Mmmmm...Chocolate

A friend of mine posted this on my facebook wall this morning.

By this logic I eat a lot of salad.  Actually I do tend to eat a lot of actual salad, but I'm liking this concept better.  If only chocolate were as healthy as salad and didn't make me gain weight.

So, chocolate and shoes, 2 of my favorite things.  Did you know there are lots and lots of chocolate shoes out there?  Well there are, and here are some of my favorites:

Some of these I would totally wear if they were actual shoes.  The problem I have with all of these is that they are chocolate, and chocolate should be eaten. But they are also so pretty, and I feel like they would make lovely additions to my office shoe shrine.  Eat them or look at them?  Although, while I didn't look into it, I fear that chocolate shoes might cost almost as much as actual shoes, so I would probably never buy any.  I would rather buy real shoes.  But if anyone were to ever give me some chocolate shoes, then the dilemma would apply.

PS--remember yesterday when I was annoyed with our IT guy?  Last night after I got home I totally figured out how to fix the problem he was so ticked off about.  I am not that techy, and this was a really easy fix.  I'm really not sure what to say about that.

Yum!

Last week at least 5 people shared this video with me.  I tried to embed the video here, but couldn't figure out how this time, so you'll have to click the link.  Sorry to make you work so hard.  It's a video of chocolate shoes from a place called Tasty Image.  It always intrigues me how things will go in cycles, and I'll get the same picture or video shared to my Facebook page by numerous people.  JG and I were talking about it and she said, "well it's no secret that you like chocolate and shoes."  Yep, I have to agree.  I'm firmly out of the closet on both of those things.  So thank you to everyone who share the yumminess!  My response was always something like, "those are too pretty to eat.  Except that I would totally eat them."  Their site has a whole album of chocolate shoes, but here are a few of my favorites.

Mmmm..I love that they are made of chocolate AND they are containers for MORE chocolate.  These are people after my own chocolate-loving heart.  Now if only I had one of these beautiful and yummy shoes right now.

Memory Lane: 2013. 2014. (Notice how absent 2015 has been lately?  I definitely fell off on posting last year)

3 Things:

  1. Fabulous friends who share shoe stuff on my Facebook page.
  2. We had a potluck with all of the employees today.  It was awesome for team building and getting to know each other.  Also my introverted self hated it and wanted to hide under the table.  I'll focus on the first.
  3. The potluck involved chocolate.

Mmmm...Chocolate

Apparently today was National Chocolate Day and I almost missed it!  I didn't find out until this evening when I looked at today's holidays to give me some ideas for this post.  Thankfully I had some chocolate in the house so I could celebrate properly.  To continue that celebration, here are some (more) chocolate shoes:

They're so pretty.  The question is, would they be too pretty to actually eat?

In non-chocolate news, I had an interview with a temp agency today.  It went OK, and they will let me know if anything comes up.  I was way over-dressed.  Not compared to the staff, but compared to the other candidates I saw there.  Apparently we have very different ideas of what professional dress means.  Speaking of outfits, I realized that as I was purging shoes these last couple of times I got rid of all of my black heels.  I wore a black pencil skirt and a black and cream top and had no black shoes.  I ended up wearing last year's Easter shoes:

I still think they're a wee bit slutty, but the hubby loves them.  He thought they looked better than the turquoise pair I originally had on (I thought a pop of color would be nice).  They did coordinate with the outfit better than the turquoise, I guess.  And clearly I need to go black shoe shopping.

Question

Lent is coming; Ash Wednesday is March 5th this year.  Lent is the season of the church year leading up to Easter.  It's a contemplative time, and a time to think about our spirituality.  Some people look at the season as journeying toward the cross with Jesus.  Lent is kind of like New Year's because some people decide to make changes during the season.  One option is to give something up.  For instance, chocolate or meat or alcohol. Take it a step further, and you can donate the money you save not buying those things to a food pantry or World Hunger, or something like that.  Another option is to take something on.  Like prayer, meditation, service, etc.  For the last 20 years or more I have always given up chocolate.  It's a good reminder to me that as much as I love it, I don't actually need it, and there are more important things in life.  I've also given up caffeine for around half of those years (prompting my brother to say one year, "man, you must be a bitch to live with during Lent!  Brothers.  Aren't they special?).  So here's my question to you, my lovely readers:  Should I give up chocolate again this year?  I feel like with this leave I'm currently on, I am already taking on more things:  exercise, better eating, therapy, discernment.  Part of me thinks that's enough.  But then there's the other part of me.  The stuck-in-a-rut part.  The liking to do things the same way part.  In other words, the (ahem) Lutheran part.  I have until Tuesday to decide.  If I decide to give it up, then I must spend Mardi Gras eating as much chocolate as humanly possible.  What do you think?  Thoughts?  Suggestions?  (I've already decided I'm not giving up caffeine.  I've been drastically limiting my intake already, but don't feel like dealing with the withdrawal headache right now)

