Rubber Duckies

Whew, it's been a crazy week.  The accident happened on Tuesday.  Wednesday was pretty much taken up dealing with the insurance company, the tow truck, the rental car place, etc.  Blah.  The insurance totaled my car, which wasn't much of a surprise, but it did make me sad.  My little Hermione has been good to me.  We drove from Montana to Pennsylvania and back for internship, from Montana to Berkeley and back for my last semester of seminary, and lots of other road trips.  Thursday was more car related stuff and errands for the hubby's newest project.  Friday we spent 3 1/2 hours at The Home Depot buying and hauling stuff for said project.  Saturday we poured concrete.  10 hours, 57 bags of concrete, and 4 trips to Home Depot later, we had the slab done.  Sunday the hubby started building while I ran some errands and made more trips to Lowe's and Home Depot.  Finally, today, we bought a new (to us) car and did all the "fun" stuff like going to the DMV.  I'm tired, y'all.

More on the car in a later post.  Since I'm tired, I'm going to do a light and fluffy post.  I mentioned decorating the mantel awhile back.  It's a long-ish story, but I've acquired quite the collection of rubber duckies, including ones for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.  Here are the Halloween and Thanksgiving ones:

Yeah, I know they're totally silly, but they make me smile, and they look cute around the house during the holidays.  You know I went looking for rubber ducky shoes, right?

So bright and fun and cheerful.

Man these are bright.  They're almost emergency vehicle yellow.  Add the pink in there and these could stop traffic.  Maybe not in a good way.

The slippers are adorable, but  the chubby legs are even cuter.

Cute.  I'm pretty sure they're kid shoes, but I'd wear them.

Um...even strippers like rubber duckies?

So fun for puddle stomping!

Warm and fuzzy duckies!

This looks like either a claw machine or a ball pit.

Oh dear.  Poor duckies with the  crazy eyes.

PB  needs these, of course.

Ahhhh...that was helpful.  I'm still tired, but this was so much more enjoyable than all the other stuff I've been doing for most of the week.  Also, I'm now singing this in my head:

Ernie!  Definitely a lovely stress reliever.

Math?!

The hubby is taking some online classes to finish up a degree he started awhile ago but had to quit due to a variety of reasons.  (Seriously, working 40 hours a week and commuting 6 hours a day isn't enough for the man??)  His current class is basic math, which is ridiculous because he has a business degree and started out his career as an accountant.  But those credits don't transfer.  Clearly their logic is not like our earth logic.  At any rate, I've been doing some of the assignments with him, just to see how much I remember.  The answer is:  Not much.  I did well in math in both High School and College.  I got a B in geometry in High School, which pissed me off to no end, but I got As otherwise.  I'm pretty sure that I only remembered how to do things long enough to complete homework, quizzes and tests, though, because I am not doing so well right now.  Good thing I'm not the one taking the class, or my GPA would be in trouble and the perfectionist in me would be annoyed. Except for the math I do everyday, I've decided I'd rather wear math than do it.

Seriously, Toms has shoes for dang near any occasion.  All of these came in a variety of colors.  I don't know what brand the middle pair is, but I like the bright colors on the black.  Those are more like Sesame Street math than the rest of the shoes.  And Sesame Street math is right up my alley.  I love to count with The Count!  1!  1 pair of shoes!  Ah ah ah...

Sesame Street

I love Sesame Street.  Always have. I will still watch it when I come across it while flipping through channels.  Lately on facebook people keep posting a clip with The Count and Benedict Cumberbatch.  I have to admit, I really don't get the hype with him (I totally get the hype over The Count).  Please don't send me hate mail if you are a fan.  I don't have any issues with him, just don't know a lot about him, and have never seen him in anything.  Maybe I would be on board if I started watching Sherlock.  Anyhoo, the clip reminded me of my love of Sesame Street, so I decided what this rainy (yay, it's raining!) day needs is some fabulous Sesame Street shoes:

Ernie looks a little freaked out, but holy cow do these make me smile.  It's a like a giant Ernie hug for your foot!

I would want one pair of each character for my baby.  I'm not a huge Elmo fan as he was after my childhood, but I know he's really popular.  Maybe I should say I would want a pair with every old-school character for my baby.

Sweet anniversary shoes.  And they have The Count! And Cookie Monster and Grover!

I really like these.  They look like they have pretty much every character, even the minor ones.  I respect the dedication.  And I like the multi-colored shoelace holes.

Oh my gosh, these are so many different kinds of awesome.

SUPER GROVER!!!!

Seriously, I would wear pretty much all of these.  Maybe I will stop buying heels and start buying Sesame Street tennis shoes.
