Gloomy

It snowed today!  Unfortunately, it was also in the high 30s most of the day, so it mostly melted and was muddy.  The falling snow was pretty, but the mud was less so.  It's supposed to be much colder tomorrow (low of 3!) so if it snows more it will stick and be pretty.  In the meantime, tonight's shoes are inspired by the gloomy gray clouds that spent the day.

I really like these.  I love the criss-crossy straps.

These are booty adjacent, and yet I like them a lot on.

Very simple, but classy.

More straps!  You know I love Mary Janes.

I wish I could see these from the sides, because the fronts are very interesting.  I might like them.

OK, so you might think gray shoes are kind of boring, but not ALL shoes need to be wild and crazy, and I rather liked this selection.  You don't have to like them, but it's my blog, so I get to choose. 😋😝

Interns and Flannel and Piggies

My feet hurt.  A lot.  Today the hubby and I attended an end-of-the-year luncheon for mentors.  Our high school intern attends a charter school that requires all students to do an internships on Tuesdays and Thursdays at local business.  There are about 300 students at the school, so that's a lot of  internships and mentors.  And look, I got a certificate!

Yeah, I know you're jealous.  Anyway, I decided I should try to look as nice and professional as possible, so wore heels for the first time in absolutely forever.

The heels aren't even that high in the grand scheme of things, but my feet are so very mad at me, and poor little not broken but still very swollen piggy toe is VERY mad at me.

Can you see how swollen that little pinkie toe is?  Thankfully I brought flats to wear the rest of the day.

Even though they made my feet sad I still really like those gray flannel shoes and decided to go look for more.

I love this.  So very cute.

I kind of like this.  Yes, I know I'm probably weird.

Pretty much what I already have, just with a platform and higher heel.

THESE are the shoes I should have worn today.

This is weird and also maybe kind of cute?

T-straps!

I know gray flannel might not be the most exciting shoe material in the world, but I don't think these shoes are boring.  Tomorrow I'll be back to flats and hopefully my feet will forgive me.

Poop in a Group

When I was home I was talking to Laughter and Flower about how I wasn't very organized that day.  I said I "couldn't get my poop in a group" because it was more appropriate than telling a 10 and 5 year old that I couldn't get my $h!t together.  They both gave me looks of equal confusion and horror and then one of them asked, "why would you WANT your poop in a group?!"  I told them it was a silly, rhyming way of saying I wasn't organized, but their reactions made me laugh.

I still can't get my poop in said group.  I've been home for almost a week and I'm still not unpacked.  My desk at work is a mess, although I think I'm fairly on top of most of what I need to be on top of work-wise.  It's just home that's messed up.  I don't know if I'm having trouble adjusting to post-vacation reality or if it's part of a bigger picture of discontentment.  There are so many things I need to do around the house and I don't want to do any of it.  And I feel all blah and discombobulated.  I think I'm starting to have some thoughts about the why of this, but those thoughts, like that poop, will not get and stay in a group.

And now, because I'm discombobulated, you get to look at poop shoes.  You're welcome.

From a distance, these just look like they have a cool pattern on them, and I love the turquoise laces.

Up close, though, we see the happy poo emoji is what makes up said cool pattern.

Turns out there are more shoes than you might think with this particular emoji.  There was quite the range of colors.  I don't want to know who buys these.

Ohdeargod, these are made from actual elephant poop.  Why?  Who designed them?  Who buys them?!  This is NOT the group I want my poop to be in.

I have definitely typed the word poop enough for one day.  Back to work in an attempt to find the top of my desk underneath the (albeit organized and sorted) mountains of paperwork.  Although what I really want to do is go home and take a nap with puppies.  The hubby is home sick today, I want to be home, too!

Jeep

The other day after I wrote about The Auntie's and my fabulous road trip she wanted to know why the shoes had VWs on them and not Jeeps since she drives a Jeep Renegade (I think).  Honestly I just typed in "road trip shoes" and liked the ones with VWs on them.  I didn't even think about the kind of car we actually went road tripping in.  But, her comment got me to do another search, and it turns out that Jeep makes shoes.  Who knew?  From the very little research I did it looks like they make shoes for men, women, and children, and they can be leather or vegan.  Huh.  That's pretty much all I can say.  But I can show you pictures (just of women's shoes because those are the ones that caught my eye):

Overall I think they're pretty cute, and they seem like they would be comfortable, although I can't speak from actual experience.  I think this last, red one is my favorite, but I would actually wear any of them, especially if they are comfortable.  So thanks, Auntie for teaching me something new!

Speaking of Jeeps, our 16 year old intern drives a Jeep, and this next paragraph has nothing to do with that, I was just using it as a really bad segue.  Anyway, the hubby called me when I was in Montana and said that the intern was asking when I would be back.  Yesterday he told me it felt like I'd been gone for 4 years.  He's a really sweet, smart, and funny kid and in my role as office mom I think I tend to treat him more like one of my nieces than an employee.  The hubby and I joke that he's our adopted son, and I kind of got the impression that he was a tiny bit worried that his work parents were getting a divorce when I didn't come back when I said I would.  There was really no point to this paragraph other than I was thinking of the intern and thought he was rather sweet.

Holidays!

