Whew!

Today was a VERY busy day.  Double A, The Bean, The VH, Flower, Pippi, Tink, and Laughter were all here for Holidays!  Holidays is the tradition we started when DJ was 4 (she's 19 now), and try to do at least once a year, where we celebrate a bunch of holidays in one day because I'm usually not home for most of them.  So today we did:

Easter.  Each kid gets to dye 6 eggs, then we send them off on an errand and I hide the eggs (obviously it's too cold for the bunny to come do it).

Thanksgiving.  We eat Thanksgiving dinner, but very pared down.

We celebrate birthdays.  Each person gets a cupcake.  We've started doing only 1 candle for each, because between 7 kids and 4 adults, it would have been something like 304 candles.  11 are easier to light and blow out...

4th of July.  We got outside and do sparklers and smoke bombs.  There isn't always snow like this year, so this time we got to toss the smoke bombs in the snow and watch the results.

Halloween.  We do face paint and the kids trick-or-treat around the house.

St. Patrick's Day.  We do a treasure hunt with clues to follow to find the Leprechaun's lost gold (gold wrapped chocolate).

Are you exhausted reading about it?  Because it's exhausting doing it!

We then all wore our matching owl pjs to the movie.  Because I am a dorky aunt who makes her nieces do stuff like that.

The movie was Moana, and it was a lot of fun.

Finally, today is Shoetopia's 4th blogiversary!  I think this shoe is hilarious and adorable.

Everyone is supposed to be spending the night, but sadly Pippi had a horrible headache all day and decided she wanted to go home after the movie, and Tink decided to go with her.  The VH has family stuff tomorrow so she couldn't say over.  I still have 4 kiddos sleeping over, though.

Speaking of kiddos, all of my nieces are amazing, but can I take a minute to brag on Double A and The Bean?  They still love to do Holidays, but they are also great with helping with the younger kids.  They're great with kids in general, and love hanging out with their cousins.  They are patient and kind and loving, and it makes my heart happy to watch them.  But now my happy heart and I are going to bed.

Happy Thanksgiving!

My 30 Days of Thankfulness are kind of going by the wayside, not because I lack things for which to be thankful, but because I'm having such a nice time at home that I keep getting sidetracked and forgetting to post.  Like yesterday, I hung out with the parents, Double A, and the Bean, and then the girls had a sleepover, and I was in bed before I realized I hadn't posted.  Which is silly because we wore awesome pjs that would have made for a great post:

As I said on Facebook yesterday, yes, I AM that auntie who forces her nieces to wear matching pjs with her.  Here is a slightly different view:

This is fro tonight, and see that awesome sock peaking out from my pjs?

Yep.  Totally owl thanksgiving socks!  It's quite the fabulous theme I have going on.  I actually feel slightly guilty for posting all of this cute owl stuff where the Pinterest Friend can't see it, when she isn't here to participate.  But really, it's her own fault for getting me obsessed with owls in the first. place. 😋  Speaking of the PF, she sent me this recently:

Flip flop turkey!  Hilarious and adorable.  Which brings me to the earrings I wore today for Thanksgiving:

Ridiculous(ly adorable) turkey earrings.

Today I am thankful for so many things:  time with family, good friends, yummy food, silly accessories, the list could go on an on.  Rather than keep you (or me) up any later, though, I will just show one more picture, which is of our first Thanksgiving meal of the day:

The girls decided they wanted a Charlie Brown Thanksgiving this year, so we had this around 11:30 and regular Thanksgiving tonight.  Good times.  And Good Night.  I hope your day was filled with blessings.

Happy Thanksiversary!

I hope you all had a wonderful turkey day, full of whatever makes you the happiest.  We had a quiet morning and then spent the afternoon with friends, so it was a very nice day.  I wore my turkey socks, as is only appropriate:

They were inside my boots, so no one actually saw them, but I knew they were there.

Speaking of turkeys, Double A lived up to her awesome nickname this week with her nails:

The kid's got talent, I tell you.  I can't even paint my nails in a solid color and have them look decent.  She painted a frickin' turkey on hers!

And now some shoes.

I love these three pairs as a set.  I would need three babies to wear them and be appropriately themed.  They could then sit in the middle of the table and be adorable, Thanksgiving centerpieces.

I need these to go with my turkey socks!

Today was not only Thanksgiving, but also my parents 49th wedding anniversary!  Yay, parents!  I looked it up, and the gift for the 49th anniversary is "luxury goods."  Hmmm...I don't think the parents got each other any luxury goods this year.  I typed in the phrase luxury shoes, though, and the first thing that came up was this:

Wow.  That is insane.  And ugly.  Does this say luxury to you?  Because it sure as heck does not say it to me.

I like these better, but they still look more cheap than luxurious to me.  What's up with that?

Huh.  These were labeled "diamante."  I should google that and see if it's something fancy, but I'm too full of turkey to go research.  I don't hate these, but I'm not fond of them, either.

Sparkly!  I don't know if these are luxurious necessarily, but I do love the sparkle.

Mom loves green, so I had to include some green luxury shoes for her.  I'm not sure what the detail on the back is, and would like them better without it, but these are pretty for the most part.

Even if your day didn't involve luxury items, I hope it involved loved ones in some way shape or form.  And dessert.

Happy Happy Turkey Day!

