From the Brain of the Bean

Tonight's post is brought to you by inspiration from the Bean because I couldn't come up with anything and I didn't take pictures of the kiddos' cute shoes today.  So she suggested I type in all of the nieces' names + shoes, and then she helped me pick a pair for each niece:

DJ.  She likes black, she's not terribly girly when it comes to shoes, and apparently she wants a Harley.

Double A.  These aren't real, they're for a doll, but she loves green.  She wouldn't actually wear these, though, because they have heels and she's strictly a flats girl.

The Bean chose cute sandals for herself, which is kind of funny as she loooooves heels.

Flower.  We like the colors.  Not sure if they look like Flower or not.

Laughter didn't have a lot of choices.  These were the best of the bunch.  At least they're blue!

Speaking of blue, Pippi gets awesome blue wedding shoes.

This is actually a little sedate.  Tink loves color and crazy patterns, but The Bean and I thought this was really cute.

And that's it from Montana.  I'm tired and the 6 girls who are having a sleepover tonight are probably going to wake up much earlier than I am prepared for.

Vacation Day 1

Aaaah...Montana...how I've missed you.  Today was a fairly perfect day.  It started a little after midnight when my plane landed in Missoula and the Auntie picked me up at the airport.  I then got to see her new house and we chatted way too long and didn't get to bed until after 2:00.  One downside to the day was waking up at 7:30 because I had to go to the bathroom and then not being able to fall back asleep.  Oh well.  The Auntie and I then spent the (unseasonably warm) day playing.  We went to the University of Montana (my alma mater) bookstore and wandered around campus for awhile.  We had lunch at a new-to-both-of-us place downtown that was super yummy and then did lots of walking and window shopping.  We went to Rockin' Rudy's, which is one of my favorite places ever.  Then we me the seester at the girls' school and watched Flower and Laughter during their soccer practice, after which I spent the rest of the evening at the seester's, which is where I'm staying tonight.  Holy buckets, Flower and Laughter have both gotten so tall!  And they were cracking me up tonight with all of their stories and antics.  Here are some shoes from the day:

This selection of adorable baby shoes was in one of the stores the Auntie and I wandered through.

Flower's sparkly, strappy wedges.

Laughter's fun, polka dot fleep flops.

The Auntie's awesome Keenes.

The Seester's awesome Tevas.

My new shoes!  First pair I've bought in maybe a year?  I needed some black flats for this trip and for work, and really liked these.  It was incredibly stupid of me to walk around all day in shoes I hadn't broken in, though, and I now have the blisters to prove it.  But, I think JG will be so proud of my black shoes!

Laughter's feet selfie.

Laughter's and my feet, one each in a pair of the Seester's adorable purple shoes.  Picture taken by Flower.  You can also see the back of one of my new shoes, so you get a better understanding of the whole.

I really could not have asked for a better day.  I love my family.

Airport

I'm currently sitting in the Minneapolis-St. Paul airport waiting for my flight to Montana. Montana!!!!! I haven't been home in over a year, and I'm sooooo excited. I'm also rolling my eyes that I had to fly to Minnesota so I can now backtrack to Montana, but the ticket was a really good price, so I'm not going to complain too much. My layover is about 3 hours, so I'm charging my phone, writing a quick post (on my phone, which is always kind of annoying), and people watching. The most adorable, shiny, gray boots just walked by. It's still a mystery why women run through airports in heels, but oh well. In honor of my current location I thought I'd so some more airplane shoes:

I did these last time too, but plane slippers are to cute not to share again.

Is gloomy and raining here, so these are totally appropriate.

Adorable.

Blue! Whimsical! I kind of want a pair to wear when I fly.

I'm off to wander while I wait.

Bicycles?

Today is Bicycle Day, which sounds pretty cool, until I clicked on the link and found out it's actually about LSD.  Hmmm...I'm just going to go ahead and make this about bicycles if that's OK with you.  We don't need drug-themed shoes, and certainly nothing hallucinogenic.

