May Day

Happy May Day!  It's crazy that it's May already.  Where is this year going?  It was almost 90 degrees here today, which is crazy.  I'm not ready for the heat, but as I said yesterday the sunshine has been nice.  I've done several flower posts, so today I thought I would do a specific flower, and tulips came to mind because they're so springy.

These are pretty.  I don't think I want a pair, but they're still pretty.

I think these are rain or gardening shoes, but they also kind of look like slippers.  Again, pretty, but not a pair I want.

There were a lot of these.  Some with tulips painted on them, some just wooden shoes with tulips inside.  Makes sense as wooden shoes and tulips are associated with Holland.  I would use these for decoration, but not as footwear.

These I would wear.  Is it weird that I would wear the pink ones but not the first pair?

So sweet!

See comment above.  Repeat.

Hope you all had a lovely day that involved flowers of some kind, even if they were just on shoes or a computer screen.

Dr. Seuss

It's Dr. Seuss's birthday!  Hooray!  You might remember from last year that I'm rather fond of Dr. Seuss.  I mean, how can you not?  I figure after last night's plethora of words tonight's post can just be awesome Dr. Seuss shoes:

I would like a pair of each please.  You can deliver them to my fort.

Happy Birthday, Mom!

Today is my mom's birthday!  I was thinking a lot about her today, of course, and even got to Skype with her for a few minutes, which was awesome and much needed.  She was 28 when I was born, which means by the time she was my age she was dealing with 13 year old me (and brother and sister were 17 and 20).  I can't really imagine have a 13 year old, let along a 17 and 20 year olds.  I was also thinking about all of the stress I must have put her through even before I got to be a moody, angsty, annoying 13 year old.  For instance, before I was 5 or 6 I had: a giant sliver in my foot that had to be removed by a doctor. A pencil lead in my knee that had to be removed by a doctor and required stitches. I split my chin open on the side of the pool and had to get stitches. Then when that was barely heeled I jumped up at the pharmacy counter to try and see and split my chin open again (no stitches that time!).  I laid my arm on the wood stove (still have the scar). Fell on the sidewalk at school and tore a giant chunk out of my knee (same knee as the pencil lead!). My forehead had an encounter with a nail and I freaked her out completely when I came in with my hand over my eye and blood everywhere and she thought I'd poked my eye out. I somehow got my ankle bone caught in the spokes of my brother's bike while we were riding it (there was much blood and a very nice lady who came out to sit with me). I cracked my collar bone somersaulting over someone's foot  (I went through a phase where I preferred to somersault rather than walk).  I got glasses around 2nd grade, which is fairly normal, but then started needing a new prescription every 6 months, so ended up on daily atropine drops and had to have bifocals in 5th grade. My freshman year I broke my wrist during volleyball practice.  My Junior year I ended up in the ER with a bruised sternum.  My senior year I somehow managed to dump boiling water on my wrist (same one I broke [still have that scar, too]). I was an expensive and stressful kid and my mom was my primary care giver.  Can I just take the opportunity to say I'm terribly sorry?  It's not nearly enough, not even a tiny percentage of a fraction of enough, but here are some shoes to say thank you (they all have hearts on them for love):

Look at these fun colors!  I wouldn't generally wear heart-themed shoes, but these are cute.  And Zazzle, not surprisingly.

I just now noticed the broken hearts on this.  Probably appropriate as I'm sure I broke my mom's heart on more than one occasion.

I love baby shoes.  And conversation hearts.  True story.

Yay for some green, which is Mom's favorite color!

Adorable.  The PB needs a pair.  AND my mom can knit, unlike me, so she could totally make these.  Not that I will ask her because it's her birthday and she's done enough for me already.

Love you, Mom!