Happy Thanksgiving!  We had a wonderful day at the seester's house and the entire family was there!  Except for the silly hubby.  Silly hubby.  We missed him.  We skyped him, though, so that was fun.  Kind of wild with 5 nieces all trying to talk at once.  I'm now staying with the seester for almost a week, and Laughter has decided she is sleeping with me tonight, so I need to make this quick so she and I can go to bed.

Turkey shoes!  Apparently adults don't wear turkey shoes.  Which is just silly.  I'd totally wear those slippers, and the tennies with the orange ribbon laces!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

Anniversary and Nieces and Socks

Today (and by today I mean yesterday.  It's almost 1 and I'm just now posting, but just pretend it is still the 26th) was Mom and Dad's 48th wedding anniversary.  Go parents!  For their totally romantical date they took me, Double A, and The Bean to The Bistro for lunch.  Dad actually was romantic and had flowers and a gift waiting for Mom.  It was very sweet.  We ate too much and then we had cheesecake.  Sounds like a typical holiday, right?

In other news, DJ is home!  Her mom dropped her off around 5:30 tonight and we get to at least spend tomorrow with her.  I'm not sure how long she is staying.

The Bean, Double A, and I finally got around to watching A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving tonight. Strangely enough, it turned out just like it did last year...

I wore both pairs of my Thanksgiving socks, one of them twice, so I didn't do a holiday sock fail like Halloween.  I might wear the other pair again tomorrow, it just depends on what shoes I wear.  So, socks in honor of everything:

Mom and Dad socks.  Green for Mom, of course, and knitted, because she's an awesome knitter.  Black argyle for Dad, kind of just because.  I washed 30 pairs of his white socks last week, these socks would be a definite change!  Happy Anniversary, you crazy kids.

Camo for DJ.  I like the blue ones.  Duh. So happy she is home and I get to see her.

Double A is into lime green right now.  Both she and The Bean seem to just grab socks and wear whatever, so mismatched seemed like a good idea.

Mismatched for The Bean too, who is really into purple these days.  Actually, these would work for her, me, Mom, AND Double A with their color scheme.

These are my Thanksgiving socks.  I could have sworn I took pictures of them on my feet last year, but clearly not.  I was too tired to get out of bed to do it for this year's post.  But this is what they look like.

Awww...I like them!  Maybe Dad needs these socks for Christmas...

Finally, just for giggles, and because she sent me this picture on Tuesday, here are the socks I gave to SKD for Halloween.  I didn't actually get to see her on Halloween so she got them late, but she seems not to mind at all.

Tonight I am thankful for parents, nieces, friends and socks.

Not So Much Shoes

The Bean and I have a date to watch A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, hopefully tomorrow.  I didn't watch The Great Pumpkin this year, so I must be better about my holiday Charlie Brown viewing.  Tonight's post is an homage to this great holiday classic:

Could someone please find these and send them to me by Thursday morning?  Thanks, that would be awesome.

I never paint my fingernails, but I might consider it for this.  Or I could do my toes this way, right?  But then no one would really see them.  Bummer.

These are cookies, people.  Cookies.  They're too pretty to eat!

This necklace kind of cracks me up.  It's cute, but I don't think it's the necklace for me.

Awwww...Pedro (or the PB) needs this!

Holy charm bracelet, Batman!  See?  It has the same charm as on the necklace above, but it makes a little more sense here.  Dang this thing is busy.  Not that I can say anything as I had to start a new charm bracelet because my first one was full.  (it's not Charlie Brown, though)

I need these by Thursday too, please.  I don't have any Thanksgiving earrings.  How sad is that?

Sorry about only 1 pair of shoes tonight, but it's not like there are a ton of this specifically themed shoes out there.  But in the spirit of Thanksgiving, I am grateful for these fun and silly objects to make me smile.  I'm also thankful for my nieces, but I don't seem to be doing so great at being auntie this trip home.  This was the one thing I always felt pretty good at, and now I'm screwing it up too.  Must. Do. Better.

November

Tonight I switched out Halloween for Thanksgiving.  Yes, there IS a holiday between Halloween and Christmas.  Not that you would guess that from the stores and commercials.  Anyhoo.  I took down the Halloween decorations and put up the Thanksgiving decorations.  In honor of Thanksgiving and November, tonight's shoes are all orange and green.  This post is also a shout out to SKD who loves both orange and green.

These aren't tennies I would choose for myself, but they are bright and fun, and I think SKD actually has tennies in a similar color combination.

These don't look green to me, although they were labeled so, but whatever the non-orange color is , I love this shoe.

These, not so much.  Maybe if the heel wasn't yellow, the pink bow was gone, and the platform was a little more proportional.  So, basically if it were a different pair of shoes, apparently.

These are so crazy that they're awesome.  They were listed as prom shoes.  They were not listed as retro.  I kind of love them.  I think I used to have sheets in that pattern...

Wow.  I like them?  Or not?  They're definitely cool.  I almost definitely wouldn't buy them.

Eek!  These would be so much better without the spikes.  Not perfect, but soooo much better.

Awwww.  PB needs these, too.

AND these!

These are kiddo shoes, but I would wear them.  I like them better than the first, adult pair.  The PB could have these when s/he gets older.

Happy November.  Please don't neglect Thanksgiving.
