Happy Birthday, Hubby!

Today is the hubby's birthday, and he is what I am grateful for today.  We've been together for a little over 6 years now, and we've certainly had our ups and downs.  Some days he drives me a little bit bonkers and I want to kick him, and I know some days I drive him bonkers back.  When push comes to shove, though, we've go each other's backs and for that I am very grateful.  Plus, he makes me laugh with his goofy sense of humor.  So tonight's shoes are inspired by the hubby.  I've already done a post with our last name, so today I'm using his first name.  Which is just weird because he doesn't go by it, and refuses to answer to it, but I figure the shoes don't mind one way or the other.

These look like something the hubby would wear.  He likes suits, and he has a couple of pairs of wingtips to go with them.

Black shoes are definitely his preference.  Kind of like JG...no wonder they like each other!

Oh wow.  I can't see him wearing these, and I can't say I would blame him.

He wouldn't wear these, either, but I might.

Boy shoes are all well and good, but not very exciting, so here's some hounds tooth for me.

Oooh...and I love this one!

Happy Birthday, hubby.  Love you to the moon and back!

Vampires

I'm moving away from socks today, but not away from Halloween.  Tis the season, after all.  Today I did a search for vampire shoes, which when I think of it is just one more weird thing to type into Google.  My browsing history is full of weird shoe searches.  But we all know I make my own fun, and here are some of the results from that search:

This was one of the first pictures that came up, and for once I don't think the hubby needs any of these.  Are they supposed to be shoes that a vampire would wear?  Shoes that a vampire DID wear and these are the resulting blood spatters?  I don't know, but I'm going with no on these.

These are a definite yes because how goofy and cute are they?  The make me smile.

These do not.  The shoes themselves are just plain ugly.  I could deal with the graphic graphics (heehee), but I can't forgive those ugly-@$$ shoes.

Much better.

Vampire bats count, right?  It's my blog, so I say they do.

Are you tired of the Halloween theme?  Because I'm not!  I need themes in my life to keep me on track and give me ideas for posting.  You'll just have to tune back in once November hits for something different.

Pumpkins

It's almost Halloween, so that means it's time for some pumpkin shoes!

I really want the hubby to wear these for Halloween.  He's such a spoilsport.

Pumpkin shoes for the Pumpkin Seed?

I would totally wear these if the hubby would wear the first pair.  Heck, I'd wear the first pair and be twins with him if I thought I could get him to go along with it.

These are rather strange.  And the frighten me a bit.  They pumpkins look more red than orange, which make me think  blood.

I would also wear these if they came in my size.

I think I might have posted this once before, but I still think it's an adorable picture, and it gives me the opportunity to post this one:

The one time in my life I've ever drawn something freehand and been 99% pleased with how it turned out.  And it's a fake pumpkin so I'm enjoying it again this year.

OK, I realize I titled the post "pumpkins" and then posted most Jack-o-Lanterns, but they're made of pumpkins, right?  Or maybe I should change the title of the post, but I'm too lazy.

Nice

I'm posting on my phone tonight because my laptop is at the office because I went to the bank.  That sentence makes no sense, right? So, I went to the bank today to make a deposit. When I was done I got in the car and backed out of my parking space. So far so good, until I tried to shift into drive. I couldn't do it. I shifted into park and then couldn't shift at all. I tried turning the car off, and then it wouldn't start. So I  was stuck, blocking traffic in the bank parking lot. I called the hubby, and then had to start telling annoyed people I couldn't move my car out of the way. While I was waiting for the hubby, 2 very nice bank employees came out to help me push the car to a parking space, but of course we couldn't because it wouldn't shit into neutral. They both started googling the problem, and by the time the hubby got there they had found what to do and, along with the hubby, spent about 10-15 minutes getting it to actually work and moving the car while I called roadside assistance. The car got towed to the shop and the hubby and I took Uber home. My quick trip to the bank ended up taking around 4 hours and a lot of frustration. But those 2 guys were were incredibly nice and helpful, so this post is for them.

I dont really know much about men's shoes, but I like all of these, and they would all work with suits in a professional setting. Those men will most likely never see this post, but I'll send my thanks out into the universe anyway.

Mardi Gras

Wow, it's Mardi Gras already.  Mardi Gras/Fat Tuesday/Shrove Tuesday is the day before Lent starts, and Lent is starting early this year.  It's not the earliest it can start, but it's close, which means that Easter will be the end of March.  Normally this is the day when I try to eat as much chocolate as possible without actually throwing up.  I'm not sure if I'm giving up chocolate this year, though.  I'm thinking of taking something on.  A friend posted this link on Facebook of some alternate ideas for Lent, and there's some good stuff, so I might incorporate an idea or two.  In the meantime, I shall post shoes, which currently seems to be the only discipline I can sort of maintain.  I did a Mardi Gras post last year as well, but I tried to find different shoes to share.

