Picnics

Saturday was something to do with picnics, and I went off in search of shoes for a post.  But then the hubby and I had our X-Men date night and I did that post instead.  Yesterday was Father's Day, so I had the obvious post topic there, which means I'm getting to picnics a couple of days later than whatever holiday it was over the weekend.  But picnics can be any day, really, so better late than never.  Not that I went on an actual picnic today, but at least there are shoes.

This is kind of weird, and and yet I like it. Why do picnics mean plaid, though?

See?  More plaid?  I think I'd prefer a different, non-polka dotted bow, but the wedge is a good, practical choice if you need/want to go tromping over possibly uneven ground in heels.

Not practical in the least, but soooooo cute.

So, checked picnic blanket or table cloth and ants, but what are the yellow laces?  Sometimes when I glance at the picture they look like french fries.  French fries aren't my first choice for picnic food, but sure, why not?

I'm 2 days late and a whole picnic short, but at least there were some interesting shoes.

Happy 4th!

I hope you all had a fun, safe, and relaxing holiday.  We did absolutely nothing but have a reality TV marathon, which was fine, but man do I miss our annual family reunion on Flathead Lake.  One of these years I'm actually going to be able to take the hubby home for that.  Oh well, we hung out with the puppies, who dressed up for the occasion:

Yes, I did make a paper hat and force them to wear it.  The hubby says I need therapy, and he says the puppies are going to need therapy as well if I keep tormenting them with outfits.

Pedro also wore the hat, but here's a picture from earlier in the day with him in his flag shirt (which I made last year).  He's sitting on the rug I crocheted from old t-shirts.

Our mantel is a little more festive than last year, but still not terribly exciting.  Have I mentioned that my awesome mama made all of the wooden people you see on the mantel each month?  So at least I always have something cute to start with.

Last one before the shoes.  I used to do flags on my toes every year for the 4th, but I haven't done it the last several years, and I'm clearly out of practice.  The right one looks like it was done by a blind, drunk toddler.  But at least I tried to be festive.

OK, shoes.  I love these.

And these.  I could maybe even make a pair like this (although I doubt I could get my lines to go straight).

I have no idea what is happening here, but it frightens me.

Cute, but again, all you would see is a boring red strap once you put them on.

Damn.  That is all.

Much better.  I think this is quite cute.

Oh wow.  Why oh why can't I get the hubby to wear crazy men's shoes?

Love love love, even with the stupid slingbacks.

I like these, too.  Kind of crazy, but I think 4th of July is a holiday you can get away with slightly crazy-festive.

Ribbon laces!  And adorable kiddo shoes.

Happy 4th, everyone.  The puppies and I are worn out from all of the couch snuggling we did today while watching TV, so we're off to bed.

Let's Go on a Picnic!

I almost forgot to post a batch of pictures the Pinterest Friend sent me awhile back.  I'm not sure if she was going for a theme, but they made me think of picnics.  Which sounds fun.  Who wants to go with me?

OK, so these aren't exactly practical picnic shoes, but you know how I love gingham, and these say picnic to me.  Just a picnic with concrete so those cute heels don't sink in the grass.

Baby picnic shoes!  Or other stuff, too, but hey, work with me on the picnic theme, OK?

I'm kind of wondering if that top pair is actually this watermelon pair.  I don't think so, because I don't think these have bows, but how cute are these?  Could I wear one red and one blue?  Too much?

More adorable baby shoes.  Watermelon and ants on the 4th of July.  Sounds like a picnic to me.

If that purse were a little bigger it could be the picnic basket and I could have matching shoes.

Stupid slingbacks.  But cute!  Apparently I and the nonexistent baby will be going on lots of picnics in all of our fun shoes.

I have no idea where today went, but it disappeared and I feel like I got nothing done.  I hate it when days get sucked into the time vortex.

Thanks, BSF

Today was...interesting.  Busy, stressful, weird, a little depressing, emotional roller coaster, and a few other things I can't put a name to.  Suffice to say, I'm glad it's over.  On a better note, I still have awesome friends who make me feel awesome through their awesomeness.  For instance, the BSF sent me this fabulous shoe card last week:

On the inside it says, "apparently we have issues."  It made me giggle.  But we don't have issues.  You can't have too many pairs of red shoes.  Really.  Black, either.  But red shoes are happy and cheerful, which like this card, make my day happier.  And baby shoes are even happier, so I'm going with those tonight instead of big girl shoes.