And now to shoes.  And shoes that are pretty much the antithesis of the first paragraph.

Cake shoes.  Not cupcakes that look like shoes, but shoes that look like cake.  Actual shoes.

Oh my goodness, I think these are perfect for me.  I would seriously just want to lick my own feet, though, and that would get me even more weird looks.

Aren't they beautiful and scrumptious looking?  I'm not sure I actually want a pair to wear, but as art they are pretty cool, and beautifully.  I of course love this pair because they are blue.  It makes me think of my grandma, though, who hated blue food, and so would therefor, presumably, hate these shoes.

For all of you who love the green.  Didn't want to leave you out.

There are more pictures.  You should really go check out the whole article, as it's pretty cool.

Milk Chocolate

Today is National Chili Dog Day, National Hamburger Day, and National Milk Chocolate Day.  You know which direction I'm going to go:

Milk Chocolate WOODEN shoes?  They should have rethought that from a marketing perspective.

Chocolate shoes in a box shaped like a purse!

If someone really really really loved me they would buy me some milk chocolate shoes to celebrate this historic day.  I'm just sayin'.

J-E-L-L-O

Apparently today is National Dessert Day?  I figure that's every day, but it's nice to know when the designated holiday is.  You know I'm all about the chocolate desserts, but I'm kind of bored with chocolate shoes right now, and for some reason today I was thinking about Jello.  Must be Lutheran thing.  At any rate, it got me to go look for Jello shoes, and there aren't a lot out there, which is bad for a post, but good for the general state of the world.

This is an actual pair of shoes made out of Jello.  There was also a picture of a woman who had supposedly just fallen over from attempting to walk in these.  Jello shoes are weird enough, but WHY would someone attempt to walk in them?

This makes more sense in terms of Jello shoes.

Hey, look!  There's a Jello Shoe Company!  I'd like that shoe better if it were all yellow, I think.  Or maybe if it had a different heel.  I went to the website but didn't spend a lot of time poking around on it.

Not Jello, but the sole kind of looks like Jello, and I like how bright and happy they are.  Except that the sole would get dirty and then I would be sad.

Actual shoe-shaped Jello molds.  I'm honestly not sure what to say about this it kind of creeps me out and I have no idea why.

Cute!  Could be used for Jello or chocolate, and doesn't creep me out, so it seems a good place to end.

Please honor this (totally made up, probably) national holiday and go eat some dessert!

Because I Love My Mom And My Auntie

My mom gave me a gentle nudge of guilt yesterday about not posting this week.  Today she said my auntie was having blog withdrawals.  OK, OK...I can take a hint.  It's not that I've been avoiding you all, it's just that not much is going on this week, so I haven't been terribly inspired to write.  I mean, so far the highlights of this week have been:  Allergy shots and an appointment with my pulmonologist, going to his physical with the hubby, and having the puppies bring a dead bird into the house which I then stepped on.  See?  Who wants to read about that?  The first 2 are boring, and the last one is just gross.  What am I going to do, dead bird shoes?  Also, I haven't been feeling well this week.  Maybe it's just allergies, but I keep feeling like I'm getting or have a cold or a virus or something.  I'm achy and tired and wheezy and blah.  My brain has also been super helpful by informing me that every decision I have ever made has probably been wrong, or for the wrong reasons.  Don't you just love absolutes?  I mean how crazy is that?  Niece snuggling is mostly always a good choice.  Chocolate is definitely always a good choice.  Getting puppies?  Maybe not so much after Birdgate 2014.  Drinking water, eating veggies, working out (when I do it) are all good choices.  But apparently my brain is stupid and needs to be kicked.  And what shoes go with that post?  So, since this post so far is about basically nothing and doesn't have much of a theme, here are some shoes that also have no theme, except Hey!  Here are some shoes!

