Who Knew Laundry Was So Tiring?

I am so very far behind on so very many things in life right now. Some days I feel like I'm so far behind eventually I'm going to come around and encounter myself. So, of course I'm writing a blog post instead of actually accomplishing things. Tonight I'm blaming this stupid cold that's continuing to hang around. In good news, it's not affecting my lungs as much, which is good, but I've blown my nose so many times I think it might fall off at some point. The hubby is also sick and has spent the entire day in bed. I managed to get up and go to the store earlier, but have spent a good chunk of the day in bed as well. In the last hour I folded laundry and cleaned the kitchen and now I'm exhausted. This cold is no joke.

I figured looking at shoes would cheer me up and wouldn't involve a lot of energy, and I was right. I typed in "laundry shoes" and found a brand called Chinese Laundry. I really like these two pairs:

They're all the things I like: Blue! Stripes! Wedges! Ankle strap! I rarely wear heels anymore, but I still very much like to look at them.

Well, it's 8:30 and time to sleep, or at least read for awhile and then sleep.

Polka Dots

Since I did stripes last night I decided I needed to do polka dots tonight.  Because polka dots also make me happy.  Also, one of my nieces used to call them "polka nuts" which makes me giggle, and I'll take all of the giggles I can get these days.  Also also, I decided to only do wedges tonight because I seem to be slightly obsessed with wedges lately and want a whole closet full of them (a real one, not just an imaginary one).

Would I wear orange polka dot wedges?  Yes, I would.  Do I wish these had an ankle strap?  Yes, I do.

A world of yes.  You can never have too many pairs of red shoes.

I'm not in love with the fabric on the wedge, but love the rest.

Stripes AND polka dots!  I wish the stripes were the blue rather than black (or possible navy?  But I think black).

See how much cuter the orange ones would be with an ankle strap?  I can go either way on the bow, but I do love an ankle strap.

Turquoise!  Or possible sky blue.  But I really don't care because you know I love all things blue.  Probably why half of the shoes in this post are blue.  I know you're terribly shocked.

It was a fairly good day.  The hope remains alive, for which I am grateful.  The downside of the day?  Cleaning toilets (ugh), puppies who have decided that peeing on the dining room carpet is way more fun than going outside (grrr), and Squirtle, who pooped on the bath mat this morning before I could get her in the tub (she's been eating berries, which are lovely, but do not come out the other end so nice).   Also, allergies that made the left side of my face decided to try and explode, implode, or just plode.

Stripes

Tonight I decided I needed some heels in my life.  I don't really wear them anymore, that there's no reason I can't do a little window shopping for the imaginary shoe closet. I'm in the mood to stripes, so here are some stripey heels:

These would be cute in blue and white stripes, too.

I both like this and don't.  I'm not sue what it is that's slightly off-putting, though.

This is a little bit crazy, but I like it.  I wear a lot of black and this would add a pop of color.

Not a fan of the colors on these, particularly.

Love these.  They're like Monet inspired stripes.

Yes, please.  I think I need an imaginary shoe closet just full of wedges.  Or maybe a real closet full of wedges (they're easier to walk in than stilettos, you know).

Ah...I feel better.  Stripes always help.

A Day of Many Things

Today, as the title suggests, is one of many things. First, it's Sunday and I actually went to church.  A friend of mine is the Priest in Charge at the Episcopal church here that I occasionally go to, and she asked if I would help with Sunday School this year.  So I went to church (it was Youth Sunday where they talked about what they learned in Kids Kamp, and all those little voices in the service made me happy) and then had lunch with the priest and the current Sunday School teacher with whom I'll be working.  I figure it's one way to start to get back and involved in church since I've been doing a crap job of it on my own.

In other news, today is Yellow Pig Day, which apparently is a mathematician's holiday.  Check out the link if you want to know more.  In the meantime here are some yellow pig shoes:

Yellow pigs kind of scare me a little bit.

Pink pigs on yellow shoes are better.

Today is also World Emoji Day.  Although, like Social Media Day, isn't every day kind of emoji day?

I don't necessarily want to wear either pair, but they are fun.  I like the bright colors on the black pair better.

It's also National Ice Cream Day!  This is definitely a holiday I can get behind.  We had frozen yogurt this afternoon, so that kind of counts as celebrating?

I've posted ice cream shoes before, but I don't think I've posted these?  I'm fairly certain about the pink pair and I'm positive I haven't posted the pair with the chocolate sprinkles.  Because you know me and chocolate.

It's also Peach Ice Cream Day, which seemed odd to me until I realized that National Ice Cream Day is the 3rd Sunday in July and Peach Ice Cream day is actually July 17, so they just happened to coincide this year.

