Mismatched

Oh my goodness, today was National Two Different Colored Shoes Day and I didn't even know it!  Not that I could have celebrated as I am still in Montana and don't have many shoe options.  The thing with wearing 2 different shoes is that you have to make sure they have the same heel height so you don't tip over. You may remember I ran errands in mismatched shoes once, but it was by accident and not on the national day of celebration:

They're both Clarks and basically the same shoe, so I didn't notice I was wearing 2 different shoes until I got home.  Eye roll.  Let's look at shoes that were mismatched on purpose.

Blue!  I approve.

Awww.  Kids can get away with this look because people will just assume they dressed themselves and were being stubborn and/or quirky.  Adults just get looked at like they're having a senior moment.

Not my favorite combination, although I like both shoes individually.  And I think they have different heel heights, so this woman better not stand up and try to walk.

I actually kind of like this whole combination, pants, mismatched shoes, and all.

Mismatched but opposites!

I would wear this combination for Easter.

Today is my last full day in MT for this vacation.  Sigh.  I hate leaving.  I miss the hubby, but I hate leaving the babies.  I need to learn to teleport.

Weekend

Those of you on Facebook know that I spent part of my Saturday afternoon voluntarily watching football.  It was on ESPN, which rarely happens for my Alma Mater, and I asked the hubby to flip to it just so I could check the score.  Then I got sucked in.  To football.  Which I hate.  I blame the hubby.  Although even I have to admit that it was a really good game, and UM won by scoring a touchdown with 6 seconds left.  I still can't believe I watched it, though, and couldn't believe it when I was sitting there watching it.  I did look at shoes while watching, so maybe I'm not a completely lost cause.  My college's colors are maroon and silver or gray, so here are some school spirited shoes:

We start with shoes I would actually wear to a game.  Because crazy I might be, but I'm not crazy enough to wear heels to a football game.  Especially in Montana where I'm likely to get frostbite.  I like the first one best.

It's hard to find cute shoes with both colors.  I like the accent details here with a little bit of the silver.

I love these. A lot.

I couldn't find many options where the silver was the dominant color, which is OK, because I think I like it better as the accent color.

Well this is...sparkly.  I should like it, it's a t-strap, but I don't know.  Maybe it's cuter on.

Ooooh...shiny.

Yesterday was a fun day because I got to see my auntie for the first time in 2 years.  She is house-sitting for a friend in Sonoma, so I drove there to see her and the 2 friends who came with her.  It was awesome to get to hang out, and she looks amazing.  We went thrift store shopping and I found the cutest dress, so that was fun.  I also found some really cute brown Clarks, but they were too big.  Sadness.  Oh, speaking of Clarks, I'm pretty sure I ran errands like this on Saturday:

This is what happens when I like a shoe so much I buy it in multiple colors.

In other news, today is Laughter's 5th birthday! She is such a smart, beautiful, funny little drama queen.  Don't try to get any of her bacon, though, because she will NOT share.  Here are some bacon shoes just for her (and I know these are for a baby and not a 5 year old, but some of the bacon shoes are really creepy):

Now that we're all caught up on the weekend, I'll tell you what else I've been thinking about.   I might take a break from posting.  I haven't been posting regularly anyway, first because we've been so busy with the new office, but also because I'm feeling so blah, I'm not inspired, and I don't want to keep posting depressing stuff.  Yesterday was awesome, I loved seeing my aunt, but I am in such a pit of depression right now that I wasn't fully present in the moment.  I couldn't get out of my own head and I was on the verge of tears for most of the day.  The hubby and I have had some major bumps in the road the past few weeks (hell, for our entire marriage if we're honest), I think I've ruined a relationship with someone I really care about, I feel like I'm failing at everything, and I can't keep dumping it here.  So I might post occasionally when I have the time and inclination, but I don't think it will be on a regular basis for awhile.  Not even shoes can pull me out of this pit of despair.

3rd Anniversary Adventures

Yesterday was the hubby's and my 3rd anniversary (5th anniversary of our first date).  Traditionally, the first anniversary is paper, the second anniversary is cotton, and the 3rd anniversary is leather.  Not to say I can't do it going forward, but I totally dropped the ball with the first theme of paper, so I haven't done traditionally themed gifts for our anniversaries.  I didn't do a themed gift again this year, but at least I can do a themed post?

Before we get to the leather shoes, though, yesterday was also quite the day because it's the day our new employees started (apparently we like to keep our anniversaries simple).  OK.  The new adventure.  Some of you know, and some of you don't, so I suppose it's time to stop alluding to it and actually tell you what's going on.  The hubby's job of the last year-and-a-half was challenging for many reasons; too many to go into in this post. In June, though, the weirdness became even weirder:  the local office in San Francisco started acting like they wanted to get rid of him, but the corporate office wanted to promote him.  In fact, they set up a couple of options for him, and it looked like things were going to work out, so the hubby turned down 2 other opportunities with other companies.  But then the lovely VP of the SF office sabotaged 3 separate attempts by corporate, and the hubby decided enough was enough and it was time to head out on his own.  Starting in June we began the process of starting a new business.  We got the office the first part of August and started getting everything set up, and new employees started yesterday (which is another story of insanity...ask me in person some time and I'll share that drama).  So I'm working in an office again.  I have no idea what my title is, though.  I'm the receptionist/gopher/office manager/janitor/keeper-of-Quickbooks, and whatever else each day might bring.  I've also lost the ability to walk in heels, a skill I must get back since I now have a place to wear them again!

Speaking of heels, let's move on to the shoe portion of today's post.

