Eiffel Tower

Today is the 127th anniversary of the opening of the Eiffel Tower.  It was built in 1889 as the entrance to the World's Fair.  I've mentioned before that The Bean loves the Eiffel Tower and really really really wants to go to Paris.  Maybe she can wear some of these shoes when she finally gets there:

OK, she can't wear these first two as they are art and not real shoes.  But they're still fun.  And they wouldn't be comfortable, so they're better as art.

Much better for being touristy.  And there's a lot of blue, so you know I appreciate that.

Arty in a different way.  I think these are really pretty.

Interesting.  Not my favorite, but I like the concept.  And that they are the colors of France's flag.

Simple but sweet.

Love the colors.  I keep thinking the trees on the right shoe are camels, though.  What is wrong with me?

These are my favorite.  So cute.  Plus, they go with today also being National Crayola Crayon Day.

I've never been to Paris, but I hope to go someday.  Maybe if she's extra nice to her auntie I will take The Bean.

Memory Lane: 2013. 2015 (look, I had some follow-through from last year's post!).

I Need Some Crayons

I did a coloring post on this day 3 years ago, and it inspired me to go look for more shoe-themed coloring pages.

I was going to write that I would color this blue, but then I realized that I would probably color them all blue.

I might not even color the striped ones.  I really like the one in the middle with the daisies, and the back pair looks like a dalmatian.

Hmmm...black and white?  Black and red?

OK, I wouldn't make this blue animal print.  See?  I can choose other colors occasionally.

Fun!  I like all the details, they would be fun to color.

Why does this boot seem kind of skanky to me?

I had to include this one for The Bean. It's WAY too tall, though.  Ouch.  Thankfully it's only a drawing.

This one is also really tall.  The extra details mean I could do this one in black, white, and red, which is one of my favorite combinations for polka dot shoes.

How would you color all of these shoes?

Memory lane is short tonight as I already did 2013 and I didn't post in 2015.

3 Things:
  1. We talk to both sets of parents every Sunday, which always makes me happy
  2. I went to Target today to renew my antidepressant prescription.  I'm very grateful for my antidepressants, and being able to get them.
  3. I might love Target a little too much, but I thoroughly enjoy wandering around, even when I don't have money to shop.

Friends

Today is Friends Day on Facebook.  Facebook is celebrating its 12th birthday by putting together videos showcasing pictures of people's Facebook friends.  I didn't share my video (although I watched it), but decided I'd celebrate my friends with shoes.  Facebook "friends" run the gamut from family to best friends to acquaintances, to people I've never met.  I can't do shoes for all of them (546 friends would take forever), but I'll do a few.  So, in no particular order:

I have lots of friends who love green:  Mom, the Seester, Double A, and SKD, to name a few.  None of them wear heels, so I went with tennies.  Even though blue is my favorite, I'm also a fan of green, and I really like this shade.

Owls for the Pinterest Friend!  She's not into heels, either, but how adorable is this shoe?

Both the BFF and The Bean love purple.  The Bean is my mini-me, and loves her some heels.

We'll go with flats for the BFF.  I think these are adorable.  Flower also likes purple, and as she's only 10 she doesn't really need heels.

These are for the BSF.  I'm not entirely sure why, even.  I liked them, and they reminded me of her, so  there you have it, I guess.

I've posted these before, but they're my favorite of the adult moose shoes.  These, of course, are for my auntie.

There are lots more friends I could find shoes for.  I hope they don't feel left out.  I still love them and want to wish them a Happy Friends Day!

I got something like 21/36 hours of sleep in the last 2 days, so I'm feeling so very much better.  I could actually still go for a nap, but at least I've gotten some good sleep and it's actually helping.

Post Christmas Crochet Post

Now that Christmas is done and the presents are opened I can show you what I crocheted this year, although it's kinda lame.

Headbands. This one is Double A's.

The Bean's.

Tink's.

Flower's.