These are crazy, but I would totally wear them somewhere Mardi Gras related.  Not actual Mardi Gras, because I wouldn't want to walk around in these for any length of time.  Plus, the streets during Mardi Gras are disgusting with random bodily fluids, so my toes would need to be better protected.

These are festive, but not my favorite.

Also festive!  And clearly DIY.  The imaginary hubby needs them.

Um...

Much more practical for lots of walking in disgusting conditions.

Ric rac!  I don't know why I'm excited about ric rac, but I am.  And these are crazy, but I might wear them.

Much more practical for walking, but they'd be filthy in no time.  I'd wear these to a Pancake supper or something.  Or just to the office on Fat Tuesday.

Now that we've looked at shoes I release you to go crazy and get whatever you're giving up out of your system!

Too Late

So, I've made a few changes to the blog.   Blogger had some new background options, so I thought I'd give the books a try.  I know, it's a blog about shoes, not books, so maybe this is weird, but I also love books.  Is it too weird?  I also added the the Follow button off to your right.  If you want to know when I've done a new post, you can click on the follow button, put in your email, and the blog will send the post right to you.  Or maybe I'm being presumptuous that you will want to follow.  Gaaaah, now my blog is weird AND presumptive!

Moving on to what is hopefully neither a weird nor presumptive post.  It's a post about fun ideas that come too late.  The other day a friend posted the following on Facebook:

Dang!  3+ years too late!  The Bean, Flower, and Laughter would have looked sooo cute wearing my shoes with their  flower girl dresses.  Somebody needs to get me a Tardis so I can go back in time and fix this.

A day or so after this was posted the Pinterest Friend sent me a link to this article which contains, among others, the following pictures as possible wedding shoe pictures:

I hate those shoes first off.  But the picture is kind of cute.  I doubt I would do one like it, but it's a fun suggestion.

I suppose I could actually do this picture now since I do still have the shoes and the rings.  Would it be weird to do it 3 years later?  Yes, probably.

I think this is adorable.  And I don't have to be sad about not doing it because I didn't wear tennies and neither did the hubby.  But I do wish I'd gotten a picture of our feet together.  As his shoes were rented, we can not recreate the opportunity.

Who climbs a tree in their wedding dress?  This is crazy.  And I also would totally do it if I thought I could get away with it without ripping my dress, getting it filthy, or falling out of the tree and breaking something.

Again...rented shoes.  BUT, I could always do it with some every day shoes.

This one is my favorite.  I really wish I'd gotten a picture with the bridesmaids and their shoes.  Sadness.

Dangnabbit, people, don't post stuff many years past the time when I need good ideas!  You're supposed to be my friends and help me out in the creativity department.  Please try to anticipate any possible shoe-related picture that might arise in the remainder of my life and send me those ideas in a timely fashion.  Thank you.

Emotions

Have you seen the movie Inside Out? The hubby and I watched it tonight and it was really cute. It's also a really bad idea to watch a movie about complicated emotions when my emotions are overly complicated right now. Yep, I totally cried because I am pathetic. I shall move on by looking at shoes.

Joy is all golden, but she has blue hair. I really need to find more joy in my life.

Anger is red and his head lights on fire when he gets really upset.

Sadness is blue of course. They really should have asked me to voice her. I could nail it right now.

Disgust is green and quite stylish.

Fear is purple and wears houndstooth. This is what came up when I typed in lavender houndstooth. It doesn't make sense, and yet is kind of perfect.

All that crying made me tired, so I'm off to bed now.

Epiphany

Happy Epiphany!  The 12 Days of Christmas are now over and today we celebrate the coming of the Magi (or wise men or kings) to the baby Jesus.  Who might have been the toddler Jesus by the time they got there.  So...Epiphany...kings...royalty...purple.  Yep, I'll take my themes however I can make them up:

Sparkly!  Or, if I want to attempt to stretch the Epiphany thing a little further, the sparkles are like the star that the Magi followed.

I don't think I can stretch the theme for everything, so I'm not going to try.  But these are pretty, and I like them.

I'm not terribly fond of the detailing on the toe box, but I love the purple plaid.

Polka dots!

Of course the PB needs some Epiphany shoes.  How sweet are these?

And the hubby can have some Epiphany shoes for his imaginary shoe closet, too.

I hope your Epiphany is lovely, and possibly involves random strangers bringing you gifts.