Sunglasses

Today is Sunglasses Day!  Why?  Who cares?  I read a blog that claims that everyone looks hotter in sunglasses.  I'd that's mostly true.  Unless the sunglasses are awful and then the person looks kind of dorky, but generally speaking I would agree.  I wasn't sure what I would find in terms of sunglasses + shoes, but I did manage to find a few things:

I actually think these are both kind of cute.  They look like they're made out of material that doesn't breathe, but overall they're cute.  They're also Karl Lagerfeld and were applauded as being shoes "under $200."  Yeah, unless they're WAAAAY under that dollar figure these are definitely not that cute.  And/or I'm cheap.

Awww...baby sunglasses shoes.  OK, probably just glasses, but work with me, OK?  They're sparkly and cute and made me then search for Babies in Sunglasses, which you should definitely go peruse, because adorable.  I give you example A in the form of toddler Flower:

AND she was wearing adorable shoes. If I remember correctly she was about to go fishing with her dad when this picture was taken.  Most fashionable fisher-girl I've ever seen!

So, I implemented my new plan for getting my patootie (or patoosh as Laughter sometimes refers to it) out of my office chair today.  According to my phone (and I have no idea how accurate it is...one of these days I'd like to get a fitbit) I walked 7,655 steps, for a total of 3.69 miles, over the course of 72 minutes, and burned 264 calories.  Not the greatest results in the world, but still a million times better than what I've been doing most days of late.  Now I just have to keep it up.  I also drank over a gallon of water today, which is good as it was 8 million degrees.  I'm pretty much over summer already and it's not even July yet.  Sigh.

Aliens

The other night when I was looking for UFO shoes I also found lots of cute alien shoes.  I figured I would just do a follow-up post the next day, but then yesterday was Global Beatles Day so OF COURSE  I had to that that post.  So now I'm doing aliens because I have alien shoes and nothing terribly exciting happened today that inspired a different post.

I hate the giant thickness of this this sole and the style of the shoe itself, but love that the aliens glow in the dark.

Also glow in the dark.  Still not a shoe I want to wear, style-wise.

I don't think these glow, but it's nice that the pink-loving kiddos out there get some alien shoes too.

Heehee.  PB could wear these and be a Sci Fi nerd like mom and dad.

The claaaaaw!

I'm off to do more laundry because that's how very exciting my life is.

Zzzz

Is it wrong to go to bed at 8:30?  Because I'm seriously considering it.  But hey!  It means we're home in order for me to even be able to consider it!  So that's nice, but whyohwhy am I sooooo tired?  I'll blame the book podcast that I did today.  Too much adrenaline from nerves.  It went OK.  I'm not sure I'm exactly good at this podcast thing, but I'm not horrible, either.  Maybe?  I think I'll just look at sleepy shoes and try not to figure out whether or not I'm good at podcasting.

I wonder who has a strong desire to buy sleepy flip flops?  The straps make these look like angry shoes, but the  zzs make them sleepy.  Or maybe they're having angry dreams?

I think I've posted these before, but sleepy sheepy slippers make me smile.

Heehee...these all seem like kind of stinky places to fall asleep!  As much as I love shoes, I think I'll stick with my bed and pillow for sleeping.

Still No Tea Party

Dang.  May 24th is here again, bringing with it International Tiara Day, and just like last year I'm STILL not home having a tiara tea party with nieces.  I really need to reprioritize my life.  I guess I'll just give you more tiara shoes.

These are really floofy, but I had to show them to you because they aren't pink!  It's not that I completely hate pink, but tiaras should not have to equal pink.  In fact, come to think of it, I rarely see Kate Middleton wear pink.

Whoa.  Speaking of floofy.  And pink.  But I actually kind of like them.  At least there are some added colors, and I like that they're tennies.  For the princess who wants to be floofy AND practical.

Also practical.  Not pink.  Maybe I'd like them better if the gold parts weren't bedazzled.

Ohhhhh...thank you Frozen for giving me blue tiara shoes.  I doubt they come in my size, but I would totally wear them to my next tea party if they did.

