Happy Halloween!
Some of us are in the spirit today:
Tallulah and I match!
I love this picture, from the sweater to the pose to the handsome dog.
Pedro McTate.
And, because it's a shoe blog, a couple of Halloween shoes (since I've already posted a bunch):
These just have a little bit of everything!
I like all of these, but as a set I really like them.
Happy Halloween! Be safe out there.

I hadn't been feeling very inspired so I needed some kind of direction, and this helped. It's kind of silly, I know, but hey, it got me posting, and it gave me some direction to post something (mostly) other than depressing icky crap.
To finish off the acrostic, today's post will be Z for Zazzle Halloween shoes:
I've been posting a lot of Halloween this month, so I'm not entirely sure what I'll post tomorrow when it's actually Halloween, but I'll come up with something. Probably.

A Spot of Sunshine
First, thank you all for the prayers and good thoughts, they are greatly appreciated. I kind of wish I hadn't said anything, though. Not because I didn't want or need those prayers, because I most certainly did, but because my own crap took away from a post about a man who was an important part of my childhood, and I feel bad for that.
Things today feel a little better. Not perfect, not fixed, but not as desperate as yesterday, so the prayers definitely helped. I still need a bit of brightness in my life, though, so rather than yet another Halloween post, I'm going with bright, sunshiney yellow shoes tonight:
So bright and cheerful! I can never seem to find the right shade of yellow shoes when I go shopping for them. Actually, I have found a couple of pairs but they were insanely uncomfortable when I tried them on which is just rude. Oh well. Yellow is bright and happy and I need that today, even if it is only in the context of virtual shoes on a silly blog.

Xylophones
I've talked to my mom (Hi, Mom!) a few times this week, which is always nice, and first, she said that the seester had a Is-It-A-Werewolf-Or-Is-It-An-Owl? experience yesterday, which is hilarious in it's own right, but also hilarious considering yesterday's post was ALSO about werewolves. Great sisters think alike?
We were also talking about my Great Uncle Charles' (Uncle Chuck - my dad's mother's brother) upcoming 90th birthday party next week in Oregon. This man was one of my absolute favorite people when I was growing up. He would just show up sometimes to say hi, which always meant I got lots of snuggle time and often got to go to the store to pick out a toy. What's not to love in that scenario? Here we are in 1986:
Notice I'm plunked on his lap, despite being 11. I think the look on his face says he thought I was OK, too. As Mom and I were talking, I was also telling the hubby about Uncle Chuck and his visits, and it made me think of one time when he came and I got to pick out a toy, so of course I chose the most annoying thing (for everyone else) I could find:
A xylophone pull toy! (I was NOT eleven when I chose this, in case you were wondering) It not only made noise when I played, it also made noise when you pulled it around. How fun! I could be musical and annoy the whole family in one fell swoop! Sorry, family. I hope you don't still hate me.
This memory made me smile, and then go look for xylophone shoes.
Kind of blah, but hey! Xylophone shoes!
Not blah. Absolutely adorable.
Cute and colorful, but again with the fleep flop issues...
Less cute colorful. Still same fleep flop issues.
This isn't a xylophone shoe per se, but it kept coming up in my searches and it certainly evokes some of the more colorful options up above, so I decided to include it. Because it's cute and strappy and rainbowy.
Thank you, Mom, Uncle Chuck, and Xylophones for inspiring today's post.
On a much heavier note: yesterday's bad day turned into today's truly horrible day. My screw-up went from not good to monumentally bad, and I'm not sure I'll be able to fix it. I'm sorry to be vague, but I'm talking life-altering here, and not just for me. Prayers would be appreciated greatly.

Werewolves
Today is not a good day. On the plus side, it's raining! Yay! On the not plus side, I'm being blamed for something that's only partially my fault. So I'm pissy about the not my fault part, and horribly guilty and depressed for the part that is. Today's Halloween-themed shoes are werewolves because they are whimsical enough to cheer me up and they also match the growly, grumpy, transformative (ie wishy washy) part of me.
See? These are funny. They make me smile.
These also make me smile because someone made DIY werewolf shoes.
These are OK, nothing that great really, until...
...you see the bottoms. They make werewolf footprints! I would wear them just for that.
These came in this style, in mules, boots, booties, flipflops, and possibly tennis shoes, and they are all a world of no. I really like my Halloween to more whimsical and less graphic.
Like this. I would wear these right now and my feet would be snuggly and happy.
Hopefully I will also be snuggly and happy at some point during the day. Grrr...stupid guilt.

Vampires
I'm moving away from socks today, but not away from Halloween. Tis the season, after all. Today I did a search for vampire shoes, which when I think of it is just one more weird thing to type into Google. My browsing history is full of weird shoe searches. But we all know I make my own fun, and here are some of the results from that search:
This was one of the first pictures that came up, and for once I don't think the hubby needs any of these. Are they supposed to be shoes that a vampire would wear? Shoes that a vampire DID wear and these are the resulting blood spatters? I don't know, but I'm going with no on these.
These are a definite yes because how goofy and cute are they? The make me smile.
These do not. The shoes themselves are just plain ugly. I could deal with the graphic graphics (heehee), but I can't forgive those ugly-@$$ shoes.
Much better.
Vampire bats count, right? It's my blog, so I say they do.
Are you tired of the Halloween theme? Because I'm not! I need themes in my life to keep me on track and give me ideas for posting. You'll just have to tune back in once November hits for something different.

Under Where?
Yesterday as I was looking at Halloween Fuzzy Socks I came across this:
I can't help it, I just love themed socks.
Especially striped themed socks!
I really like this set.
They're cute, and they're Halloween, but they're aren't fuzzy socks, nor do I think I need holiday-themed underpants. Nor do we need an entire post about underwear. But, I will continue on with the Socktober theme because A.) I like socks and B.) socks technically go under clothes so it's kind of like doing an underwear post. Yes. I know I need therapy. Shut up and look at socks.
I can't help it, I just love themed socks.
Especially striped themed socks!
I like my socks a little taller on my calf (although these might be kids' socks), but I do appreciate the variety in this set.
I really like this set.
And this set is just swell. I have nothing bad to say about it. I've probably been lulled into a sock stupor at this point, though, so don't take my word for it.

Tiiiiiiired
My patootie is dragging today. I have no idea why, really, but dang am I tired. Part of it is the weather which is gray and gloomy but not yet raining. I hope it rains. So I thought I'd continue with yesterday's original inspiration of Socktober, but this time go with Halloween fuzzy socks, because I would just like to curl up in some comfy clothes and fuzzy, appropriately-themed socks and read/sleep for the rest of the day. I give them to you without comment as I'm too tired to come up with anything, except, "oooh, cute and fuzzy."
I must get back to work now and try not to fall asleep at my desk.
