes...
I had the permanent crown put on today. Holy buckets does my mouth hurt. It had FINALLY started to ease off from the temporary crown and now it's back to fairly awful. I'm really quite tired of my mouth aching, and it has, off and on (more on) since I got the wisdom teeth pulled. Thank goodness my next appointment isn't until February. In order to momentarily take my mind off my stupid mouth, I'm taking some more inspiration from the Pinterest Friend.
This was in the latest batch she sent me recently. How cozy does this kitten look?
As I've mentioned before, I'm crazy allergic to cats, but I think kittens are adorable. So what could be better than adorable kittens in shoes? Even if these shoes are less than cute.
No idea what this cat is really thinking, but I like to pretend it just got caught playing with mom's shoes.
Snuggles!
It's like accumulated cuteness.
Pensive kitten. Love its little chin on its paw.
See? Way better than stupid mouth pain. And these cats don't make me sneeze and wheeze or make my eyes itch.
I think the Pinterest Friend is cold up there in Idaho with the crazy weather that's coming from that storm in Alaska. Either that or she has decided to torment me with adorable, cozy, crocheted baby shoes.
See? Adorable. Cozy. Crocheted. These would make for happy and warm little baby toes.
OK, these are actually knitted. Whatever. Still cozy. Still cute.
I love this picture. It looks like the little girl is dancing. Or maybe thinking about sliding across the floor in those fun socks/slippers.
They're boots! Wouldn't be much good in actual snow, but that's not the point, right?
These aren't baby slippers. Either that or this baby has ginormous ankles. How fun are these? Mom, the Seester, Double A, and SKD all need a pair.
So, why are these tormenting me? They aren't really, I just like to be melodramatic. For some reason while the hubby and I were on speaker phone with the Seester tonight I felt compelled to wail, "I'm barren!" I don't even remember why, like I said, I just like to be melodramatic. But then the PF sent me a bunch of cute baby shoes, so it's obvious that she's mocking my barrenness right?
PS...You know I love you, PI. I don't really think you're tormenting me. Get some layers, some good boots, definitely some cozy awesome socks, and stay warm!
Yep. It's that time of year when I break the commandments against coveting even more than I normally do. I love love love boots, and I see them everywhere right now. So I covet. It doesn't matter that I own multiple pairs of boots that I love. I want more. I want them all. Well, mostly. I'm not so sure about the over the knee trend, and there are a few other styles that I'm not overly fond of, but for the most part I covet.
You might be shocked, but I'm totally loving the flatter boots this year. I keep seeing adorable riding boots like these and wanting them.
Once again. Flat. Riding boot. Buckles. Yes, please.
OK, a little heel. I haven't totally gone away from a love of heels. I love the 2 tone on these.
This is an example of the over the knee style. You can't really tell in this picture, but those heels are HIGH. From some of the other angles I was pretty sure I would break my neck trying to wear these.
See? Another heel. These are simple and classy and why why why can't I win the lottery and just buy boots?
Burgundy!
Also over the knee. But I might forgive them as they are really cute.
This color is called Pinot Noir. Seems appropriate considering I live in wine country.
Oh my goodness. This post could have gone on for miles, but I decided to stop. This way I can do more boot posts with all those other, covetable boots out there! Now, if you'll excuse me I have some lottery tickets to purchase. And by purchase I mean go to bed and dream about winning the lottery and buying boots.
Whew, it's been a crazy week. The accident happened on Tuesday. Wednesday was pretty much taken up dealing with the insurance company, the tow truck, the rental car place, etc. Blah. The insurance totaled my car, which wasn't much of a surprise, but it did make me sad. My little Hermione has been good to me. We drove from Montana to Pennsylvania and back for internship, from Montana to Berkeley and back for my last semester of seminary, and lots of other road trips. Thursday was more car related stuff and errands for the hubby's newest project. Friday we spent 3 1/2 hours at The Home Depot buying and hauling stuff for said project. Saturday we poured concrete. 10 hours, 57 bags of concrete, and 4 trips to Home Depot later, we had the slab done. Sunday the hubby started building while I ran some errands and made more trips to Lowe's and Home Depot. Finally, today, we bought a new (to us) car and did all the "fun" stuff like going to the DMV. I'm tired, y'all.
More on the car in a later post. Since I'm tired, I'm going to do a light and fluffy post. I mentioned decorating the mantel awhile back. It's a long-ish story, but I've acquired quite the collection of rubber duckies, including ones for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Here are the Halloween and Thanksgiving ones:
Yeah, I know they're totally silly, but they make me smile, and they look cute around the house during the holidays. You know I went looking for rubber ducky shoes, right?
So bright and fun and cheerful.
Man these are bright. They're almost emergency vehicle yellow. Add the pink in there and these could stop traffic. Maybe not in a good way.
The slippers are adorable, but the chubby legs are even cuter.
This looks like either a claw machine or a ball pit.
Oh dear. Poor duckies with the crazy eyes.
PB needs these, of course.
Ahhhh...that was helpful. I'm still tired, but this was so much more enjoyable than all the other stuff I've been doing for most of the week. Also, I'm now singing this in my head:
