Love Your Pet Day

February 20 is Love Your Pet Day!  I'm guessing for most people with pets, that's pretty much every day, but today is the day you're supposed to spoil them even more, maybe?  The puppies are having a special day in that they got to come to the office with us.  This used to be fairly common in the old office, but since we moved they haven't come with us.  Unfortunately, part of the fence in our backyard blew down last night so they had to come with us so they didn't decide to go hang out with the neighbors or try to explore the wider world.  I like having them here.  The dragons stayed home, but Mondays are freeze-dried mealworm day for them, so at least they got a little treat.  Speaking of the dragons, last night I had a dream that one of the eggs hatched.  The baby was teeny-eensy-tiny, so I reached in to grab it to put it in a different cage, away from the adults.  As I was picking it up, Bulbasaur ran over and ate it!  The hubby said he had a similar dream a couple of nights ago.  I really don't think any of the eggs will actually hatch, but clearly my subconscious is stressed about what will happen if they do.

So, shoes.  Since it's Love Your Pet Day, I thought I'd do a variety of pets, not just puppies and dragons, because I've already done multiple posts on both.

Of course, I had to start with puppies and dragons.  I LOVE these.  Love.  Want.

Oh my goodness, the PB needs these!  They make me smile just looking at them.

The hubby isn't a cat fan.  I like cats, but am terribly allergic.  I don't think these would make me sneeze, though.
I've never personally had pet fish.  I once fish-sat for some friends in seminary.  One of the fish died on my watch...

I don't actually know anyone who has a pet hedgehog, but there are a ton of adorable videos on Facebook, so someone somewhere must have one.

Birdies!  I think these are incredibly sweet baby shoes.  Very Easter-y!

Obviously there are lots more pets in the world, but this is just a sampling. So, what kinds of pets do you have?  Anything unusual?  Let me know and I might have to do another post with different animals!

Dragons

Apparently this week is just going to be one of eye-rolling experiences.  It's Monday, so second day of the week, and I'm 2 for 2 so far.  At least I didn't set any alarms off today. This afternoon the hubby asked me to go to Home Depot to get some stuff for the office.  We had a gift card from last week when we returned a few things, so off I went.  I got in the car and went on auto pilot.  I got to the store, got the stuff, got in line, and checked out.  When it came time to pay I handed the cashier the gift card to which she replied (in a completely disgusted tone), "we don't take Home Depot cards."  Which was when I snapped into reality and realized auto pilot had taken me to Lowe's.  "Oh good grief," I said, "I can't believe I just did that!"  In the meantime she is making all kinds of faces at me: rolling her eyes and bugging them out, looking at the guy behind me and making more faces.  I told her I was really sorry but that I actually needed to use the gift card so I needed to not complete the purchase.  She heaved a huge sigh and said, "really?" with more faces.  I apologized again and walked out.  Was I a moron?  Yes.  But seriously?  The entire encounter took about 2 minutes out of her entire day, and I only had 4 items.  So it's not like it was a huge effort on her part to reverse the process.  Maybe she was having a crappy day or something.  I tried not to meet her rudeness with more rudeness, but I was annoyed and embarrassed.  Boy, do I love being a total moron 2 days in a row.

Moving on.  Today's Facebook memories reminded me that January 16 is Appreciate a Dragon Day, which is what I wrote last year's post on.  I know I did it last year, but I figured dragon shoes would take my mind off of my moron status.

Dragon shoes!  I don't think my dragons care about my shoes one way or the other, as long as I give them warm baths and yummy meal worms.  And occasionally snuggle them.

This picture is from Saturday morning.  Squirtle kept leaving to go explore and try to jump off the bed, but Bulbasaur and Charmander just snuggled right in on my neck and shoulder and hung out for almost an hour.  Also, if you had asked me 7 years ago if I would ever have (and enjoy having) bearded dragons as pets, I would have said no way in heck!  Never say never.

