Mardi Gras

Wow, it's Mardi Gras already.  Mardi Gras/Fat Tuesday/Shrove Tuesday is the day before Lent starts, and Lent is starting early this year.  It's not the earliest it can start, but it's close, which means that Easter will be the end of March.  Normally this is the day when I try to eat as much chocolate as possible without actually throwing up.  I'm not sure if I'm giving up chocolate this year, though.  I'm thinking of taking something on.  A friend posted this link on Facebook of some alternate ideas for Lent, and there's some good stuff, so I might incorporate an idea or two.  In the meantime, I shall post shoes, which currently seems to be the only discipline I can sort of maintain.  I did a Mardi Gras post last year as well, but I tried to find different shoes to share.

These are crazy, but I would totally wear them somewhere Mardi Gras related.  Not actual Mardi Gras, because I wouldn't want to walk around in these for any length of time.  Plus, the streets during Mardi Gras are disgusting with random bodily fluids, so my toes would need to be better protected.

These are festive, but not my favorite.

Also festive!  And clearly DIY.  The imaginary hubby needs them.

Um...

Much more practical for lots of walking in disgusting conditions.

Ric rac!  I don't know why I'm excited about ric rac, but I am.  And these are crazy, but I might wear them.

Much more practical for walking, but they'd be filthy in no time.  I'd wear these to a Pancake supper or something.  Or just to the office on Fat Tuesday.

Now that we've looked at shoes I release you to go crazy and get whatever you're giving up out of your system!

Last Day of 2015

Can you believe we're at the end of another year?  The calendar was celebratory with sparkles:

Pink this year.  One of the few themes I've seen from the calendar is sparkly shoes for New Year's Eve.  2014 was a crazy sparkly wedge, and 2013 was a rather odd silver sparkly shoe.  I think this year's offering is my favorite of the 3.

I was excited to see a familiar book pop up on the last day of the book calendar this morning:

And then I read the description.  If you've read the book you'll understand my disappointment in the blurb.  Did this person actually read the book?

Tomorrow will mark the first day in 3 years that I won't have a shoe calendar to look at, how crazy is that?  I don't always include the calendar shoes in the blog, but I do enjoy the moment each morning when I get to turn over the next page and see what craziness or awesomeness awaits.

Oh well.  I did a quick google of New Year's Eve shoes:

I agree with the calendar that New Year's shoes should be sparkly, and apparently Google agrees with us.

I think I'd like these better if they had a different heel.  This one is too chunky and overwhelming.

Ooooh...fancy!  Now these are some celebratory shoes.

I love the colors.  The feathers are hilarious to me, though.  I just can't picture myself in feathered shoes.

Regardless of whether your shoes are flats or heels, feathered or sparkly, I hope you have a very happy New Year!

Raaaaiiiiin!

I'm listening to the wonderful rain right now, and it's lovely.  It has rained all day, and I have enjoyed every minute of it, especially since we so desperately need it right now.  And rain means rainbows, right?  OK, not right now because it's dark.  Geez, you're so literal.  I was just trying for a segue into the fact that the PF recently sent me a series of rainbow shoes.  I should actually write "recently" as she sent them 16 days ago.  This is what happens when I don't post regularly!  Although I do now have a backlog of ideas that I can work my way shoes.  But back to rainbows.  I did a post of rainbow shoes a while ago, but now we have a whole new selection to ogle:

Ohmygoshcute.  I think this might be the same yarn I also made into baby shoes fairly recently, but those pale in comparison to these.  Gaaaah...perfectionist button pushed!

PF said something about the 90s with these.  Absolutely.  The decade that brought us giant, clunky, spongy heels.

Barbie shoes!  I have no idea who would think of something like this, or take the time to do it, but it's definitely different and interesting.  Probably art of some kind.  This is what Pinterest is for:  for people to make random things and post them so that others of us can then randomly post their random posts!

Stripey.  T-strap.  Rainbow.  Should be perfect, right?  It's just a little off for me.  Maybe it's the white stripes (not the band)?  The lack of green, purple, and indigo?  Or the clunky heel?  Not sure.

These were one of my choices for the last post as well.  Great minds think alike!

Oh.  Wow. These are crazy.  It's like a parrot and a shoe had a baby.  Is it weird that I kind of like them?

No.  First off, platform, peep toe booties.  No.  Plus, I'm pretty sure the bedazzler threw up.

Same clunky heel as above, but this time I love them. PF said they reminded her of Rainbow Bright.  I can totally see that.  I never got into Rainbow Bright as a kid, but the shoe version might convert me.