I posted on my Facebook the other day how our neighbor, out of the blue, told the hubby and me that she sensed another presence when she looked at us and that she's never wrong about pregnancy predictions.  Yeah, she was wrong about this one.  But, it still made me think about babies, their cute little feet, and shoes for those cute little feet.

I hope your day was a good one, or at least involved awesome friends and/or cute little baby feet or shoes.

Happy Fall!

OK, technically it won't be Fall here for another hour, but for those of you in the other time zones, you're already there.  I love Fall, it's my favorite season, and I miss it.  We get some leaves that change here, and some of them are very pretty, but it's not the same.  I miss crunching through a layer of leaves, kicking them, and jumping in piles of them.  Yes, I do know I'm very immature.  Let's celebrate the change of season with some shoes!

Hmmm...these don't make me want to celebrate.  These are frumpy.

But these are awesome!

These are OK.  Definitely on point theme-wise.

I actually really like the orange tennies.  I also love pictures of feet in leaves.  In fact, the PF posted one on Facebook of her shoes in the leaves in Idaho, and I was totally jealous.

I'm not as sure about the feather on these, but the colors are fun, and they almost look like stained glass.

Gingham.  Leaves.  Fun.

I am intrigued by these.  Hate the thing between the toes, but these are actually pretty cute.

So, Happy Fall!  Go out and  kick some leaves for me.

Cottony Cotton

Tomorrow is the hubby's and my 2nd anniversary.  We actually have plans, so in case I don't get around to posting tomorrow, I thought I'd do it now.  And I'm even posting relatively early - I should have waited until my usual time and then it really would be our anniversary.  In last year's post I mentioned how we spent the morning with me working on a sermon and the hubby doing his fantasy football draft.  We spent this morning almost the same way, but instead of a sermon, I worked on THE LIST.  We also watched Sharknado and many of my brain cells died.  Now we are watching the original Star Trek episodes, which are awesome and hilarious.  We are just soooo romantical.

Apparently the appropriate gift for the 2nd anniversary is cotton.  This makes me want to make a sheep out of cotton balls for the hubby.  Or maybe a cotton ball snowman.  I'm sure he would really loooove either gift.  Instead, my gift to you is cotton shoes:

Mary Janes in lots of colors!

Gingham Mary Janes.  I think I'm liking cotton shoes.

Yep, definitely liking.  Rainbow stripes! Want them.

Awwww...stripey baby shoes.

More stripey baby shoes!

I've posted these before, but cotton heels!  And turquoise.  You know I couldn't resist.

Definitely couldn't resist these.  Holy buckets are these adorable.  Don't you think the hubby should buy me these as an anniversary gift?

Back to my romantic evening of enjoying William Shatner's fantastically bad acting.

Needlework

The calendar started out the week in a pleasantly surprising manner, which is always nice.  It gave me 2 days in a row of shoes done with needlework, and it's quite the welcome change from the usual craziness (which it went back to today, but whatever).

This is from the 40s and is petit-point.  I think they are lovely and fun.

This is Turkish, from the 60s, and also fun.  I like the orange and pink together.

I'm fairly certain I've posted these before, but I couldn't find them.  They are blue, so of course I like them.  I love the embroidery, too.  But these look like the are and odd shape and possibly very uncomfortable.

Holy wow.  These are certainly colorful.  They remind me of the pillows my grandpa used to needlepoint, but I have to admit I like the pillows a lot better.

Blue gingham AND red embroidered flowers?  What's not to love?

I really like these.  I would like to have them on my feet right now.  Except my feet are in bed (as is the rest of me...can you believe it?), and that would be weird.  But I really really like them.

These are also fun.  Vintage shoes often seem more elegant to me.  Probably because you wouldn't have worn CFM shoes unless you were, in fact, a hooker.  And maybe not even then.  Or so I'm guessing.  Hmmmm...maybe I should do research on the footwear of prostitutes through the years...

That last picture took a weird turn.  Let's go back to some blue embroidery that I again love.

Love love love these.

These make the booties above look tame.  Holy buckets these are crazy.  Thankfully Grandpa never made pillows that looked like this...

Oh my gosh cute.  Definitely going in the PB's imaginary shoe closet.

Also adorable.  The PB can have these when she gets older.

I'm actually going to bed now.  So good night, sleep tight, don't let the zipperumpazoos bite.