Yep.  This pretty much sums up my day.  Throw in some snuggles with an adorable baby and I would be one happy baby snuggling, tiara/new shoe wearing, cooking eating fool.

Baby Blue Blankie

Shhhh...I'm writing this at the office, don't tell my boss!  Said boss is actually at a meeting, our one current employee is home sick, and I'm taking advantage of the quiet to write a quick post. Are there other things I should be doing?  Yes, but nothing that can't wait.  And I just found out that my latest project has arrived at its destination, so I can share it here and not ruin the surprise on the off-chance they read the blog.

This is for the new baby of a family at St. Someone's.  He's a little over a month old, and super cute.  Which isn't surprising as his older brother has always been super cute (Mom and Dad must have super-cute-baby genes)

*Happy side-note:  Said older brother wore orange to his baptism, so I, of course, matched my shoes to his shirt.  Yes, I was an incredibly dorky pastor.

*Unhappy side-note:  I'm trying not to take it horribly personally how many people from St. Someone's have un-friended me on Facebook since I left.  This makes me sad.

Enough side-notes.  Back to the post.  It's time for some blue, crocheted shoes.

I think Toms has these in pretty much every color.  I approve.  These are my wedding color, so of course I approve of these the most.

Adorable.  The Potential Baby might have to have some.  Which means this business had better do well so I can spend my days at home crocheting instead of at the office writing blog posts. Heehee.

See?  I'll need the time to make sure the PB has a different pair of adorable shoes for every day of his or her baby life.

I love these.  I'd wear them as slippers if they came in my size.

How cute are these?  Maybe the puppies need some puppy shoes?

Blue pigs.  Why are the piggies blue?  And why is there one random pair that's not blue?

Oh hell no.

I couldn't leave you with that last pair.  These are much better.  And the girlier version of that first pair.

Dang, I keep forgetting that the PB would need matching hats.  Maybe the hubby and I shouldn't have a baby...the obsessive perfectionism might kill me.

Look 2 posts in a week!  I've actually missed writing.  Maybe I'll be able to find some more time/inspiration to write a little more often going forward.  For now I need to get back to work before I get fired.

Surprise Visit

Tuesdays have become all about the dog hair.  Tuesdays are the one day a week the hubby commutes to SF, which means I can do things like vacuum and run the dryer.   You know, the noisy stuff I can't do when he works from home and is on the phone all the time.  So I wash sheets and blankets and clean puppy hair out of the dryer screen.  I vacuum, and clean puppy hair out of the vacuum filter.  I give the puppies a bath (clean sheets mean clean puppies), and clean puppy hair out of the tub.  Seriously, how can two such tiny creatures produce so much hair?!

Today, though, brought us dog hair of a different kind.  This morning the puppies and I were in the kitchen when I heard the dog door open and saw a white blur out of the corner of my eye.  Since my dogs are brown and were both next to me, I went to investigate.  Turns out it was the beagle who lives behind us.  I had no idea how she got in our yard as when I looked I couldn't find any loose boards in the fence.  So I called her owners and her dad came and got her.  When he got here he said that earlier this morning his wife saw Misti (the beagle) coming through the fence and back into their yard.  She went and got a hammer and nails and fixed the loose board, but apparently in the time it took her to get back Misti had returned to our yard and got locked in.  I'm not sure how long she was back there before she discovered the dog door and invited herself in.  Misti the Beagle went back home, and we got a more adventurous Tuesday morning than we normally get.

In honor of Misti: The Beagle Adventurer:

This Beagle does not look terribly impressed with wearing shoes.  But it looks pretty cute doing it.

Why would you want to step all over those cute little faces?

I don't know if those are Beagles or not, but they're awfully adorable.

This is weird and a little creepy.

Is it weird and/or creepy that I kind of like this?   I wouldn't wear it, but something about it appeals to me.

The shoe is staring at me.  Make the shoe stop staring at me.

I hope your day was full of surprises and lacking in dog hair.