Shoe color wheel!  Pretty, and it can help you determine which colors each shoe will go with!

This last one is hilarious.  It's like the saying:  Don't like the weather?  Wait 5 minutes and it will change.  I would totally wear these as part of some kind of costume.

Good night, all. The hubby and I are wild and crazy tonight.  We went to bed at 8:00.  Hubby has been snoozing for about an hour, and I'm about to follow.  Mom said after last night's post that I'm not old, yet, but this might prove her wrong.

Again???

I have ANOTHER sinus infection.  I counted, and this is my 15th since August of last year.  That's insane.  I tried to get into my ENT but they couldn't see me until Tuesday, so I went to Urgent Care.  The PA came in, asked me what I thought was wrong, looked in my ears and throat, listened to my lungs, and said, "yep.  You didn't need a Dr. to tell you what you already knew.  Let's get you some antibiotics."  Sigh.  It's all very annoying on multiple levels.  I decided I needed some shoes to cheer me up.  I bought slippers today, so these would have to be on-line shoes.  I like to type random things into the image search, so today I typed "cheerful shoes:"

I have no idea what these are.  Magnets?  Shivs?  They are certainly bright, so I suppose that qualifies as cheerful.

I'm not sure I would necessarily qualify these as cheerful.  They are definitely bright, but they remind me of something Katniss would wear as the "girl on fire" in The Hunger Games, which was decidedly not cheerful.

Stripes and rainbows!  Definitely cheerful in my world.  Although they kind of look like someone did the stripes with sharpies.

Awww...butterflies.  Double A would love these.

Oh, hush.  You knew they were coming.  These are bright and fun and adorable.

So, it turns out you get different shoes when typing in cheerful shoes as opposed to happy shoes.  I still feel like crap, but I am now marginally more cheerful.  Think it's time to go to the pharmacy and see if my prescriptions are ready.  Oh joy.

Slippahs

I went to Target this morning to buy toothpaste.  OK, we actually really do need toothpaste, but I actually went to stress shop.  It was a bit of a rough morning and walking around Target usually helps.  I was just going to buy some chocolate, but then I found slippers:

Comfy, cute slippers are awesome for stress, right?  Especially when they are on sale!  I proceeded to wear them all day at church and I may or may not have worn them while preaching tonight during worship...

While I was in the halls in my slippers one of the preschool teachers (who also happens to be the Pinterest Friend) told me about a woman she saw the other day who was wearing high heeled slippers.  Now, when I hear that phrase, I tend to think of 50s movies where the woman is wearing a peignoir and something like this:

(Not the bunnies.  The bunnies are just hilarious to me).  But no, she said they were like really hideous bedroom slippers, but with heels, and she really wanted to take a picture for me, but couldn't do it in a way that wouldn't be noticed.  So of course I went looking, but I couldn't find anything that sounded like what she described.  I did find a couple of odd examples, though:

These aren't bad. I don't think slippers need a heel, but I suppose a wedge makes more sense than a stiletto.

These are just weird.  Definitely heels.  Fuzzy, yellow, heels.  They look like someone killed a baby muppet and made shoes.  They are wrong on many levels.  But, I also found these:

I have no idea why these are necessary.  But they are hilarious.  And clearly my imaginary baby needs a pair!  I could totally make these...

Feathers

I don't know if I was stressed or what last night, but I had some crazy dreams.  The only one I really remember is this:  I was looking at the bottom of my feet and there were tiny little black things sticking out of them.  So I grabbed a pair of tweezers and pulled.  Out came several feathers.  Not little feathers, these were 6-8 inches long.  So I pulled out another set, and another.  I have no idea how long I did this, or if I woke up before the process was over.  Weird.  And creepy.  One friend asked me what it meant?  That I needed feather shoes?  I have no idea what that dream meant, but feather shoes sounded like the perfect subject for a post!

Not too crazy.  Fairly subtle, actually, for feathers.  They look itchy, though.

Wow.  These are crazy.  They look like something out of Dr. Seuss.  Actually, my mom and seester tried to talk me into putting a feathery thing very similar to this on my head for the wedding.  But again, Dr. Seuss.

Oh dear.  No.  Just  no.  These are awful.  Maybe for some kind of theme?  Maybe for Halloween?  Even then I'm not sure I could stick my foot in them.

I  kind of like these.  I don't think I would wear them, but of course I like their color!

I also like the color on these.  They remind me of something Katniss might have worn with her Girl on Fire dress in the Hunger Games.

So.  Feather Shoes.  I don't think I'm going to rush right out and buy a pair.  They were fun to look at, though.  And there are lots more of them if you want to go check them out and find your favorite design.