I like these.  Maybe.  I think so.  They kind of remind me of Polish potter in a shoe.

Damn.  You'd always be able to find these in a crowd. I actually like the black and white striped heet and platform, though.

I have no idea what's going on here, but I like it.  And those are really really tall shoes.

Supposedly these are shoes that change colors.  I don't think that's necessary in a shoe.  How would you match it to an outfit?

I don't even really know what to say about these, except that for some reason they kind of crack me up, and I kind of want them.

I used to have a skirt in these colors and almost the same pattern.  I wouldn't have worn matching shoes with it, but these would be fun with other outfits.

You know those looms you can make potholders on?  Some really proud mother decided to re-purpose all of the potholders her kids made her in to these questionable shoes. That's my guess anyway.

These are because I couldn't leave you with potholder shoes and baby shoes with penguinitos are always a good choice.

Alright, Auntie and Mama, no more with the guilt.  I've written you a post.  Now if you'll excuse me, I need to get back to questioning my life.

Yum

I think I'm hungry tonight.  Either that, or the fact that I haven't had chocolate for 2 weeks is getting to me. Because tonight it's all about dessert-y kind of shoes.

It started when I found these adorable s'mores slippers.  Look at how happy they are!  Then, I started looking for other kinds of edible shoes.  (I realize these aren't edible, they are just what prompted my search.  That, and apparently hunger)

Sprinkle shoes!  I love these because they look like all of the sparkly shoes I love.  They'd be sticky if  it rained, though.  Unless they are shellacked or something.

Cookie shoes!  Will someone please find me a shoe shaped cookie cutter?  Or just make me some, since mine would never be this cute?

I'm not terribly fond of marzipan, but the details on these are quite fun.

And, of course, I had to include chocolate, even though I've done it before.  These are probably too pretty to eat, right?  It's like the chocolate bunny, though.  Instead of nibbling on the ears, I'd start nibbling on a heel, then maybe a toe, and before you know it...shoes in my tummy.

I have to go to sleep now so I can stop thinking about yummy goodness.

The Bean's Extradordinary Peanut Butter Chocolate Cookies

Another day of sleeping in (but not spending nearly as much time in my pjs).  Today I got to hang out with Pippi and Tink, which is always awesome.  They are getting so big!  Tink is in kindergarten and Pippi is in 2nd grade.  Neither had homework tonight, but both wanted me to print out math and handwriting worksheets for them.  Then I had to grade them.  They both got 100% on the ones that I graded, and no I wasn't being kind.  They really are brilliant!  The Bean had to do actual science homework tonight and she was less than thrilled.  After dinner the Bean and I decided to try a new cookie recipe.  It had peanut butter, cocoa powder, peanut butter chips, chocolate chips, and Reese's peanut butter and chocolate minis.  Oh yeah, no calories there.  They turned out pretty well, and we had fun making them.  Tonight's post is named after what we named them.  Non-sequiter:  did I mention that both The Bean and Double A are only about 2 inches shorter than me now?  It's so weird to be able to basically look them in the eye.  So, I know I've already done cookie shoes, but in honor of tonight's successful cookie experiment, I'm going to do some more.

I love how detailed these are.  I'm not sure I would have the patience or the talent to accomplish this.

With this shape you could make a bunch of different kinds of shoes.  From how these look, I think you could also do wedges and booties.  Notice I said you, not I.

For your more casual shoe cookie occasions.

These are "felt wool baby shoes with wool buttercream cookie buckles."  The booties are actually cute, but who thought they needed buttercream cookie buckles?  Weird.

Hmmmm...stocking stuffer?

These are even weirder than the first set of baby shoes.  Maybe if they were part of a Halloween costume?  Or you were celebrating Chinese New Year?  (celebrating in an American way, since fortune cookies aren't actually Chinese)  Should we have gotten a pair of these for Flower when she was a baby?

I've also done Cookie Monster shoes before, and maybe even these, but they are so cute, and must be posted.  I do love me some Sesame Street.

On a final note:  It's definitely winter in Montana.  I've only been here 3 days and my nose is already starting to dry out and bleed, and my skin is insanely dry.  Go, little humidifier, go!