And of course they're going to be blue leather since it's my favorite color and our wedding color.  I'm not terribly fond of the shape of this just sitting there, but I know it would look cute under jeans.

Better shape, and would also look cute with jeans.  Or possibly a long dress.  But not a short one.

These are neither cute nor a good shape.  Maybe they look better on, and I'm sure there are women who could rock the style, it's just not a style I'm terribly fond of.

Does patent leather count?  It's my blog, so I say it does.  I love this!  So shiny and blue-y and Mary Jane-y!

Love this, too.  Probably a better heel height for the office, also, as opposed to the 5 inchers I'm wearing today.

I have these in black!  They are soooo comfortable.

I know it's not shoes, BUT, I told the hubby that when we make our millions :-) from this new adventure that we need to buy each other leather jackets, and I want this one.

Black and More Black

I had a friend comment on yesterday's that she wasn't fond of any of the shoes, probably because none of them were black, but maybe black flowers would be weird?  It turns out black flowers, when it comes to shoes, aren't as weird as you might think:

It turns out I actually own a pair of sandals with black flowers.  They are Clarks and they are mostly comfy, except for that damn thing between the toes.

This one isn't my favorite, but it's not the worst shoe ever.

Better, but maybe because I like a strappier shoe.

Very cute!  They remind me of this pair that I bought last summer.

These are a little weird, but mostly cute.  I can't tell if they're sparkly or not.

Not sparkly.  Less weird.

Not sparkly.  Are metal flowers weirder than black flowers?

Did you notice that all of these shoes have that damn thing between the toes?  What's up with black flower sandals that they seem to have to have the thing between the toes?

Oh well.  See, JG?  Black flower shoes!  BUT, we need to get  you some shoes with COLOR.  Your feet make me sad.  Although you and the hubby would get along swimmingly with your preference for no color.  I still love you, though, because you are quite awesome, footwear notwithstanding.

Happy Easter!

Christ is risen!  Christ is risen indeed!  Alleluia!  How was your Easter?  Mine was quite nice, actually.  I went to church!  Then I came home and we talked to the hubby's family for awhile after which I had a lovely Easter nap.  While I was sleeping the hubby made whatever-is-in-the-kitchen pizza.  It was quite yummy.  Now we are hanging out with the puppies.  Time for Easter shoes!

First, the calendar.  This shoe is awesome!  I would totally wear this for Easter.

Ohhhhh, Irregular Choice.  Always crazy.

I don't need toe shoes, but these are adorable. I hope they are part of some fab Easter ballet.

DIY Easter shoes!  Next year we should all make a pair.

Babies and bunnies.  Always a good choice.

How fun are these?  So bright and cheerful.

Also bright and cheerful, but in a totally different way.  I love these.

What's up with me and pink lately?  These are super fun.  I'm also really into wedges right now.  Look at all the fun colors in these heels.

These are the shoes I wore this morning.  Nothing new this year, but these are still one of my favorite pairs.  And see?  Wedges again.

These are a pair of Clarks that I own.  I wore them a couple of weeks ago when I went to a training, and a friend of mine from seminary said she had the same shoes.  I went to her church this morning and she was wearing these exact shoes!  It was cool, but maybe you had to be there.

Hope you had a fabulous Easter!  Χριστός ἀνέστη! (Christos Anesti! (Christ is Risen in Greek)).

Clarks

Do you ever have those days where you feel like you were busy all day, but that nothing got done?  That was me today.  I know stuff got done, but I guess it feels like I didn't really make much of a dent in the to-do list.  Stupid list.  If only I could assign the puppies jobs and have them help me.  Unfortunately, they are still not on the best behavior.  I finally got tired of yelling at them today and banished them outside for the afternoon.

As I've mentioned before, I haven't been wearing heels much since I went on leave.  Since my days lately involve that to-do list and lots of errands, I have mostly been wearing practical shoes that give me really good support.  I wear my same few pairs of sandals almost all of the time, 2 of which are my Clarks Bendables.  I'm wearing the red pair today, so thought I'd go searching and see what else was out there:

I love the colors on these.  I know they should remind me of Fall, probably, but they for some reason still remind me of summer.

And we all know I love a red shoe.  The hubby would say these are too similar to the ones I already have:

And they are, but I still like both pairs.  You've actually seen these before, since I bought them last summer at the outlet mall.  They are very comfy.  And they don't make my feet smell, which is always a bonus of oft-worn summer sandals.

I think these are black, but in some lights they look blue, purple, or brown.  I'd take them in any or all of those colors.

This is the pair I just bought a month or so ago (again at the outlet mall).  I've been meaning to take a picture to show you, but hadn't gotten around to it.  I still haven't taken a picture, just got this one of the internet.  I've been wanting a pair of brown sandals forever and for some reason could never find a pair I liked.  Again, super comfy.  When I bought these the hubby said, "you already have a pair that looks like that, get something else."  This is the man who recently bought the same shirt in 8 million different colors. Who cares if they are similar if I like them and they fit well?

Yep.  I'd take these in every color, too.  Especially the turquoise.  And that's not red, it's more of a burnt orange or terra cotta, right?  So it wouldn't be another red pair of shoes.

I think these are blue.  They might be gray, but I have decided they are navy because it's my blog and I'll make shoes whatever color I want them to be.

There are a million more options out there, but I didn't want to go overboard on them.  Looking at all of the pictures kind of made me want to ditch heels and wear nothing but Clarks from now on.  Sign of the apocalypse?  Oooh, but the added bonus would be that it would drive the hubby nuts that all of my shoes suddenly looked basically the same!
