Crazy

OhMyGoodnessTodayWasCrazyNonStopNothingWentQuiteAsPlannedCanIGoToBedNowPlease?! Yeah, today was crazy.  The hubby was sick and stayed home, work was one thing after another after another, I have a major sinus headache, blah blah blah.  I got a lot done today, which is good, but I also feel like I was completely disjointed the entire day and I hope I didn't screw anything up in any major, unfixable way.  So, in honor of this crazy day, here are 5 crazy shoes that actually manage to make my day seem a little more normal:

So you can box with your feet?  In case a clown also wants to be a boxer?

This actually makes me giggle a little bit.  But would you constantly slip on the banana peel?

OK, that is just plain creepy.  Why?

Also why?  Once again I have to say:  Put down the glue gun and back away slowly.

I don't even know what is going on with these.  Because they weren't crazy enough someone thought it would be a super cool idea to put giant, blood shot eyes in the middle! Weird.

Hey, at least all of these make me feel marginally better about my day.

Memorial Day

I'm never sure if the appropriate greeting is "Happy Memorial Day."  It is, after all, a day when we remember those who have died in service of their country.  I guess "Contemplative Memorial Day!" or "Remember Memorial Day!" would sound even weirder.  At any rate, I am grateful that my dad, uncle, and grandfather all came back from their time in the Navy, and I pray that DJ will do the same with her time in the Navy.  Today my thoughts are with all of those families who have lost loved ones, and my prayer is also that some day there will be no need to remember the fallen because peace will reign and war will end.

On a lighter note, there's shoes.

Obviously Memorial Day shoes are going to be very similar to 4th of July shoes, so I only chose a few pictures for today.  The top pair is vintage, from the 50s, and I think they're really cool.  And everyone needs a pair of patriotic shoes that light up!

Today is also (again, I have no idea who comes up with this stuff) My Bucket's Got a Hole In It Day.  Which is weird, and which means I have been singing this all day:

The video is a little creepy, but the song reminds me of when I was in elementary school and my daddy was my music teacher and we would sing this song.

Pillows Where?

My 29th is Put a Pillow on Your Fridge Day.  I know I've said it before, but there are just some massively weird holidays out there.  At least they give me inspiration for posts.

I don't think I'm going to start decorating with shoe pillows any time soon, but there are some fun ones out there.  I think my favorite of these is this last one with the butterflies.  Maybe Double A needs a new look for her room.

Guess what?  2 days in a row that we weren't in the office!  We still did work from home, but we didn't end up going in like we planned.  In addition to work I got to take a nap, do some more crochet, do some laundry, make a yummy dinner, and of course snuggle with puppies.  Darn good weekend.

Ahhhhh

We were supposed to go to the office today, but for a variety of reasons we ended up staying home.  I slept in!  I finished a book!  I crocheted!  I caught up on some TV watching!  I snuggled puppies!  I ate chocolate!  It was a lovely and relaxing day and I soooo needed it.  Here is a selection of what came up when I typed in "lovely and relaxing shoes."  I'll leave it up to you as to whether they are either, neither, or both.

I hope your day was also lovely and relaxing.

Snoopy

My cousin recently posted this on my Facebook wall:

Awwww....I love Snoopy!  And this is pretty much how I have felt all week.  I just want to snuggle up and snooze.  Except that I can't sleep on my stomach, but whatever.  These are adorable and made me go in search of more.

The Red Baron!  Plus, blue canvas high tops.  What's not to love?

More blue.  More sleepy Snoopy.  These just embody my week.

Hmmm...didn't realize I went for quite so much blue.  But look how Snoopy loves Woodstock.

Hey!  Red!

Not blue, either!  I really like this.  Wouldn't be able to keep a pair clean, but I can dream.

This looks like the Sunday funnies on a show.  I'm in favor.

I HAD to end with the Snoopy dance.  I could have gone on for awhile with this post as there are approximately 8 gazillion and 3 cute Snoopy shoes.  But I'll quit and get back to work.  Yes, work.  8:00 on Friday and we're still at the office.  We're that dedicated!

Paper Airplanes

Today is National Paper Airplane Day.  Which seems as good a thing to post about as anything.  I'm so tired this week, and I'm rather tired of being so tired.  Oh well.  At least there are paper airplane shoes in the world.