The Seester's.

 Laughter's.

The bottom one is Pippi's. For some reason I couldn't find the picture I took of just hers. Also, this post is all kinds of messed up because I'm doing it on my phone and it's not going terribly well. In fact, I'm skipping shoes because just this much has taken me 8 million hours to write. Apparently lame presents lead to lame posts. Yikes.

Happy Birthday, Bean!

Today is the Bean's 12th birthday.  She's almost a teenager!  We got to Skype with her and the parents and Double A this afternoon, so that was lovely, even if we did have technical difficulties and end up spending way more time figuring things out that we expected.  2 years ago the hubby and I were home for her birthday, which was awesome, but the shoes weren't all about her.  Last year's post was shoes named after her, so this year she gets purple (because it's her favorite color) and polka dots (because I like alliteration).  Here are 12 pairs of purple polka dots for my Bean:

Is it just me or are these kind of a weird shape?  I still think they're adorable, even if they are a bit odd.

This needs a different heel, but the top is cute.

Ohhhh...maybe I could get the hubby to wear these for the Bean if not for me?

Adorable.

I'll take this outfit in blue, please.  We'll get green for Double A and then we'll all 3 go on an outing.

Wouldn't these be fabulous for Lent?  Am I supposed to say fabulous and Lent in the same sentence?

Puddle stomping boots!

I just noticed that this is a ring holder shoe.

I would wear these.  They need some ribbon laces, though.

Purple polka dots for the PB!

I feel like I know a small child who had these exact shoes.

And finally some fleep flops.  Because the Bean doesn't have her auntie's issues with that darn thing between the toes.

Happy Birthday, Bean!  I love you to purple polka dots and back!

I'm now going to tack on this final paragraph because I don't want to do an actual post about it.  The hubby and I met with the bishop today, and for reasons that are both very complicated and remarkably simple, I have decided to go off of the clergy roster.  It will be awhile before I fully process this change, but at the core it was the right decision for where I am right now.  I can, after at least a year, decide to go through the process of being put back on the roster and once again be an ordained clergy person, so I'm grateful this doesn't have to be permanent unless I decide that's what God is calling me to.  I have many, many emotions which mostly boil down to just feeling weird right now.  Like I said, I haven't fully processed, so weird is about the best I've got right now.

Dalmatiany Shoes

Mom, Dad, Double A, and The Bean left yesterday after being here for a week.  It was so good to have them here for a visit, and I enjoyed every minute of it.  I, of course, would have preferred if they could have stayed longer (maybe forever?), but am glad I got to see them for whatever time possible.  We went to the Jelly Belly factory, spent an afternoon in a friend's pool, played Beatles board games, had a picnic with SKD, painted pottery, took pictures of statues (something we also did when they were here 4 years ago), watched movies, played with puppies, and giggled a lot.  I definitely needed the time with them.

While they were here, The Bean bought a Disney CD that we listened to in the car quite a bit.  It had the Cruella De Vil song from 101 Dalmatians.

It was then stuck in my head for most of the week.

The song, coupled with this picture from the 15th, pretty much determined the theme for tonight's post.  Obviously I was being told to do dalmatian shoes.

Wow.  The hubby needs to plan some kind of Halloween outfit around these.

I actually like this.  Not so sure about the thing on the heel, but the rest is cute.

I like these as well, but I prefer the larger spots.

Same here.  Cute, but I think I'd like it better with larger spots.

Yep. Doesn't hurt that it's also a Mary Jane.

Awwww... And look!  Ribbon shoelaces!

I like these, but I don't really want them for my canvas shoe collection.

Adorable.  Love the ribbons.  And yes, I do know these are more uniform polka dots, rather than dalmatian spots.

I would totally wear these if they came in an adult size.  And if it ever rained here.

The hubby and I agree that our house now seems empty and quiet without the fam, and the puppies miss all the extra snuggles they got from the girls. We miss you, cute family!  Come back!
