The last 2 are way more the BFF's style (in fact I think she actually has that pair of Birkenstocks, or a pair very similar). She's not a crazy shoe person like I am, but that's OK as I love her anyway. She can always make me laugh no matter how crappy I'm feeling, she knows me inside and out (which is why she's stuck being my BFF...she knows too much for me to let her go), we have our own language, love the same movies, have the same mad love for the Beatles. and have a million inside jokes that aren't funny to anyone but us. I don't need a day to remind me how lucky I am to have her as my BFF, but it's still nice to get to celebrate.

A Day Late and a Doughnut Short
I can't believe yesterday was National Doughnut Day and I didn't post! And the Pinterest Friend even sent me doughnut shoes, and I still didn't post! I'll just post them tonight and we'll pretend it's still doughnut day:
She found such cute ones, it would be rude not to post them, even if I am late.
I'm super tired again tonight (last night too, which is why no post). It's actually for a good reason: I've been trying to take the puppies for a walk every day, and have been doing pretty well at being consistent. Yesterday and today, though, after their walk I went back out and walked 4-5 miles both days. It felt good, but dang is it making me tired! I am seriously out of shape. So, since I'm tired and a little loopy, instead of writing more, I'm going to let you peruse some of the other selections the PF has sent me recently but I haven't gotten around to posting. Enjoy!
Thanks, PF! Good night, all!

Congratulations, Graduate!
DJ graduated from high school tonight! I so wanted to be there, and am bummed that it didn't work out, but I am soooo proud of her! She leaves soon to spend the summer working in Virginia City, MT, and then she heads to boot camp for the navy in September (she wants to be a nurse!). The brother sent me a picture of her with her diploma, and The Bean posted some pictures to Facebook, so that made me happy to get to see her smiling face.
To me, graduation gowns are kind of like albs. The only thing that differentiates you are your shoes, so you might as well wear something fun and/or funky! Let's look at some examples.
See? Festive and informative!
These aren't shoes I would necessarily choose for myself, but they certainly aren't boring, and they definitely catch the eye.
Again, not a style I might choose, but I do love the color choice.
These are my kind of girls. Fun shoes, and they posed for a shoe picture! Also, the picture was taken in Billings, MT, proving that Montana girls rock.
I'm not sure I've ever seen brown graduation robes, but this picture proves a point. The black shoes? Kind of boring. But the gold and pink shoes pop.
Sparkly and color coordinated. I like this woman!
Wow. I've actually posted these shoes before, but here they are out in the wild! That is one patriotic grad. They aren't my style, but you can't say she didn't put some thought into her shoe choice.
So what did DJ wear to her graduation?
Kick-ass, boots. That's what. Hers are the feet in the middle The other feet in the picture belong to Double A (red dress, brown boots), their little brother (blurry blue crocs), their mom (brown Mary Janes), and The Bean (gold flats and jeans). Now added to the list of why I'm proud of her, we can add that she wore make-a-statement shoes with her graduation gown! I, on the other hand, did not. I wore brown sandals, nothing fancy. I didn't walk for my college graduation, and while I looked for seminary graduation, all I could find were kind of boring white shoes.
Congrats, again, oldest niece! You did it!

Escapist Yarn
Ugh, I can't even with today. If I try to write about it I will will verbally vomit and vent all over you, and this is neither the time nor the place for that. Instead, I will say that I just started a new book, about a woman who owns a yarn shop and teaches knitting classes. I would like to escape into a yarn store, but instead I will just look at pictures of crocheted shoes.
Baby shoes always make me feel better.

Department of Redundancy Department
Apparently today is Repeat Day. Which sounds like that annoying day when your big brother follows you around and says everything you say and drives you to insane extremes. I follow Sandra Boynton on Facebook, and she posted this today:
Way cuter than my brother ever was. So here are some repetitive shoes for you to enjoy.
I'm feeling remarkably un-chatty tonight. So, the end.

Surprise Visit
Tuesdays have become all about the dog hair. Tuesdays are the one day a week the hubby commutes to SF, which means I can do things like vacuum and run the dryer. You know, the noisy stuff I can't do when he works from home and is on the phone all the time. So I wash sheets and blankets and clean puppy hair out of the dryer screen. I vacuum, and clean puppy hair out of the vacuum filter. I give the puppies a bath (clean sheets mean clean puppies), and clean puppy hair out of the tub. Seriously, how can two such tiny creatures produce so much hair?!
Today, though, brought us dog hair of a different kind. This morning the puppies and I were in the kitchen when I heard the dog door open and saw a white blur out of the corner of my eye. Since my dogs are brown and were both next to me, I went to investigate. Turns out it was the beagle who lives behind us. I had no idea how she got in our yard as when I looked I couldn't find any loose boards in the fence. So I called her owners and her dad came and got her. When he got here he said that earlier this morning his wife saw Misti (the beagle) coming through the fence and back into their yard. She went and got a hammer and nails and fixed the loose board, but apparently in the time it took her to get back Misti had returned to our yard and got locked in. I'm not sure how long she was back there before she discovered the dog door and invited herself in. Misti the Beagle went back home, and we got a more adventurous Tuesday morning than we normally get.
In honor of Misti: The Beagle Adventurer:
This Beagle does not look terribly impressed with wearing shoes. But it looks pretty cute doing it.
Why would you want to step all over those cute little faces?
I don't know if those are Beagles or not, but they're awfully adorable.
This is weird and a little creepy.
Is it weird and/or creepy that I kind of like this? I wouldn't wear it, but something about it appeals to me.
The shoe is staring at me. Make the shoe stop staring at me.
I hope your day was full of surprises and lacking in dog hair.

Grouch
Most of today was really good. SKD's son graduated from high school last week, and his graduation party was this afternoon. The hubby had to work, but the puppies and I got to go hang out at a lovely spot by the river for a couple of hours, and it was really really nice. Then we met a friend for coffee and I got to meet his mom, who is absolutely wonderful, and we had a great conversation. So it was a really good day until the drive home when my contact on the call committee I interviewed with called to say they are going with another candidate. I'm not completely surprised, but I'm still disappointed. I hate the call process. I know it's not like this for everyone, but for me it's just an exercise in constant disappointment. In think in the 3 times I've been in the process I've interviewed something like 15 times and been rejected 13. It's hard, and I immediately wanted to curl up and sleep for a week (yay depression!), but that would have been a really bad idea as I was driving.
Moving on. Did you know it was National Go Barefoot Day today? Pretty awesome for barefootedness. Not as helpful for a shoe blog. But, it was also Oscar the Grouch Day! And since that works for the latter half of my day, I'm going with it.
This last one cracks me up a lot. Who would wear these? Or who could wear these without giggling at their own feet all day? Maybe I need a pair for the grouchy days so I can giggle at my feet. I wouldn't wear them out of the house as I'd be too embarrassed, but a pair of giggle shoes might be just the thing.
