Merry Christmas Eve!

I hope you are all enjoying your Christmas Eve.  I'm going to go with secular Santa shoes today rather than religious nativity shoes because baby Jesus shoes are a little bit creepy and wrong.

Baby Santa slippers!  I would wear these if they came in my size.

I would wear these, too.  The PB and I could have matching Santa shoes!

These are from the same website I found the snowman shoes on the other day.  They are blue and festive and fun!

Speaking of blue and festive and fun.  If that site weren't so expensive I might have more themed shoes than are strictly necessary.

More cute shoes for the PB.  Are those pink?

This was too sweet not to include.  If PB should be a girl she would definitely need this.  I'm sure there's an equally cute one for a boy.

Merry Christmas Eve (again)!  The hubby and I have some movie passes so I think we're going to go see Star Wars this afternoon.  Yay!

Happy Birthday, Grandma!

I'm feeling a little weepy today.  It's part hormones, part homesickness, part stress, and a very large chunk is nostalgia over the fact that today would have been my Grandma Sylvia's 98th birthday (which also ties in with the homesickness).  I've posted the story on Facebook and here before, so you've probably heard it a million times, but for me this is the day that Christmas starts because this is the day we would go to Grandma and Grandpa's.  The 23rd was for celebrating Grandma's birthday, the 24th was for church on Christmas Eve (and much much much anticipation) and then the 25th obviously was Christmas.  It might not sound so exciting, but it was tradition, and I have so many memories from all of the years we went there.  The crazy thing is that it's been over 20 years since the last time we went to Grandma's for Christmas because we started bringing her to our house when she got a little older.  Grandma died 5 1/2 years ago and I miss her all the time, but especially during this week.  So I'm eating angel food cake to celebrate her as I write this, and following are some shoes in honor of her birthday.

The baby shoes are supposedly from 1917, and the slip was listed as from the 1910s sometime.

This was from the same etsy page and those might be the same shoes?  But I thought the outfit was really sweet and it was listed as from 1917, so I'm going with it.  Maybe baby grandma wore something similar.

I thought what the heck and typed in "angel food cake shoes."  How weird are these?  I can't imagine Grandma wearing flip flops, let alone angel food cake themed flip flops.  For that matter I can't imagine her wearing angel food cake themed anything.

Sylvia shoes!  Love them.

Another example of a Sylvia shoe.  I like the colors, and the style is one I normally would like, but this isn't my favorite.  It came in a couple of different colors, and they all left me a little flat.  But still, the colors are good.

Happy Birthday, Grandma!

Adventy Snowmen

I'm combining 2 posts today in an effort to get some of the jumble out of my head.  On Saturday I watched Frosty the Snowman, Frosty Returns and Frosty's Winter Wonderland while I crocheted, which made me want to do a snowman post, but I didn't because we don't currently have internet at the house, and then Sunday I got sidetracked and did something else.  So I'm starting with that.

Look at these cute, smug snowmen!  These are a little crazy-busy, but I think they're adorable.

Those are some ginormous carrot noses, but otherwise I think these are also adorable.  And they are definitely going in the PB's imaginary closet.

I love these!  I want these!  Notice the similarity to the first pair?  I found this website today that you should definitely visit if you want some snowman shoe adorableness.  Just don't look at the prices, because holy buckets.

Sunday was the 4th Sunday in Advent, and I was going to do a post on the blue shoes the calendar has offered up in December, but again: sidetracked.

These would have looked awesome with my St. Someone's chasuble, I think.

That is a teeny tiny skinny heel and I'm not sure I could walk on it, but I really like the overall shape of this.

Is this an Advent blue?  No.  Do I care?  Not really.  This is from 1955, according to the helpful information up there in the corner.  They aren't my favorite shape and style in the world, but I do love me some turquoise.

Now that I've mixed secular snowmen with religious Advent I shall leave you to ponder whatever it is you were pondering before you came here.

Sweaters

As I said on Facebook yesterday, I have become THAT puppy mom:

I ordered these from Amazon last year, but they were too big.  They're still a little big, but I think they are so very stinking cute and I couldn't resist.  I mean, how cute are Mexican puppies in Norwegian sweaters?  Plus, we've been bringing them to the office with us and they always seem to be cold, so I thought we'd try the sweaters.  I don't know who needs therapy more:  Me for dressing them or the puppies for being forced into outfits.  Anyhoo, this picture made me go on a hunt for sweater shoes:

Very wintery and snowflakey.  I approve.