I Wasn't Aware

NO I'M NOT YELLING AT YOU, IT'S JUST THAT TODAY IS INTERNATIONAL CAPS LOCK DAY AND THIS SEEMS LIKE THE BEST WAY TO CELEBRATE.

That's enough celebrating.  I can't type in all caps, it drives me crazy because it looks angry.  Yesterday was Reptile Awareness Day and I clearly wasn't aware.  Poor bearded dragons should have gotten to celebrate, but I was lacking in awareness.  I might have to give them meal worms today to make up for it.  In the meantime, let's look at some reptile shoes.

So first the bearded dragon gets split in 2 and then we step on its face?  Sooooo rude.

Oh. Dear. Gods.  Why do these exist?  And who buys them?

I need a palate cleanser after that last pair.  Baby turtles (turtle baby shoes?) are much better.

Poisonous frog rain boots!

Zazzle really does have everything.  Orange gecko high tops.  Black, orange, and white were my school colors, and are the school colors for all of the nieces (3 different schools in 3 different towns, all the same school colors). I should get these for the nieces.

OK, I know dragons aren't real, but these were too cute to pass up.  No one said reptile awareness day was only for real reptiles.

Enjoy your Saturday, whatever it might entail, just please don't type in all caps.

Big P, Little p, What Begins With P?

Yesterday a friend posted this on my facebook timeline:

It's a "winged, purple dragon" and it's adorable and fierce.   I'm just glad it's not real or we'd probably have to get 3 and then I'd be the mother of 6 dragons, 3 of which can fly.  I'll stick with the beardies, thank you.  But it did make me go look for purple dragon shoes:

This is a Disney ornament, which makes me like a lot better than when I thought it was an actual shoe.  I'm not sure it's a shoe I want for my shoe tree, but I do like that the dragons go some love in the shoe/ornament department.

These I love.  I might need some purple dragon tennies for days when I need a little extra confidence.  Don't mess with me...I'm wearing my purple dragon tennies!

The Pinterest Friend also sent me a picture on Facebook yesterday, although of something I'd already seen as I'd made it.  Here is Pedro modeling my newest newborn prop for the PF's photography business.

3 Peas in a pod!  Or in this case, 3 peas and Pedro in a pod!  I had extra green yarn after making Pedro's St. Patrick's day hat and had a pattern for this newborn prop.  Pedro looks so cute in it I almost didn't send it to the PF.  So of course I had to also go look for pea pod shoes:

Who wears pea pod flip flops?  I'm not judging, just genuinely curious.

These are tiny, as evidenced by the penny at the bottom.  I have no idea what these are for.

In case the PB ever needs pea pod shoes.

I think that's enough P words for one day, don't you?

Memory Lane: 2013.

Bookshelves

Today is Clean Out Your Bookcase Day.  I am not OK with this.  That's maybe a little more melodramatic than it needs to be as I do occasionally go through my bookshelves and donate books, especially if I'm moving.  I just don't want a day dedicated this purpose.  It makes me sad, not celebratory.  But it does give me an excuse to post more book shoes!

I want all of these!  The last 4 are from Zazzle which continues to impress me with the amount of themed tennis shoes they have.  I have no plans to clean off a bookshelf today, but I would gladly fill up a bookshelf with some of these shoes!

Today is also Love Your Pet Day, but I do that every day, so I'm just giving you one picture for each kind of pet we have.

Crochet puppy shoes!  I should make some.

And I love these dragon baby shoes.  So fierce.  The PB definitely needs a pair.

Memory Lane: 2013. 2014.

3 Things:
  1. I DO love my pets!  The puppies are so loving and snuggly, and the dragons are rather fascinating, and surprisingly sweet.
  2. I got my eyebrows waxed for the first time since September today.  I found a thing on Facebook with a woman at a new place offering free services for the month of February.  I made an appointment for eyebrows and lip, but she offered to do my whole face (including my nostrils, which doesn't hurt like you'd think, but man it's WEIRD).  Now I have two eyebrows instead of just one and I no longer look like a muppet!
  3. The hubby and I are having a lazy day after a long (but good) week of training and getting to know the new employees.