Last night I had a sleepover with Double A, The Bean, Flower, Laughter, Pippi and Tink.  Mom's house was a bit crowded, but it just made it more cozy.  Today they were all on hand so we could do Holidays!  For those of you unfamiliar, this is the day when we do a whole bunch of holidays in one day while I'm home because I miss most of them with the kiddos during the year.  For Easter we dyed eggs and then had an Easter egg hunt in the yard.  Then we did Fourth of July with leftover smoke bombs and snaps that the brother brought over.  Lunch was a Thanksgiving dinner with turkey and stuffing followed  by a birthday celebration for everyone with cupcakes and candles.  After lunch we did Halloween with face paint and Trick-or-Treating at various doors (usually we do this outside, but today it was pouring down rain so we did it inside).  Last we did a St. Patrick's Day treasure hunt to find the gold that the Leprechaun hid.  Hopefully a good time was had by all.  Mom and I were fairly tired afterwards, but I had fun.  Here are the shoes everyone wore today:

The Bean and Double A's matching fleep flops.

Tink's whole outfit was that crazy color combination, plus these fun, colorful shoes that light up.

Laughter.  I think these are adorable.

Flower.  She's siting next to me and says these shoes are oooooold.  But look at her cute polka dot socks!

I love Pippi's colorful laces.

Today was another awesome day with the fam.  Laughter, Flower, The Bean and Double A are staying the night again, so that will be fun.  And slightly less crowded.

Animal Crackers, Yum!

Today is National Animal Crackers Day.  Although frankly, animal crackers day could be every day because they are yummy.  I love the frosted kind, the kind in the circus box, the kind that comes in the giant plastic bear container.  Today I celebrated with the frosted kind:

I mean, come on: frosting AND sprinkles?  What's not to love?  Although half the time I have no idea what the animals are supposed to be, but that's a minor consideration.

I couldn't find any shoes specifically dealing with animal crackers, and I recently did a zoo post (animal crackers are usually zoo or circus themed), so I just found animal shoes I thought were adorable.  As such, I'm going to leave the comments to you because all of mine would be some variation of awww...so cute!

I love them all.  They are adorable.

If you looked back at the zoo post you'll notice a similarity in theme with this one beyond just animal shoes, and that is EAT ALL THE THINGS!  I don't know what is going on with me lately, but I am hungry all the fricking time.  I'm like a bottomless pit with a tapeworm who also has a bottomless pit.  I don't know if it's stress or hormones, or the planetary alignment or what, but dang.  Hence the purchasing and eating of frosted animal crackers.  Sigh.  My butt is going to be huge if I keep this up.

Moving on.

Ha Ha

Today is International Moment of Laughter Day.  Did you know laughing is good for you?  Did you laugh today?  Now that I'm thinking about it, I'm not sure I did.  I've been a little sad today, and a lot tired.  I'll have to remedy that and find something to giggle about.  Here are some shoes that came up when I did a search for laughter:

These are disturbing.  One of the few things I've found on Zazzle that I really didn't like.

Mr. Tickle and Mr. Happy!  Which sounds like dirty when I type it like that.  But they're actually characters from a series of books I loved as a kid.  These shoes, and the memory of those books, definitely make me smile.

This picture said something about happiness.  How can you not be happy when Snoopy is doing the Snoopy dance?  Or when Snoopy and Woodstock are having such a fabulous snuggle?

I need these.  My feet would be happy no matter how gloomy the weather.

And now for some jokes.  My favorite jokes as a kid was:  What's green and flies?  Super Pickle!  Hahahahahaha!  I love that someone made artwork.  I have no idea why I thought that joke was so incredibly funny, but I think I told it to every member of my family a million zillion times, as well as to friends and total strangers.

As an adult, with a kid's sense of humor, this has been one of my go-to knock knock jokes.

Then I did a search for silly kid jokes.  This one made me smile.

As did this one.  I love jokes that are plays on words.

Did you laugh today?  Do you have any jokes to share with me?

Rain

It's raining.  Normally this makes me happy, and on one had it still does because we need the moisture.  On the other hand, I have a backyard of yard stuff, including cushions, getting wet after the movers dumped everything and left.  I was so focused yesterday on the garage I didn't even think about the backyard.  This Bitmoji pretty well sums up my attitude toward the rain today:

Only my Bitmoji self can pull of skinny pants and booties.

Anyway, in honor of the rain, the PF sent me some fun rain boots!

OK, I know these aren't rain boots.  They're adorable baby cowboy boots!  But hopefully not steel-toed.  Oh dear, I might be too klutzy for babies.  What if they actually need steel-toe baby shoes (plus a helmet and lots and lots of bubble wrap) to protect them from mommy?

These will definitely brighten up a gloomy day. Also appropriate as yesterday was the first day of Spring.

Blue, of course, because she knows her audience.  I like these.  I would wear them.  Again, I must ask, don't rain boots just make your feet sweat?  Anyone out there wear them and want to way in on this extremely pressing question?

Horsey boots!

Kind of a boring color, but you know I love a good polka dot.  And I think I see some black ones with multi-colored polka dots in the picture above?

I guess I won't complain too much about the rain today as the hubby and the parents have both had snow in the past few days.

Memory Lane:  2013 (from yesterday in case you were curious). 2013. 2014.

3 Things:

  1. Rain.  It's a blessing, even when I'm dumb and don't put stuff away properly.
  2. Service people who come on time.  I really hate those 4 hour windows you normally get, but today I had a window 7:30-8am window for the internet guy and he was there by 8:10.  Yes, that's technically late, but very timely compared to how those appointments usually go.  He was also very nice, very efficient, and done by around 9:00.
    1. Also a very nice lady I spoke with on the phone about ordering some stuff for the office.  She was so helpful when I was so confused.  She then said the hubby should give me 2 dozen roses for being the wife of the year.  No wonder I liked her!
  3. Internet at the new house!  It was only 2 days without it, but still, I'm happy I didn't have to wait longer.