Blue sweater baby shoes!  Yes please.  The PB will take a pair in every size.

These would have been good for yesterday's post.  I should get a pair like this and then I would coordinate with the puppies and they could go caroling with me!

Kind of a boring color, but I like the details.

Sweater slippers!

These are  kind of an od shape, but I really like the pattern.

These look so snuggly and comfy. And they remind me a little of a sweater I once owned.

Also snuggly and comfy!  And I would definitely wear this as a sweater.

So apparently in my blogging life it's either feast or famine.  Sometimes I have absolutely nothing I want to post about, and other times, like now, I have a whole bunch of posts jostling around in my head trying to get out.  Like yesterday there were 3 things I could/should have posted besides what I actually did, so now I'll be throwing those posts in where they might not make as much sense (does ANYTHING make sense on this blog?  Ever?). Things might get a little jumbled this week is all I'm saying.

Caroling

Today is Go Caroling Day!  I love Christmas caroling, and used to love going with the church group as a kid, even though it was always cold.  I've been listening to the audiobook of A Christmas Carol as I've been working today, which seems particularly appropriate for the day.  I didn't find any shoes I liked along the lines of A Christmas Carol so I went back to the holiday and decided to go look for snow boots, since caroling in MT tends to necessitate them.  I don't particularly miss snow since I moved back to California, except at Christmas time.  There should be snow for Christmas carols, and snow outside as I watch Christmas movies and drink hot chocolate.  And since this is my blog and my fantasy, that snow would be purely aesthetic and would not require me to shovel, or scrape it off my windshield, or drive in it.  But back to the boots:

I actually like this picture more for the tights than for the boots.  I'm a big fan of tights.  Especially stripey tights that look like sweaters.  These seem festive for caroling, don't you think?  Although they would have to be worn under pants to be warm enough.

Pretty basic, but I like the fuzzy tops.  Snow boots always need to be fuzzy or furry in some way, in my opinion.

I love the color of these.  And I would wear them as regular boots and not just snow boots.

Folded down or left up?  Pretty cute, either way, and I like that they come in a variety of colors.

Bows!  See?  Snow boots don't have to be boring.

Of course I had to find some blue ones.  I love these.  I would need a fun, blue coat to go with them.  Hmmm...imaginary winter closet?

I must go finish listening, now.  Scrooge has just realized it's Christmas morning and he's about to start running around like a happy, crazy person.  Maye when I'm done I'll sing some Christmas carols to myself and the dogs since I'm not going caroling this year.

Star Wars

I should probably do this post tomorrow when The Force Awakens opens, or when we actually go see the movie, but today is our intern's last day before he goes on Christmas break, and he's never seen ANY  of the movies.  I know, we were shocked, too.  It's not his fault, he's actually too young for either trilogy.  Which makes me feel really old.  We decided since it's December and not much happens in the sales world (not retail) during this month, we would take the time to watch Episode IV with him.  This is my idea of an afternoon at work! (although he's extremely responsible and continuing his work while he watches.)  And of course I had to go look for shoes that I haven't posted before.

I want these.  PLEEEAAAASEEEE can I have these to wear when I go to the new movie?

These not so much.  I like them, but I don't really need them.

These are the ones the hubby could wear when we go.  He loooooves Darth Vader.

Or we could both wear these and match.

And then I could wear these the next time I see watch it (or any of the movies, really).

And the PB could wear these!

Since these have Ewoks I would wear these to watch Return of the Jedi.

I suppose I should be at least as responsible as my 16 year old intern and go do some actual work while I watch.  Sigh...

Charlie Brown Christmas

Today was Chocolate Covered Anything Day!  Mmmmm (and kind of gross if taken too literally).  I've already done a bunch of chocolate shoe posts, so I'm not going in that direction tonight.  I was feeling kind of grumpy and down tonight so I decided to watch both Charlie Brown Christmas movies to try to cheer myself up, then went to see if there were any shoes to go with the movies.  There are a few, actually.

I'm sure hese would be cute if I could see the whole pair.  I don't understand why the picture is cut off, and I couldn't find another picture.  Rude.

I've posted these before, but they're adorable, so just pretend you've never seen them and think about chubby baby/toddler feet.

Snoopy is ice skating and the polka dots are red and green, so I say close enough.

Not shoes, but fun!

Also not shoes, but dang.  Maybe they aren't as hard as they look, but for a non-crafty person such as myself they look next to impossible.

I'm going to take my grumpy behind to bed and try to keep Linus's reminder of Christmas in mind.