Appreciation

Today, according to my handy dandy holidays tracker, is Dragon Appreciation Day.  Who knew?  Not me, at any rate.  Poor dragons didn't get special appreciation today.  They did get the usual amount, like a morning bath in nice, warm water.  If I'd known, I would have given them their favorite treat of yummy (to them) freeze dried meal worms.  They're actually sleeping right now, at least until I decided to take pictures:

Bulbasaur really likes to sleep propped up against the back wall.  His bottom feet are on the lava rock, and he's support himself with his tail, but then he clings to the styrofoam climbing wall.  I don't think it looks comfortable, but he sleeps like this most nights, so it must work.

Charmander prefers stretching out on the log, which seems much more comfortable.  For some reason I think he looks smug in this picture.  Silly dragon.

Squirtle is our fort builder.  She likes to dig and make herself little nests.  I added the arrow just in case you weren't sure where to find her in the picture.  When she hibernates this is the spot she likes to be.  Also when the boys annoy her.  I think she's an introvert like me.

I posted a couple of weeks ago on Squirtle's and Charmander's birthday, but thought I'd post again and give you some actual pictures of our non-fur babies.

So no on to the shoes.  I think I've posted these before, but couldn't find where.  There is this post about dragons, but it doesn't include these shoes, so I'm not sure where I posted them before.  I like these, even if they are starting at me.

This is so cool!  I like the blue, of course, but I also really like the design.  It's intricate and interesting.

Hmmm...as mother of dragons, do I need these?  Probably.

Whoa.  Damn.  Yikes.

I like these.  I think?  The dragons are kind of squished into the wedge so they look like they are being squashed as you walk on them.  Or maybe I'm just overly sensitive.

At any rate, Happy Dragon Appreciation Day!  You don't have to appreciate my dragon babies, but maybe there is a kind of dragon you do appreciate.  PuffPete's DragonDragon Tales? Game of Thrones? The Reluctant Dragon? I'm sure there are a million other choices, so whatever makes you happy!

Speaking of happy, we finally got some good news today!  Sorry to be vague, but I'm going to wait until the good news is a little more solidified before sharing, but in the meantime let me just say thank you so much for your prayers, good thoughts, and support!

January

Have I mentioned lately that the Pinterest Friend is awesome?  Yesterday was Charmander's and Squirtle's  4th birthday (how many is that in dragon years, I wonder?) and she sent me this:

Heehee.  This totally makes me giggle.  The dragons would love to be able to breathe fire, I'm sure.  As Mother of Dragons, I'm very happy that they can't.

She also sent me this recently.  Isn't it cool?  Not as an actual shoe, but as art I think it's really pretty.  I tried to find more like this but didn't succeed, so I went to my fallback and checked out what holidays are happening today:

Wow, January 2nd is packed.  I love that it's both National Buffet and Cream Puff Day and Motivation and Inspiration and Personal Trainer Awareness Day.  You'll definitely need the second after the first!

I am amused that today is Fruitcake Toss Day.  I am also amused that doing a search for fruitcake shoes actually yielded results.

In honor of the holidays as well as my usual resolution to be more health conscious, blue and green tennis shoes!

National Science Fiction Day might be my favorite.  I'm feeling a little lazy, though, so will simply point you in the direction of previously done Science Fictiony posts:  Star Wars and Star Trek.  There are others, I'm sure, but again...lazy.  That, and the fact that we've been at the office again all day while the house is being shown and I've been working on the AdWords campaign, which always makes me a little loopy.  I'm lucky this post has any coherent sentences in it at all.

Now go toss some fruitcake, eat some cream puffs, work out, and watch/read some science fiction!
