I Wasn't Aware

NO I'M NOT YELLING AT YOU, IT'S JUST THAT TODAY IS INTERNATIONAL CAPS LOCK DAY AND THIS SEEMS LIKE THE BEST WAY TO CELEBRATE.

That's enough celebrating.  I can't type in all caps, it drives me crazy because it looks angry.  Yesterday was Reptile Awareness Day and I clearly wasn't aware.  Poor bearded dragons should have gotten to celebrate, but I was lacking in awareness.  I might have to give them meal worms today to make up for it.  In the meantime, let's look at some reptile shoes.

So first the bearded dragon gets split in 2 and then we step on its face?  Sooooo rude.

Oh. Dear. Gods.  Why do these exist?  And who buys them?

I need a palate cleanser after that last pair.  Baby turtles (turtle baby shoes?) are much better.

Poisonous frog rain boots!

Zazzle really does have everything.  Orange gecko high tops.  Black, orange, and white were my school colors, and are the school colors for all of the nieces (3 different schools in 3 different towns, all the same school colors). I should get these for the nieces.

OK, I know dragons aren't real, but these were too cute to pass up.  No one said reptile awareness day was only for real reptiles.

Enjoy your Saturday, whatever it might entail, just please don't type in all caps.

Fleep Flop Art

It's National Flip Flop Day!  Which is awesome for all of you flip flop lovers out there, I hope you wore your favorite pair.  Me, I only wear fleep flops in certain circumstances, and I'm never terribly happy about it, so you wouldn't think I'd celebrate such a day.  But then the Pinterest Friend sent me this:

Flip flop art!  How adorable is this?  I like flip flops just fine, as long as I don't have to wear them. This also takes care of my other issues with flip flops, which is that you can't see the cute part because you are stepping on it.

Patriotic flip flop wreath!  I kind of want to find some really cheap flip flops now, and make one.

Oh, adorable.  Love it.

Blue for me, green for Double A, Mom, and SKD!

There are a million bazillion wreath ideas out there, and I totally got sucked into perusing them this afternoon.

You know what else is fun for National Flip Flop Day?

Cake!  Every day is better with cake!

See?  How adorable is this?  I'm not fond of fondant, but it makes for adorable decorations, and I'm sure the cake inside is quite yummy.

Or, if you want to DIY and go a little simpler, there's this idea.

So, you can wear flip flops, create flip flop wreaths, eat flip flop cake and make...

Flip flop sculptures!  Yep, that's a ginormous turtle made out of flip flops.

Here you can see the flip flops in more detail, although I'm not sure what exactly is going on here.  Is it a sock monkey that got drunk and passed out?  Was it supposed to be sitting on the fence and it just fell over?

I think this one is pretty cool.  It's like a tattoo, only a sculpture.  And made out of flip flops.

So, don't throw those old fleep flops away.  Bake yourself some flip flop cake, dig out all the flip flops you don't wear anymore, and get creative!  I'll be over on Pinerest, waiting for your creations...

World Turtle Day

Have I told you lately how awesome my mama is?  After reading the patchwork post the other night she went online and ordered me these:

I got them yesterday, how fun are they?  She's the bestest.  Oh, and speaking of patchwork and mamas, my mama--in-law got her afghan and loved it.  Yay!

Since my last post was already about patchwork, we'll move on for tonight.  Did you know that today was World Turtle Day?  Now you do!  Which means turtle shoes!

Oh my goodness.  Turtle slippers for the puppies!  Also, it's my duty as the puppy mama to say that my puppies are cuter, even this one is no slouch in the cute department.  My puppies might have to get turtle slippers for Christmas/birthday.

And Mom and Dad could have slippers, too!

This is just adorable.  I think I might love turtle shoes.

These are like a preschool art project.  And yet?  Still adorable.

This seals it.  I need kids to go with the puppies and the whole family needs turtle shoes.

Yep. Family turtle shoes.  Need them.

In other news, I had a Skype interview today with a church.  It went fairly well, I think, despite all of my anxiety dreams beforehand.  They seem very nice, their paperwork was actually kind of exciting to me, and now we'll see.  They're kind of far away in terms of commuting, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.  First I have to see if they want a second interview (they have 7 people total to interview), and then who knows?

Turtles. Just Because

Well, I didn't make my goal last night of being in bed before midnight.  I crawled in at 12:08.  That sort of counts, right?  OK, not really.  Maybe if I shoot for 11:45 tonight I'll make it by midnight?  Oh well, the ongoing quest for a normal sleep pattern continues.

Let's talk about shoes instead of sleep.  They're more fun anyway.

So, turtles!  Why turtles?  I think the question here should be why NOT turtles?  And for some reason that was the word that popped in my head when I sat down to write tonight.

And look how cute they are!  The hubby wanted turtles when we were first together, and I thought they were really cute, but then he decided he wanted bearded dragons.  Which don't look as cute on shoes.  I imagine.

And water is blue, so blue shoes.  Even better!

Did I mention I like the blue?

Oh man, these are cute.  If I didn't hate the think between my toes, I would definitely want these.

I like the turtles on the heels.  The shoes themselves are way too clunky, though.

Are these supposed to look like they're made out of turtle shell?  With little turtles on them?  Isn't that mean to those poor turtles to make them sit on shoes made out of their own shells?

And that's enough out of me for one night.  There is a spreadsheet with my name on it, and then to bed.  No, really.