This is what came up when I did the search for peach ice cream shoes.  They're very pretty, but do they remind me of peach ice cream?  Not really.  Too orange.  Which means they are perfect for SKD!

AND, it's National Tattoo Day!  I had no idea there was a holiday.  Now I do.  I should have done something for my 4 tattoos to celebrate.  I wonder what that would be?  Extra lotion?  They're own social media pages?  The perfect way to celebrate would be to get a 5th one, but the hubby might divorce me...

These are both odd, but kind of interesting.  And WAY better than some of the crazy-@$$ pictures of shoes that people have tattooed on themselves. You know I love me some shoes, but it has never once crossed my mind to get a tattoo of them.

Dang, July 17th is a busy day.  Finally, it's Scout's birthday!  Scout, you might remember, is Pippi's and Tink's big sister, and she turned 21 today.  Which makes me old.  Sigh.  Here is a picture of the 2 of us when I was about the same age she is now.

She was beautiful then and she's beautiful now, inside and out.

Summer

I'm over summer already, and have decided to move to Siberia or the Antarctic.  Sorry for the TMI so soon in the post, but I'm incredibly tired of sweating through my underpants on a daily basis.  To cheer myself up I typed "summer wedges" into image search and here are a few of my favorites:

Now I'm both cheered up and sad that I can't go out and buy a bunch of new pairs of wedges.  All I can say is thank goodness for AC.

Picnics

Saturday was something to do with picnics, and I went off in search of shoes for a post.  But then the hubby and I had our X-Men date night and I did that post instead.  Yesterday was Father's Day, so I had the obvious post topic there, which means I'm getting to picnics a couple of days later than whatever holiday it was over the weekend.  But picnics can be any day, really, so better late than never.  Not that I went on an actual picnic today, but at least there are shoes.

This is kind of weird, and and yet I like it. Why do picnics mean plaid, though?

See?  More plaid?  I think I'd prefer a different, non-polka dotted bow, but the wedge is a good, practical choice if you need/want to go tromping over possibly uneven ground in heels.

Not practical in the least, but soooooo cute.

So, checked picnic blanket or table cloth and ants, but what are the yellow laces?  Sometimes when I glance at the picture they look like french fries.  French fries aren't my first choice for picnic food, but sure, why not?

I'm 2 days late and a whole picnic short, but at least there were some interesting shoes.

June Bug

Today is June Bug Day, which isn't terribly exciting for the bugs themselves as June Bugs aren't exactly cute.  It's actually fun for me because of the hubby.  He is a Junior, so sometimes his parents call him June Bug, which I think is adorable.  He probably hates that I just shared that, but come, how cute is that nickname?  So in honor of my little June Bug's day, here are some June Bug shoes:

The pattern here is supposed to look like abstract June Bugs.  I think.  I like the colors.

These make no sense until

you see the backs! Then someone designed and made them for their own little June Bug, which is sweet.

I think these are from a wedding website with June Bug in the title?  I could be remembering that incorrectly.  I'd like them better if they were blue.  Duh.

I can't even pretend I remember, but I like the flowers and the colors.

I'm 90% sure these have June Bug in their name.  I like them, but I keep seeing giraffe print instead of cut-out flowers on the wedge, so then I like them less.  Not that I have anything against giraffes, I'm just not a huge fan of animal print.

I'm blaming my lack of memory on too much time in the office.  We didn't get home until after 10 last night and left again by 7:20 this morning.  Who knows what time we'll be done tonight.  I'm less achy today but my throat is still sore and I've developed a lovely seal cough.  Maye I can sneak in a nap somehow?  Wish me luck!

Miscellaneous

June 1st has quite the list of holidays to be celebrated:

Hey!  I wore a dress today!  And I have parents (who are awesome!)  And I love children and definitely stand for them!  I think I said nice things to people today.  (I hope?)  I'm all the time taking my shoes off under my desk, so I went barefoot.  Thankfully I didn't have to use the Heimlich Maneuver, though.

Now here are some shoes for the day:

Because you can never have too many pairs of Oscar the Grouch shoes.  Or is that just me?

I very much want both of these, please.

Eh, neither are to my taste, really, but you know I appreciate a good theme shoe.

Aaaaand now back to work.  Maybe we'll get home before 9:00 tonight.  Wouldn't that be nice?

Receptionist

Today is National Receptionists Day, and I'm a receptionist.  Sort of.  It's one of the hats I wear at work at any rate.  I like hats, but this is a shoe blog, so we'll look at shoes.  Duh.  I don't really wear heels much these days, and none of what follows are terribly practical for 8-12 hour days, but they can all go in the new Imaginary Receptionist Closet.

I have comments, I'm just too tired to write anything clever, or even not clever.  I'm just tired.  I feel like I'm tired all the time lately.
