Baby H

I've been meaning to do this post for awhile, but have been putting it off for various reasons.  A month ago yesterday I posted about Baby H, the PF's adorable little muffin.  He is now a month old, and still adorable, but his little life has changed drastically since that last post.  Baby H has been diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1, which untreated can shorten his life to around 8 months.  There is a new drug that was just approved in December of last year that he has been approved for, and this has a good chance of not only extending his life but improving its quality.  He had his first treatment last week, tolerated it well, and even showed some improvement.  SMA often affects babies' abilities to breathe and feed, so he was put onto a feeding tube right away, and yesterday had more treatments for breathing and they got more equipment to help him at home.  He's such a little fighter, and his mama is the most fierce mama I know.  His daddy, too, but I don't know him as well, and can only speak about the PF really.  She told me the other day that she just does what she has to.  I told her that's enough, and pretty much the definition of a hero in my book.  She jumps in and does whatever it takes to advocate for her boys, and she is amazing.  I know she's tired, and I can't imagine everything she is going through, but she amazes and inspired me on a daily basis.

I tried to figure out what kind of shoes to put with this post.  It seems kind of frivolous to talk about shoes when a baby's health is on the line.  But life continues, and Baby H, like all of us, needs happiness, even if it is in the form of shoes that might make us smile.  In fact, Baby H gave me the inspiration for the shoes.  In a picture the PF posted on Facebook the other day H had his "new wubnub pacifier moose" that he'd gotten in a recent care package.  How often do you ever get to use the phrase wubnub pacifier moose?  Clearly his shoes needed to be moose:

Plus, moose are strong and fierce, just like Baby H and the PF.

If you want to know more about their story, you can go here, the link goes to their GoFundMe page.  Please read his story and support them however you can.  That might be money, that might be prayer, that might just be learning more about SMA and how it affects families.

Friends

Today is Friends Day on Facebook.  Facebook is celebrating its 12th birthday by putting together videos showcasing pictures of people's Facebook friends.  I didn't share my video (although I watched it), but decided I'd celebrate my friends with shoes.  Facebook "friends" run the gamut from family to best friends to acquaintances, to people I've never met.  I can't do shoes for all of them (546 friends would take forever), but I'll do a few.  So, in no particular order:

I have lots of friends who love green:  Mom, the Seester, Double A, and SKD, to name a few.  None of them wear heels, so I went with tennies.  Even though blue is my favorite, I'm also a fan of green, and I really like this shade.

Owls for the Pinterest Friend!  She's not into heels, either, but how adorable is this shoe?

Both the BFF and The Bean love purple.  The Bean is my mini-me, and loves her some heels.

We'll go with flats for the BFF.  I think these are adorable.  Flower also likes purple, and as she's only 10 she doesn't really need heels.

These are for the BSF.  I'm not entirely sure why, even.  I liked them, and they reminded me of her, so  there you have it, I guess.

I've posted these before, but they're my favorite of the adult moose shoes.  These, of course, are for my auntie.

There are lots more friends I could find shoes for.  I hope they don't feel left out.  I still love them and want to wish them a Happy Friends Day!

I got something like 21/36 hours of sleep in the last 2 days, so I'm feeling so very much better.  I could actually still go for a nap, but at least I've gotten some good sleep and it's actually helping.

Mousse?

Apparently today was National Mousse Day!  I need to find these things out sooner so I can partake and indulge in some yumminess.  I would have eaten chocolate mousse for breakfast if I'd known!  Mousse shoes don't really exist, so I'm taking some liberty and going with MOOSE shoes instead:

Baby shoes, slippers, and boots.  These are a few of my favorite things!  Hmmm...maybe I need to do a Sound of Music post one of these days....

Anyhoo, I hope you had a good National Mousse Day, whatever kind of moose it may or may not have involved. Our day was up and down.  Not great, but the hubby was really upbeat about some things, so that balanced my more cynical viewpoint.  We did receive some happy mail, though, so that helped.  Yay, mail!

Cheeky Moose

On Saturday as I was looking for images of moose shoes, I came across a series called Cheeky Moose shoes.  I didn't include them because they really don't have anything to do with moose.  Turns out they're from our friends at Irregular Choice, and they are just as odd as you would expect from that brand.

I have absolutely no idea why they named this particular line cheeky moose.  If you have any thoughts feel free to let me know.  They're definitely interesting, I'll give them that, but they are somewhere between cute and just plain weird.  I've also never understood making the soles of shoes pretty.  They're just going to get dirty and gross, and then the pretty is gone.  Oh well.  Cheeky Moose booties.   Who knew?  I'm thinking the auntie is probably not going to rush out and buy any of these particular moose shoes.

Mooooose

Yesterday's post was for the mama (hi, Mom!), today's post is for her seester, Perb Aunt.  Yep.  That's what we call her.  When my first niece came along, the auntie decided she wasn't ready to be a Great Aunt, because it made her think of all my grandmother's old, Norwegian aunts at our yearly family reunions (there were approximately 40 of them, I think, all with good, proper Great Aunt names like Hilda).  Anyway, the auntie decided she would be a "superb" aunt instead.  But of course, DJ couldn't say it.  So just like I became Auntie Scary, she became Perb Aunt.  You say it like it's one word.  Perbaunt.  (and it's pronounced like "ant" in my family, she's not perbont).  OK, enough back story.  No wait, this post isn't actually about her name, but about the fact that she really likes moose.  She had a whole moose room in her house in TX, and it was very fun.  So here you go, Perb Aunt:

Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between a moose and a reindeer on stuff like this, but the picture said moose, so we're going with it.

Moose slippers.  Even I kind of want a pair of these.

This moose actually looks a lot like one I cross-stitched for her about a million years ago.

Oh my goodness.  Why is this necessary?  They're funny, but wouldn't they really only be funny to wear once?  The heels seem wrong since if you want to make tracks it would need to be in snow or mud or something, and who wants to wear their heels in that crud?

Awww...

Another awww...

And there you have it.  Mooses!