Maybe if you're disappointed you can squint and pretend some of these are psychedelic.  Who knew there were so many bicycle-themed baby shoes and in so many fun colors?  This is actually only a sampling, there were quite a few more options.  And yes, I know I've been posting a lot of baby shoes lately.  No, I'm not pregnant, but I've been feeling a little stressed, a little sad, a little blah lately, and baby shoes are always a nice pick-me-up.

Speaking of stressed, today has been crazy.  Not in a bad way, just in a super busy way.  Which is good, except that I feel like I've been spinning in circles all day and I'm not sure I've actually accomplished anything.  We're having a delightful lull in the craziness at the moment so I'm taking a quick break to write this, but now I must get back to it.

Animal Crackers, Yum!

Today is National Animal Crackers Day.  Although frankly, animal crackers day could be every day because they are yummy.  I love the frosted kind, the kind in the circus box, the kind that comes in the giant plastic bear container.  Today I celebrated with the frosted kind:

I mean, come on: frosting AND sprinkles?  What's not to love?  Although half the time I have no idea what the animals are supposed to be, but that's a minor consideration.

I couldn't find any shoes specifically dealing with animal crackers, and I recently did a zoo post (animal crackers are usually zoo or circus themed), so I just found animal shoes I thought were adorable.  As such, I'm going to leave the comments to you because all of mine would be some variation of awww...so cute!

I love them all.  They are adorable.

If you looked back at the zoo post you'll notice a similarity in theme with this one beyond just animal shoes, and that is EAT ALL THE THINGS!  I don't know what is going on with me lately, but I am hungry all the fricking time.  I'm like a bottomless pit with a tapeworm who also has a bottomless pit.  I don't know if it's stress or hormones, or the planetary alignment or what, but dang.  Hence the purchasing and eating of frosted animal crackers.  Sigh.  My butt is going to be huge if I keep this up.

Moving on.

Big P, Little p, What Begins With P?

Yesterday a friend posted this on my facebook timeline:

It's a "winged, purple dragon" and it's adorable and fierce.   I'm just glad it's not real or we'd probably have to get 3 and then I'd be the mother of 6 dragons, 3 of which can fly.  I'll stick with the beardies, thank you.  But it did make me go look for purple dragon shoes:

This is a Disney ornament, which makes me like a lot better than when I thought it was an actual shoe.  I'm not sure it's a shoe I want for my shoe tree, but I do like that the dragons go some love in the shoe/ornament department.

These I love.  I might need some purple dragon tennies for days when I need a little extra confidence.  Don't mess with me...I'm wearing my purple dragon tennies!

The Pinterest Friend also sent me a picture on Facebook yesterday, although of something I'd already seen as I'd made it.  Here is Pedro modeling my newest newborn prop for the PF's photography business.

3 Peas in a pod!  Or in this case, 3 peas and Pedro in a pod!  I had extra green yarn after making Pedro's St. Patrick's day hat and had a pattern for this newborn prop.  Pedro looks so cute in it I almost didn't send it to the PF.  So of course I had to also go look for pea pod shoes:

Who wears pea pod flip flops?  I'm not judging, just genuinely curious.

These are tiny, as evidenced by the penny at the bottom.  I have no idea what these are for.

In case the PB ever needs pea pod shoes.

I think that's enough P words for one day, don't you?

I Heart Librarians

Today is National Librarian Day, and my daddy is a (retired) librarian!  To celebrate the day, and the love of reading instilled in me by both of my parents, here are a few book-inspired shoes:

Ohmygoodness I love these.  And I want to read them.

Love me some Harry Potter.  These shoes had better be made out of photo copies, though, and not actual book pages, or I'm going to be super grumpy.

Same here.  I also love Jane Eyre.  It's my favorite from the Bronte sisters.  I pretty much loathed Wuthering Heights and wanted to smack everyone.

Lord of the Ring shoes.  These are awesome.  I can't read Elvish, though, so hopefully there's nothing inappropriate written on these...

Awww....baby Babar shoes!

The day is almost over here, and already over for most of you, but you should definitely thank a librarian one of these days.  I would say hug one, but that might get awkward, unless said library is your father.  Love you, Mr. Daddy, you're my favorite librarian on the planet!
