Watermelon

So, I've (mostly [sort of]) come to turns with the fact that I am not and never will be perfect.  But does the universe really need to come along and remind me just what a colossal eff up I am?  Today was one of those days, and it sucked.  It got a little better as the day went on, but this morning was not good, I felt terrible, I had major guilt, and sometimes my best doesn't even come close to being good enough.

Tonight I'm moving on and looking at watermelon shoes, because it's National Watermelon Day, even though I did them last year, too.  Besides, I love watermelon, and I don't feel like trying to figure out another theme.

I want to like these, and I'm 80% there, but something falls a little short for me, and I can't put my finger on what it is.

Tie-dye watermelon shoes!  And if they aren't actually tie-dye, I don't want to be disillusioned.

Wow.  And no.  Except, maybe?  They're so wacky they're almost fun.

Cute!

These are weird.  They're weirder when you realize they are knitted or crocheted coverings over booties.  Who comes up with this stuff?

We all needed a nice palate cleanser to round things out.

Now I wish I had some watermelon.  Why did I buy peaches when I went to the store earlier?!

Fleep Flops

The internet tells me that it's National Flip Flop Day.  And the Internet would never lie to me, so it must be true.  Now you know that I generally hate flip flops because of the stupid thing between my toes, but that doesn't mean I can't still find them cute occasionally.  To celebrate the day, and to send a little love to my fleep-flop loving friends, here is a post dedicated to flip flops:

There you go.   I'm now going to go attempt to do my second Bible Study Podcast.  Wish me luck...I'm currently in the trying-not-to-throw-up phase of preparation...

Hot Chocolate

Facebook very helpfully reminded me that 2 years ago today I got pulled over for the first time in my life.  No ticket, but it definitely freaked me out.  3 years ago today I had sinus surgery.  I'm celebrating the anniversary with a sinus infection, but I'm trying not to complain too much because I now only have a couple a year instead of one a month.  So yay for my ENT with his hammer and chisel!  5 years ago today I was in Florida for a continuing ed event.  The event might have been quite helpful if I hadn't been in a horrible depression at the time.  I think I cried a lot if I remember correctly.

Tonight's shoes are about none of these things, though, because today is also National Hot Chocolate Day!  Yum!  And it turns out that there is something called Hot Chocolate Designs.

How cute are these?  I especially love this last pair with the cherries, but I'll take a pair of each, thanks.  You should go check out the site, they have a ton of different designs.  I'll be taking my lovely sinus infection to bed now, thankyouverymuch.

Watermelon

Ahhhhh...tonight I am feeling accomplished after having finished a project I've been working on for almost a year.  A project that wasn't actually mine and for which I'll get nothing tangible.  Yes, I AM being deliberately vague, thank you for asking!  Just celebrate with me that I'm done.  If you want you can do a happy dance with me.

Since today is National Watermelon Day, I'm kind of wishing I had some watermelon to celebrate my accomplishment.  Mmmm...a nice, cold piece of watermelon sounds delightful right now.  Anyone willing to go get me some?  Anyone?  No?  Ok, moving on to shoes.

If you feel like you've seen watermelon shoes on here before you are correct, but I haven't done a whole post on watermelon.  These are interesting.  They're definitely noticeable.  And on-point, theme wise.

I can't decide if I like these or not.  I think so?

These are cute.  Very appropriate for a picnic.

Ummm...this watermelon looks like it's gone bad.  Do not eat this watermelon!

Ooooh...cute.

Does Tom's have a shoe for every conceivable theme?  It would appear so, and it would appear awesome.

The PB is definitely getting a pair of these.  Some day.  In my imagination.

Hey, Mom, I'll crochet you some watermelon shoes if you'll knit me some watermelon socks!

Happy Watermelon Day!  Mark you calendar for next year for some cute shoes and/or socks to wear while you partake of some yumminess.

Let's Go on a Picnic!

I almost forgot to post a batch of pictures the Pinterest Friend sent me awhile back.  I'm not sure if she was going for a theme, but they made me think of picnics.  Which sounds fun.  Who wants to go with me?

OK, so these aren't exactly practical picnic shoes, but you know how I love gingham, and these say picnic to me.  Just a picnic with concrete so those cute heels don't sink in the grass.

Baby picnic shoes!  Or other stuff, too, but hey, work with me on the picnic theme, OK?

I'm kind of wondering if that top pair is actually this watermelon pair.  I don't think so, because I don't think these have bows, but how cute are these?  Could I wear one red and one blue?  Too much?

More adorable baby shoes.  Watermelon and ants on the 4th of July.  Sounds like a picnic to me.

If that purse were a little bigger it could be the picnic basket and I could have matching shoes.

Stupid slingbacks.  But cute!  Apparently I and the nonexistent baby will be going on lots of picnics in all of our fun shoes.

I have no idea where today went, but it disappeared and I feel like I got nothing done.  I hate it when days get sucked into the time vortex.

Hungry

I had another post planned for tonight (spoiler:  shoe shopping!), but then I had a couple of rather large asthma attacks earlier and now I am albuterol-hungover, exhausted, and my chest hurts.  This makes me too tired and lazy to get out of bed to take the pictures I meant to take.  I'm also hungry, but again, getting out of bed = bad.  Since I'm hungry I decided to further torture myself with food-related shoes.  Here are a few of them.  But only the cute ones, because no one needs raw meat shoes so soon after last night's creepiness.

Don't worry, I won't tell you the watermelon bag story AGAIN.  But these are adorable.  I would totally wear them on the 4th of July while spitting watermelon seeds into Flathead Lake.

Mmmm...frosting and sprinkles.

Martini?  There's a lime, so I'm going to go with margarita, since that's my choice of mixed drink.  Plus, this is my blog, so I can make up whatever stuff I want.

If I'm remembering French class correctly, this says something along the lines of red caramel apple shoe.  Which is what it looks like, although I've never seen red caramel.

Cake.  I wish I had cake.

And these are just sweet.  Also, ice cream would be nice.  Almost any variety of chocolate.  Or something really disgustingly decadent like Ben and Jerry's Dublin Mudslide.  I wonder if I gave them the keys if Chalupa and Tallulah would go get me some?

Fruits, Veggies, and Sun

I woke up today in a surprisingly good mood.  It felt really good, and made for a lovely morning.  The hubby and I went for breakfast, and then headed out to the farmer's market for our weekly adventure of getting fruits and vegetables.  We juice a lot, so we buy a ridiculous amount of produce every week.  Which is good, because we get a crap-ton of good nutrients and it gets the hubby to actually ingest fruits and vegetables.  It was 80 degrees or so today (sorry, people who are still stuck in snow), and the sun was shining, so we had a great time walking around and hanging out.  In honor of a very good day, here are some very silly shoes.

These first 2 are different but very similar.  They are both crazy, but I think I want to wear them when I am old enough to be the nieces' crazy old auntie.

Peep toe plaid shoes with plastic fruit on them.  I like the plaid, but the fruit is a little too much, even for crazy old auntie mode.  Still crack me up, though.

Just when I think they can't get crazier...  This time I love the multicolored fabric.  I actually kind of like the aesthetic of the grape cluster heel, but only as shoe art and not an actual shoe.  Although I do live where there are lots of wineries...

Even pink, I kind of love these.  I wonder if they come in red?  They should since strawberries are red, but I would wear these in my more whimsical moods.

Awww...baby watermelon shoes!  They had adult ones, too, but these were way cuter.  And they remind of the watermelon bag at my grandma's house that held all of the barbie stuff.

Fruit shoes.  Way less nutritional than real fruit, but a lot more whimsical and whacky.
