Global Beatle Day

Thanks to the Pinterest Friend and the holiday calendar I found out that today is Global Beatles Day!

I definitely need to put this on my calendar so I can celebrate it on a yearly basis.  According to the GBD website:

GBD (founded 2009) is a day honoring and celebrating the phenomenon and ideals of the Beatles,  collectively and individually, for their gifts to the world including, but not limited to, their promotion of peace and love, of truth and youth, and of the expansion of human consciousness. More specifically, GBD commemorates the Beatles music – their promotion and expansion of rhythm and blues, rock and roll, world music… and especially their collective and personal exploration of a myriad  of musical ideas and innovations.

It then goes on to talk some about their song All You Need is Love, which is what I used as inspiration for this post, since I've already posted a ton of Beatles shoes.

It's hard to tell, but these say All You Need is Love over and over.  I like the colors, but I wish they were easier to read.

Here they are with their brothers and sisters in the line.

I seen this show!  I don't have the shoes, though.

I have these socks!  Because the BFF is awesome.

The first pair comes in baby size!

Seriously, I need to have a baby and dress him/her in nothing but Beatles stuff.

Heehee.

I can't leave you without the song itself:

Frankly, with everything going on in the world right now we could all use, and give a little more love.

World Autism Day

April 2nd is World Autism Awareness Day, and April is Autism Awareness month.  I think it's wonderful that there is a day set aside to encourage conversations about Autism, what is, what it's like to live with it, how people thrive everyday while living with it.  The more we talk about it, the more we speak with people who are on the spectrum and understand that they are just people the better off everyone will be and the more we will be able to love and support all of our brothers and sisters know matter what.  Some of the things people are doing to celebrate today and the whole month include "lighting it up blue for Autism."  This might mean changing your front porch light to a blue bulb, wearing blue, or changing your Facebook profile picture to include a blue frame to create awareness.  I'm sure there are a million other things as well, but those are just a few examples.

I have mentioned before that the Pinterest Friend's son is Autistic, and I know this creates challenges for their family.  I also know he is a smart, curious, sweet, and loving boy who happens to have Autism.  It doesn't define him.  His mama is a fierce and loving mama who works every day to make sure her son gets what he needs to thrive.  In honor of today she sent me the following shoes:

The puzzle piece is one of the symbols of Autism.  I reminds us that people of all different shapes, sizes, abilities, colors, etc. can work together to create something amazing.

I wish this had colors.  I appreciate the simplicity, but I would like it more with color, I think.

I don't know if this is actually a mismatched pair or one shoe from 2 different pairs.  I would wear them mismatched.

Toms and Vans really do seem to have shoes for every occasion, don't they?

Today reminds us to love, support, and walk with our brothers and sisters with Autism.  We don't need to "fix" them, we just need to understand how they see the world.  Maybe our own way of seeing the world will be better for it.

Eiffel Tower

Today is the 127th anniversary of the opening of the Eiffel Tower.  It was built in 1889 as the entrance to the World's Fair.  I've mentioned before that The Bean loves the Eiffel Tower and really really really wants to go to Paris.  Maybe she can wear some of these shoes when she finally gets there:

OK, she can't wear these first two as they are art and not real shoes.  But they're still fun.  And they wouldn't be comfortable, so they're better as art.

Much better for being touristy.  And there's a lot of blue, so you know I appreciate that.

Arty in a different way.  I think these are really pretty.

Interesting.  Not my favorite, but I like the concept.  And that they are the colors of France's flag.

Simple but sweet.

Love the colors.  I keep thinking the trees on the right shoe are camels, though.  What is wrong with me?

These are my favorite.  So cute.  Plus, they go with today also being National Crayola Crayon Day.

I've never been to Paris, but I hope to go someday.  Maybe if she's extra nice to her auntie I will take The Bean.

Star Wars

I should probably do this post tomorrow when The Force Awakens opens, or when we actually go see the movie, but today is our intern's last day before he goes on Christmas break, and he's never seen ANY  of the movies.  I know, we were shocked, too.  It's not his fault, he's actually too young for either trilogy.  Which makes me feel really old.  We decided since it's December and not much happens in the sales world (not retail) during this month, we would take the time to watch Episode IV with him.  This is my idea of an afternoon at work! (although he's extremely responsible and continuing his work while he watches.)  And of course I had to go look for shoes that I haven't posted before.

I want these.  PLEEEAAAASEEEE can I have these to wear when I go to the new movie?

These not so much.  I like them, but I don't really need them.

These are the ones the hubby could wear when we go.  He loooooves Darth Vader.

Or we could both wear these and match.

And then I could wear these the next time I see watch it (or any of the movies, really).

And the PB could wear these!

Since these have Ewoks I would wear these to watch Return of the Jedi.

I suppose I should be at least as responsible as my 16 year old intern and go do some actual work while I watch.  Sigh...
