Tiiiiiiired

Today was the first day of Sports Camp.  It's a small camp, comparatively speaking.  "Only" 42 kids registered.  Most churches would be thrilled with a number like that, but when you compare it to the almost 200 we had at VBS, its definitely on the small side.  Which I am OK with.  It's a good group of kiddos, but today was not without its stress.  For Sports Camp we rent the fields of the elementary school across the street from the church, but for some reason no one unlocked the gate today.  We tried to contact someone, but no luck.  So I had to quickly come up with alternatives to 3 of my 6 rotations, finding space for them, and figuring out what to do in the space available.  It all worked out, but it definitely stressed me out.  Now I am tired.  Camps always wear me out, especially the first day, because I run so much.  I feel like I don't sit down much.  I always say I should get a pedometer just to see how far I walk during one of these days.  Anyway, I was running so much today that I didn't even take pictures of shoes or come up with anything creative for this post.  Thankfully I have awesome friends who send me stuff!

A friend on Pinterest sent me these and I like them, even though I feel like I shouldn't.  The shape is adorable, but those colors should not go together.  They don't go together, and yet, I still like these.  Maybe I really am tired.  Thoughts?

Book 5

I got my technical difficulties sorted last week and was able to finish Goblet of Fire and move on to The Order of the Phoenix.

This is my least favorite book of the series.  It's the point when things really start turning dark, but the reason I dislike this book so much is because everyone is cranky/snarky/grumpy, and Harry is just angry and pissy the entire book.  There are mitigating circumstances for this, but it still makes the book hard to get through.  There are parts I still enjoy, but they mostly tend to happen toward the end, so I still need to slog through to get them.  Oh well.  Even my least favorite book in this series is still way better than any number of other books I've read.

So, since there aren't a lot of things I really enjoy, we're just going to use the title, and look at shoes with a phoenix theme:

Pretty!  I'm not sure about the shape of this particular shape, but I really like the material.

These are kind of crazy, but they definitely go with a theme; there's even fire shooting up the sides.  Not sure if that's fire or something else on the soles, though.

Boots!  These look like they also have a dragon theme.  Or maybe they only have a dragon theme, and they came up anyway in my phoenix search.

Oh my goodness.  Wow.  That's...busy?  There is definitely have a LOT going on here.  Can you imagine if I were to wear these to church?

Advent in October

We hosted a synod Advent workshop at the church today.  There was worship, a keynote speaker, and various workshops designed to get pastors, staff, and lay people thinking about and planning for Advent worships.  I can't believe it didn't occur to me to wear one of my pair of blue shoes.  Whatever was I thinking?  Instead I wore shoes that I think are cute, but are pretty boring in the grand scheme of things:

Practical, yes, but not up to my usual church standards.  The BSF, on the other hand, totally rocked the shoe department, as per usual.

Adorable sandals!

And they're wedges!  She was one of the people who helped set up and organize the event, and she did a great job like always.  Go, BSF!

Our worship and music director was also wearing her cute sandals today.

She wears these a lot, and I always think they're cute, but I never remember to take a picture of them.  I actually took this during worship.  Shhhh...don't tell anyone.

There were several other cute pairs of shoes that I noticed throughout the day, but I was good and didn't freak people out by asking to take pictures of their feet.  I also didn't do any ninja photography moves to sneakily get their shoes.  See?  I can occasionally be well-behaved.

Texts

My mom and my aunt both sent me shoe pictures this week.  My aunt was in New York City and sent me these:

I love the fact that she became a shoe picture taking ninja for me.  She said the whole outfit was quite odd and impressive, and she was fascinated that she could walk in those shoes.  They don't look that high in the pictures, but if you look at the angle of her feet in first picture, they look really uncomfortable.  The only time I've been to NYC, I wore shoes that were waaaaay more sensible than these.

On a very different note, my mom sent me this picture:

Much more practical!  These are Laughter's boots.  I have no idea what the rest of the outfit looked like, but I like how the pants are all shoved up so we can see the boots.  I also like that my family takes the time to send me pictures so I can share them with you.

On a completely unrelated note, if you have some time, go check out this slideshow.  Some of them are amazing, most of them are just crazy/hideous/weird.  Go on!  You know you want to!

Boots, Continued

SBP apparently has the Fall boot bug, too, as today there are lots of pairs of boots posted.  One of my issues with that site is that it has a lot of women wearing lingerie and shoes, or in this case, boots.  I liked a few of the pairs, but didn't really want to include pictures that look at best like they should be in a Victoria Secret's ad.  I guess the name of the site lives up to itself.  Anyway, here are some more boots for you to peruse:

I actually kind of like these.  They seem a little slutty, though.  I'm not sure I could bring myself to wear them.

The thigh highs are weird enough, but the booties are even worse.  Do they really need a zipper AND laces?  Also, the bent knee sticking out through the laces looks dumb.

This whole outfit is hilarious to me.  I can't decide if the boots are horrible or OK.  I'm leaning mostly towards horrible, and yet, they aren't nearly as ugly as some of the other ones I've seen.  Gotta love levels of horribleness.

And this just cracks me up.  I found it while I was searching through images, and had to include it.  I'd like it more if it was the female pastor who wore biker boots, but oh well.  I am now trying to picture some of the pastors' wives I know wearing these.  I can come up with one definite possibility.

I'm Good, Thanks

I've mentioned before that it doesn't quite feel like Fall to me, even though the calendar now says October.  I keep seeing pictures in various places of women wearing really cute boots and feeling slightly jealous.  In order to cheer myself up I went looking for not-cute boots.  Here are 4 pairs of boots that make me happy it's not yet boot season (and that I will never have to wear these boots):

I don't even know about the white boots because I can't stop looking at the blue.  My eyes are offended.  The heel is weird, the pattern is worse than bad wallpaper, and they are friggin' peep toes.

We don't need flip-flop cowboy boots and we don't need over the knee boot-pumps.  Good grief, people.

These should have been included in yesterday's post.  It's a furry boot with a crown.

And I don't even know what the hell is going on here.

Gross

I chopped 10 inches off of my hair today.  I couldn't take it anymore, it was sweaty and itchy and driving me crazy being on my neck.  I went from this

to this

and it is SO much better.  The hubby prefers me with long hair, so he's less than thrilled, but he doesn't have to deal with it.  This is the 3rd time I've grown my hair long enough to donate.  I like it long for awhile, but then I need a change, so I chop it, donate it, and start growing it again.

And because I have what  is clearly a sick mind, tonight I did an image search for "hair shoes."  Oh dear...it's disturbing.  Here are 3 of the least disturbing ones I could find:

Gross.  Gross.  Gross.  Thankfully my donated hair won't be going to any of these examples.  At least I hope not.  Thankfully I won't know one way or the other, so I can just live happily in my possible denial that my hair is 1/12 of some little girl's wig.