I had no idea I would find this many pairs.  I'm pleasantly surprised as they're all sweet.  Now I wish I'd known about today sooner so I could have made paper airplanes and thrown them at the interns.  Speaking of interns, have I mentioned that I'm currently the only woman in our office?  We have 16 employees, counting me and the hubby, and I'm the only woman. We have one other female employee but she works remotely, so I'm surrounded by men.  Don't get me wrong, I like men, but dang, we need a little estrogen up in that place.

Still No Tea Party

Dang.  May 24th is here again, bringing with it International Tiara Day, and just like last year I'm STILL not home having a tiara tea party with nieces.  I really need to reprioritize my life.  I guess I'll just give you more tiara shoes.

These are really floofy, but I had to show them to you because they aren't pink!  It's not that I completely hate pink, but tiaras should not have to equal pink.  In fact, come to think of it, I rarely see Kate Middleton wear pink.

Whoa.  Speaking of floofy.  And pink.  But I actually kind of like them.  At least there are some added colors, and I like that they're tennies.  For the princess who wants to be floofy AND practical.

Also practical.  Not pink.  Maybe I'd like them better if the gold parts weren't bedazzled.

Ohhhhh...thank you Frozen for giving me blue tiara shoes.  I doubt they come in my size, but I would totally wear them to my next tea party if they did.

Yep.  This pretty much sums up my day.  Throw in some snuggles with an adorable baby and I would be one happy baby snuggling, tiara/new shoe wearing, cooking eating fool.

Seminary

According to a friend's post on Facebook today we graduated from seminary 9 years ago.  Like my auntie said, it doesn't seem like 9 years until I see how how little Double A was in the pictures. She was 7 in 2007 and her birthday present was to get to go to graduation with Mom and Dad.  Actually, she couldn't have cared less about graduation. The real birthday present was that graduation was in the Bay Area which meant she got to see the Golden Gate Bridge.  She was obsessed with the Golden Gate Bridge and you should have seen how excited she was to visit it, walk on it, drive across it, etc.  It was adorable.  Anyway, 9 years.  Time flies.  I'm going with an anagram post tonight because it's time for bed and I didn't want to do anything too elaborate (and I still have to run the dishwasher and upload another podcast, blah).  I graduated from Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary:

P is for Pacific and purple.

L is for Lutheran and lime green.

T is for Theological and teal.

S is for Seminary and silver.

May 21

This is the post that I meant to do yesterday but the stupid headache wouldn't let me.  The headache is still lingering today, but it's not as bad thank goodness.  So yesterday was a good day although a bit emotional.  First, it was Pippi's 9th birthday!  She is sweet and smart and sassy and has always had the ability to crack me up.  Even as a baby her personality was awesome.  Here are some shoes named after her:

I'd say this was sweet and sassy.

I'd like to see this in a color but couldn't find it.  I like the detailing on the heel, it reminds me of fairies somehow.

Yesterday was also emotional as I went to a memorial service to say good-bye to a beautiful woman from St. Someone's.  She was a bright light during my time there and always made me feel loved, supported and appreciated.  It was clear from the remembrances and people's conversations that she made everyone she met feel that same way.   I  love this picture the family had displayed in the sanctuary:

Wasn't she beautiful?  She had the same first name as my mama, just spelled differently.  Here are shoes named after her (with that spelling):

She was always well-dressed and had great accessories.  I'm not sure if these orange ones would have been to her taste, but I'm sure she would have figured out the right outfit to pull them off with.

After the service I met SKD and took her for a 1 day less than a month late birthday pedicure.  She gave me a belated birthday present, too, and hers was awesome:

She MADE me Beatles cups!  Isn't she just the coolest?

Her cup is way better than these shoes, that's for sure.  I hope she likes her cute orange toenails as much as I like my new Beatles cups.

This post is still not what it was in my head, but at least it's out.  Stupid lingering headache.  I'm not even going to tell you how much caffeine and meds I ingested yesterday just to get the dumb thing down to a dull roar.  It's still making my brain mushy, but then everything seems to be doing that these days.  Poor mushy
